Not this year, but it's coming!

A core Pokemon game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and is currently in active development by developer Gamefreak. However, don't expect it anytime soon, as by Nintendo's own admission the title "May not release for more than a year."

Nintendo took only a few seconds to drop that juicy tidbit and wet gamers' appetites, but so far there are no other details on the upcoming title.

How to not do a major announcement:

"HEY DOODS.  You know that Pokémon fighting game that had okay reviews and was released on a console that sold three copies?  We're re-releasing it.  Wait, we already told you that?  Oh, here's some footage for it anyway...

*PS: A new mainline game is in the works for a console for the first time ever."

Well, they obviously had nothing to show of the new game. This was more just to reassure the people that feared Pokemon would remain on the 3DS forever.

Plus, Pokken had something of a following, so it doesn't hurt to remind people. Not like it took up that much time.

I suppose this puts the nail in the coffin of the Pokemon Stars rumor once and for all.

I thought they said it was going to be a new game in the series so something for Gen 8.
