Mortal Kombat 2 is good, but not one of the 6 TOP SNES games.  The problem is almost every game on this list deserves recognition.

I looked few twice and picked 6 games I loved, and realized I accidentally missed Super Metroid which I was actually looking for.

My list of top 10 would include:

Crono Trigger
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
The Legend of Zelda Link to the Past
Super Mario All Stars (With Super Mario World)
Super Bomberman 2
Super Mario Kart
Turtles in Time (The only downfall was it wasn't 4 player)
Tetris Attack
Super Street Fighter 2

Most of these games are games I played constantly as a kid and are in no specific order.

EDIT: *Just realized this thread wasn't started by Snipper64, so my bad, but still too many polls can be annoying.

It wasn't?

Also I refuse to vote until some decent games are added to the list.

I wasn't reffering to THIS thread, as in the one we're posting in, but the thread I had mentioned and marked with an asterisk. Re-read my post.

Last night I suddenly thought of another obvious choice and since for some reason I only made five picks number six can be UNIRACERS!  My friend and I once played this game literally all night.  We fell asleep on the couch with controllers in our hand at 7am.

And the best thing it's a totally unique game.  Nothing else plays like it, it has no sequel, and it's never been re-released.  It remains a SNES killer app.  You HAVE to have an old SNES to play it.  The VC makes owning a physical SNES less essential but games like Uniracers still make it worth owning.

6 isn't enough, so I went with: Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 3, ActRaiser, Secret of Mana, LoZ: ALttP, and Earthbound.

I should have put on super metroid instead of FFIII. oh well.

About MKII, I think the game is dreadful. I think all mortal kombat games have some of the worst fighting mechanics of any fighting game series ever. I've never had fun with them and honestly believe that if all the blood and crap was taken from it and it had to survive on just it's mechanics no one would have ever looked at it. That said no one can say that someone else shouldn't like it. Everyone has different tastes in games. It's quite moronic to go out and say that someone should be flogged for liking a game they really enjoy.

Mortal kombat really does suck though.

I can only think of 3 SNES games that I really like. Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, and Donkey Kong Country 2.

There are only a few games on a list that I have beaten more than 3 times.

That list includes:

Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island
The Legend of Zelda Link to the Past
Super Mario World
Super Mario 64

There may be more, but not off the top of my head.

Auuuuugh, how could Terranigma not be listed, even if it's never been released in the U.S.? =(

1.  The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

My second favorite game ever, and the classic that inspires boys to become men!

2.  Terranigma

My THIRD favorite game ever.  For those that have never played it (or heard of it, you fiends, you), it's a part of a trilogy with Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia, with Terranigma being the third (though unrelated) in the trilogy.  It's also leagues better than either, which makes it all the more frustrating that it was never brought over.  The game plays a bit like a Zelda game, but with a more linear path (initially) and a deeper, emotional story (which brings me to tears every time I play it, and I've beaten it close to 40 times by now)...

3.  Earthbound

Earthbound probably has the most unique setting for an RPG ever...This along with its quirky humour and simple, yet enjoyable gameplay makes for a stellar experience...

4.  Yoshi's Island

It's Yoshi's Island...Dunno what to say other than it's beautiful and a lot of fun!  Plus, YOSHI!

5.  Super Mario World

I have a crapload of games fighting for the 5th spot, including Star Fox and Super Mario RPG, but these aren't my favorites in their respective franchises, so I gave Super Mario World the benefit of the doubt...This game has one thing that makes it better than the other Marios...YOSHI!  (Yes, even the mighty Kuribo's Shoe falls before Yoshi!  And yes, I have raging hard-ons for Yoshi...)

I voted but I just want to get this off my chest before I go into detail of what I voted for:

These polls are getting kind of annoying. No offense to you Snipper64, its just that seeing them pretty often feels like we're being bombarded with this. The N64 one was cool because it reminded me of all the favorites I haven't played for years, this one is ok too for similar reasons (though with the Virtual Console, playing some of these titles is made easier) but then you have the Top 5 Wii Games of 2008*.. really? I dunno it just feels like pushing it to me.

EDIT: *Just realized this thread wasn't started by Snipper64, so my bad, but still too many polls can be annoying.

Ya... I think there aren't even close to enough "good" wii games out to make a list... I won't be doing that... Don't worrie, I'll hold off on the "NES vote one" for a while if you think I have to many going at once...

Also, I DID start this poll XD

Also, I'll add as many as I can, because 50 games don't seem to be enough for everyone here. (For my next NES poll that will be 1-2 months away, to reduce any annoyance from members, after the nes, one, if you seem to hates these polls, let me know, because 2 months after the nes poll, I want to do my final poll, Gamecube, my sec. favrite system, N64 being my first.)

Also, How you WANT ME to make the votes count?! I hear 5 and 6 aren't enough, but if I do to many votes, then it becomes trashy data, with everyone voting for every game... Go ahead, make a offer, I'm listening..

Looking back on these choices is interesting because... well... okay. A lot of us DID choose mostly Nintendo games. No surprise there.

But like I said earlier, 2 of my 6 choices were from Square Enix, who ditched Nintendo with the N64. *OW* I still feel the pain of separation. Another popular SE game from these choices seems to be Chrono Trigger. What are we, closet Squeenix fans?

I hate Akira Toriyama art. HATE IT.

Also, for some reason, I never got my hand on CT back in the day. And I absolutely CANNOT get into it via emulator.

So even though I've read tons about the game in the Nintendo Powers of the day and played the very beginning a couple of times, for all intents and purposes I have NOT enjoyed any time with Chrono Trigger.

That's what I say to the N64 poll. I loved the '64, and have waaaay too many fond memories of that system to pick out just 5 or 6. I've actually tried doing so several times for the other poll, but each time I give up because I can't do it. I just...can't.

My choices in alpha order:

Chrono Trigger: The music in this game is beyond words. Seriously, any word fitting enough to describe its excellence isn't within my vocabulary.

Earthbound: This is about as close as I've seen to a videogame being a parody of another game. Since the gameplay is so similar to Dragon Warrior, it really feels like a parody of it, with all of the wacky enemies and random situations and all. Plus the battle backgrounds are like an acid trip with no risk of health effects.

Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past: Best 2D Zelda of them all. No real need to explain why because you probably already know.

Super Mario RPG: Still the best Mario RPG, it managed to put a spin on RPGs without becoming too simple like Paper Mario. It also introduced some new characters who still fit in with the Mario universe.

Super Mario World: Not as ambitious as Super Mario Brothers 3, but it was so well refined as to avoid being a step back.

Super Metroid: This has got to be as good as a 2D adventure game can get. The atmosphere that this game manages to create on such a "limited" platform is still wholly engaging to this very day.

There were so many more I wanted to select, but I went with these as they are likely my most-played.
