The prospect of racing with Ladybugs and praying mantis is too much. I hope this one lasts longer on store shelves than Excite truck did.

Agreed. Nothing worse than people complaining about a problem they can easily fix. Also, good games on wii don't have marketing behind them. No one is going to buy your product if they don't know about it. It's no one's fault but their own if their game doesn't sell well.

TalkBack / Re: Wii Music Coming to a Classroom Near You
« on: January 16, 2009, 06:11:51 PM »
music is being taken out of schools. that's a fact I'm seeing this. Putting wii music into places so that kids will at least be able to get some appreciation for music in a school environment is good. That's all there is to it. You can be all high and mighty about doing things the old way with sticks and coke bottles, but that only works in supportive systems. That's a good accompaniment to an actual music class of some sort. With a music teacher. and time. Not in a place where any class that doesn't make standardized test scores go up is eliminated and those teachers sent elsewhere or forced to do something else.

I don't have an HDTV. I don't even have a big tv. That's part of the reason I've held off. that and money. I have HoD on wii. I haven't been convinced that this will be twenty dollars more game.

The thing is I have a lot of light gun games. I think I have everything released on PS2 and xbox and a few of the wii ones. I'm saturated in light gun games. I play them all the time. House of the Dead: Overkill is just another one. It needs to go above and beyond for me to pay $50 for it.

Is this game still essentially an arcade game? I can't see spending more than $20 on that.

I don't often read reviews anymore because I feel like there's only a few type of people that review games and they all come from a similar perspective. They're looking for things that I am not necessarily looking for.
As for site reviews no one knows who writes reviews. I sure don't. I just know the review came from a certain site. That's the way most people dig reviews. I don't care what kind of games you guys play and the onus shouldn't be on me to know. I should read the review and get all the info out of it I need. If I wrote reviews I'd come at them from a different angle and it'd be up to me to make sure the reader knew where I was coming from. Wii music has been fun for me every time I've played it, but I've been in the absolute perfect environments for it. It ranks pretty high in my book for what it is.
I do wish 1up as a whole allowed slightly longer reviews, or wrote them better. I love two paragraph reviews, but if they're not informative they're useless. EGM's reviews for anything other than their AAA games were useless and stupid. Sure you had three numbers but what did they mean? I remember reading one review that was two sentences long.

This and clone wars are some of the best things on TV right now. I love the B tier characters and the fantastic art design.

They have the game. They're just saying that they didn't know about it until I told them and how their friends don't know what it is and never heard of it. We were also saying how we'd like to see some awesome spanish enthused games, because there are none.

I should have put on super metroid instead of FFIII. oh well.

About MKII, I think the game is dreadful. I think all mortal kombat games have some of the worst fighting mechanics of any fighting game series ever. I've never had fun with them and honestly believe that if all the blood and crap was taken from it and it had to survive on just it's mechanics no one would have ever looked at it. That said no one can say that someone else shouldn't like it. Everyone has different tastes in games. It's quite moronic to go out and say that someone should be flogged for liking a game they really enjoy.

Mortal kombat really does suck though.

Earlier this week I was talking to my coworkers from Ecuador and Bolivia and they were talking about how they missed the boat on marketing this game and having a potentially huge seller on their hands. Game needs a few more 'authentic latin' (I don't know a better phrase for it) songs (I know it means no f'n chumbawumba) and serious air time on univision and gol. Game is $15 or $20 at wal mart right now.

Nintendo Gaming / Monster Hunter G for Wii
« on: December 24, 2008, 06:22:25 PM »
Yup, that's right. Capcom pulls a brazenly Capcom-esque move and ports Monster Hunter G from the PS2 to the Wii. It's a straight port that only uses the Classic Controller according to Famitsu.
This is surely fantastic for all the Monster Hunter Fans who didn't play this game when it first launched on the Playstation 2, or when it was ported to the PSP. The game is said to be near finished and ready for release in Spring of 2009 in Japan.

Turtles In Time is my favorite beat 'em up ever. I still play it now. I played it in the arcades. I played it at home. I play it on my snes on my pc on my psp. I play it in the snow and the rain. I play it alone and play it with friends. I play it with friends ad-hoc and play it with friends wifi. I love that game.

Final Fantasy III Was my first traditional JRPG and it's all kinds of cool. I like the setting and the story.

Ogre Battle the game is totally awesome. It's a completely different style of JRPG that gets overlooked. It had a sick sick battle system and rockin awesome branching story. It was also fun. and long. and fun. and not too serious for it's own good. decent art. fantastic game. one of the greatest ever.

Super Mario World. Best platform game ever made. end of story. Near perfection in so many levels. GNARLY!

Stunt Race FX was my bridge into console racing games. It had brilliant art design, awesome looking characters and lots of fun modes. I didn't discover this gem until the very end of the SNES' days. I didn't have an N64 yet and this was the last of my nintendo games. BRILLIANT. man it's fun and goofy and fun.

Zelda. It's good.

If Haze came out on 360 free radical still wouldn't be around if they ran their business the same. If the game was as punishingly mediocre and the marketing was a vague and non noticeable and all factors were the same we'd have the same outcome. It's not the PS3, it's the developer.

If their game was of higher quality and they ran on a tighter schedule maybe they'd be around.

no, I'm not serious. but that's what some of you guys really enjoy saying for developers you don't like. I hate seeing people lose their jobs, but I've not really enjoyed many free radical games so I figured I'd give them the awesome gamer treatment.
Hope they become well ingrained in the San Francisco bum community.

How is it inconceivable that someone has never heard of a rhythm game that is WILDLY not popular in the US? I personally love the series but only as taiko drum master.

Releasing RB2 late was a terrible mistake. If it had come out at the same time it would've given me pause as to wich one to get. There were a lot of parties between october 27th and today that made fantastic use of guitar hero world tour. It'll still sell. I just think waiting this long was a bad idea.  They lost a lot of potential sales to wii owners.
