TalkBack / Re: Rayman Legends Delayed To September
« on: February 07, 2013, 09:06:09 PM »
All I can add to this conversation is that, I didn't play Rayman Origins. I played the Rayman Legends Demo and enjoyed it. I would have bought this game this month, because I really want something on my Wii U. Come September, I will have many more Wii U games as well as PS3 games.
I won't end up buying it.
Not because of bias, or hate, or revenge, or anything like that, just terrible terrible timing.

So what are the chances, TVii was in here and they just have to "turn it on" and maybe they will do that tomorrow? Wishful thinking?

We already know it was delayed, so highly unlikely.

Delayed again? I must have missed that. The TVii app on WiiU still says "Coming December". Oh well, at least it seems like the menu's run faster, and if there are no more freezing issues, I'm happy.

Could you always look at 3DS Eshop games and videos on the WiiU Eshop? I just noticed  listings for tons of 3DS retail and Eshop games on the WiiU shop, some with video and screen shots.

Hey guys! Thanks for answering my letter! I'm the guy with the troll infestation.

I play PS3 and PC as much as my Nintendo systems, I really just want to make others understand WHY I like Nintendo so much and it frustrates the hell out of me when I they don't have an open mind.

I'll also admit that to block a listener, even one who drives me nuts, is a tough call for a brand new podcast, with very few listeners to begin with...

Again though, thanks for answering and I'll keep loving what I love and trying to ignore the haters.

Wowza! I was feeling bad about not preordering NSMB: U with my system, but know I'm happy I didn't so I can pick it up digitally and get some Eshop Monies!

I'm glad this review is up. I was looking at this game the other day on the Eshop and thought it looked very interesting. Almost like a Bit Trip Runner meets Shinobi. I unfortunately hadn't heard a thing about it , and sometimes these kinda games have a fun idea but ultimately bad execution or no legs, so I was hesitant (I know it's only 2 bucks...I'm a cheapskate). As it stands now I'll probably pick it up this weekend. Thanks!

Does it not tell you that it's sold out until you try to order it? It still seems as though they are offering the reward.

I would absolutely order this if I had enough coins. I could probably only eke out 200 or so looking at my pile of unregistered games.

Yeah it lets you click on the medal and the button that says  "I want one" but then Donkey Kong tells ya it's out of stock and to check back later . F'n Donkey Kong.  :(

Already gone. I stopped on online game of Warhammer 40k to grind out the last 30 coins I needed....but alas, sold out. I always seem to miss the good stuff. At least I got Fluidity when it was on Club Nintendo!

I've had a subscription for nearly 10 years now, and have collected nearly all of the backlog. It'll be fun to say I own every issue from start to finish, but I'm really sad I won't get it in the mail anymore. It's just one of those fun little suprises every month when I come home to a fresh copy in the mail box, and just a little reminder of how FUN games can be, as the internet sites (NWR excluded) can have a tendency to take all the fun out gaming with the BS snark and trolling, etc.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: What's the problem with Community Nights?
« on: August 19, 2012, 07:35:31 PM »
No, sadly, the communities seem to be exclusive to Mario Kart at the moment. You should add people from our 3DS friend code thread, which can be found here, because we've got a great community here on these forums and a lot of people you could be playing with.

Yeah, my code is on there, and I've added a lot of people, but many never added me back, so it's a little tough.
Just another reason these friend codes really need to go. It would be so much easier if these people could just "accept" instead of having to add my code. (I just added you Insanolord BTW)

Sadly, this game came too late for many people who were depending on those 100 Club Nintendo coins for their gold nunchuks.
I'm with you Kairon. I was holding out on the coins I got from the XL to get the gold nunchuk, but alas.

You can still get Fluidity for 150 coins through today though! It's a fantastic game (if you hadn't heard that 1000 times on RFN).

I would love to be involved, but I'm not really sure where to start.

I don't play online games very often and my friends roster is pretty small. Do any games besides MK7 have a "community" online function?

Nintendo Gaming / Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2
« on: August 19, 2012, 06:21:50 PM »
So I just got this this morning with my shiny new XL.

I've only just played the first world, but I can already say that I actually think the coin mechanic is a nice wrinkle, IF, you choose to "play the game" and go for high score and the million coins.

What I mean by this is, in the past few NSMB games, coins have been completely useless. To the point of I could be going through a level, see a big cloud of coins in the air, and not even be motivated enough to do the work getting to them because, who cares?

I've never really made it a point to get coins, but now, when that's a more key mechanic, I find myself playing the game much differently, going for every coin I can, looking high and low for little nooks where they may be hidden, etc.

It's not a major game changer, and so far the general game looks like a very normal Mario game, but I think the incentive to "go for the gold" creates just enough of a change in how I play to keep it fresh.

Plus it looks so nice on the big ass screen!

TalkBack / Re: The State of Your Wii
« on: August 18, 2012, 08:29:20 PM »
My Wii is a launch day unit, with a super sweet  wood panel decal set on it to make it look like a piece of late 70's furniture.

It only half works.

Mine has the same issue that Zach says he had with his unit, that being about a week before Xenoblade hit, I fired it up to find it froze up after the "press A" screen everytime. Sometimes not even getting there.
Fortunately there IS a workaround for this that I had never heard of until searching for solutions online.
If you hold down the " " and "-" buttons on the "press A" screen and then press A, you Wii will boot up in a sort of "safe mode". Strangely, the only thing I could find that this disabled was the uses of the Message Board (oh no!),
but both disk and digital games, even from the SD card, booted up fine, and I just recently put my 113 hours of Xenoblade behind me.

I have a PS3 but it's the one collecting dust (except netflix) and I'm looking forward to getting Last Story pretty soon and riding the wave all the way to WiiU!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: E3 2012 Press Conferences - Day 2: Nintendo
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:52:57 PM »

I don't think Nintendo is broadcasting the developer roundtable anymore. They don't mention it on their Facebook page or their official E3 site...

An earlier NWR article mentioned the developer roundtable would not be streamed live, but rather a video of it would be online hours later.

I don't know if it will be liveblogged though. Is it?

I just logged in to ask the same question. I've looked all over, but I can't find anyone Liveblogging the developer roundtable. They normally have a lot of great info during it, I'm bummed we have to wait for video later, if that.

and yet some "other" sites will claim Nintendo showed "no games" besides Pikmin and NintendoLand. What are ya gonna do..

Also does anyone think Tank!Tank!Tank! looks like it could be kinda awesome?

Is anyone a little sad to the "Wii-u" logo on the bottom of the tablet. If this is indeed the final revision, does this mean we are stuck with the name?

Everything else on it looks pretty good compared to the design shown last year. I just keep hoping for a better name....

I just don't know if I can listen. Greg, you were easily the person I most identified with, game wise, and I will very much miss your particular insight on the world of gaming. I'm sure the rest of the crew will continue to put out amazing content, but you will be missed. Thank you sir and godspeed.

TalkBack / Re: Trent Oster Talks WiiWare and Wii U
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:57:59 PM »
So guys, when you say that Beamdog should have known what they were getting themselves into when they decided to develop for WiiWare, are you indirectly admitting that the WiiWare platform was a very flawed one to begin with and thus developers shouldn't even bother with it?

I'm not indirectly admitting WiiWare is flawed platform, I'm saying it seems to me like these flaws are very well known around the gaming community, and if a dev chooses to release on the platform anyway, they don't have a lot of room to complain afterwards about these things, as if they didn't know.

TalkBack / Re: Trent Oster Talks WiiWare and Wii U

My issue with this is still the fact that Beamdog knew what it was getting into.
The filesize issues, restrictions, and lack of publicity for WiiWare games is very common knowledge to even the more casual Nintendo fans.
These guys CHOSE to release on this platform, under these conditions, and it did not work well for them. They are 100% in their right not to want to work with this platform  anymore, I just don't see why this needs to be "news" besides being publicity for Beamdog.

Damn this episode. You guys talked to highly of these DC Animated features, I had to check em out. So after watching Batman/Superman Apocalypse free on Netfilx, I immediately went and bought both JL movies and Under the Red Hood on the Itunes. There goes my birthday money! Thanks Connectivity!

MDK2 is sweet, but it's also a port of a old game that was not too successful, financially, the first time. I'm not defending Nintendo, but a lot of time we hear a company blaming a platform or platform holder for their games lack of sales, I tend to think the blame lies equally with the designers and developers.
As a consumer, no matter how the designer tries to spin it, it comes of a little like sour grapes.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 22: Used Samurai
« on: February 24, 2012, 12:00:25 PM »
My biggest concern about this "no used games" thing is that, while yes Zach it will hurt Gamestop, they will still outlast and push through while every independent and locally owned game shop bites the dust. The simple truth is that, the way margin is set on new games, it's virtually impossible for game only retailers to turn a profit with out a robust used games business.
If this does come to pass, expect all of the local shops and indie online retailers to die long before Gamestop. That's not something I want to see.
