This odd little elf is quite the character.

Tingle, the polarizing elf that has appeared in a handful of The Legend of Zelda games, is not gay, series producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed.

"He's not gay. He's just an odd person," he told Kotaku.

Aonuma also discussed the creation of the character, noting that he wanted Tingle to look like a man who didn't ever want to grow up. "The whole thing comes together as a very Peter Pan kind of visual," he explained. "You know, if you think about it, it's this guy in his 30s in a green suit and is flying and never wants to grow up, it all sort of comes together around that."

Are you a fan of Tingle or do you think the Zelda franchise would be better off without him?

Not surprising considering the Tingle Rubyland DS spinoff already showed Tingle is indeed attracted to women back in 2006.

I always just saw Tingle as a weird guy.  Never read anything else into it.  Hell, he's so strange I fail to see an obvious stereotypical gay characteristic.

He's happy when Link is around, because he likes seeing the fairy, but it's implied that he's not very happy otherwise because he's been waiting so long to get his own fairy.

If you'd ask the creators of Sesame Street if a character of theirs is gay, they'd say that character or characters (Bert & Ernie) are asexual.
 
I bet Nintendo would say this of most of their characters too.  What a stupid question.

I never liked the character but not because I thought he was gay. Only when I was a teenager and it was acceptable to call people you didn't like that as an insult which is no longer the case.
