yea at least these guys have good tastes in games. the only xbox game nominated for anything was splitter cell. the only thing i can see it winning is graphics though. its not going to win game of the year. hopefully nintendo gets some recognition for this.

it is weird that they nominated AC for RPG and not Family Game of the Year.

Metroid Prime earned an Interactive Achievement Awards record ten nominations. hopefully, NOA will spread the word and more people will pick up a free copy of prime with their new GameCube.

Metroid Prime is going to win game of the year based on the other nominees in that category.  If Vice City wins anything over Metroid Prime, there is something up with this industry.  I bet the only reason AIAS included Vice City was because of its insane sales, and I really doubt it'll win anything huge.

Note that Mario only has one nomination, and I'd bet good money that it won't win.  Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank are at about the same level as Mario is, and sales will ultimately deterimine who gets that award.

SLY COOPER & THIEVIUS   184,130
SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE   992,703
RATCHET & CLANK   294,368

Considering that ratchet & clank is up for Game of the Year, I would assume it would win Adventure Game of the Year.

Sly Cooper was such a fabulous game, though ... it just didn't have quite the marketing push that Ratchet and Clank did.  Seriously, I literally spent all day last Friday playing the game, starting around 9:30 AM, and didn't realize how much time had passed until I looked up and it was 4:30 PM!  I haven't done that in a LONG time.  Ratchet and Clank wasn't nearly as good, IMO.

It's such a shame that a fantastic game like Sly Cooper is likely going to get just as overlooked in these awards as it is on the shelves.

I'm sure the reason that Vice City got so many nominations is becasue last year GTA3 was boycotted from all but two minor categorys.  If it was only being nominated becasue of sales, GTA3 would have been nominated last year.

I'm sure vice city isn't going to win much, but i'm pretty sure they are doing this as an appology to Rockstar for screwing them over last year.

I played a little of Sly Cooper and it was a fun game. Sucker Punch is a very talented developer. They made Rocket: Robot on Wheels for n64. At least the game was nominated for an award.

I didn't care much for Ratchet and Clank, I'm a Mario-only man I guess.

Overall, I can't wait to see how these awards turn out. Some categories should be pretty close.

I really would like to see Prime beat out battlefield 1943 for the Game of the Year.. just to show how much ass it kicks... and I want to see Eternal Darkness win in the sound department, and Animal Crossing to win in Innovation..

I love the handheld category.. its practically saluting Nintendo's dominance

we shall see how things go when Microsoft and Sony release handhelds
(it will happen, take my word for it)

Well two of those games are ports and I don't think it's very fair for them to win.  Handheld game of the year should be a brand new game.  I would have nominated Tactics Ogre and Sonic Advance instead.

I dont think Prime will have any trouble again Battlefield 1942. It's a good (online) game, but it doesn't really have a good single player story line, so Prime beats it out pretty easy. It'll most likely see more competition from Ratchet and Clank and/or Vice City.

Rick what are you talking about?!!!! Sly Cooper not getting the marketing it needed......iv seen comercials for it every 5 minutes for the last few months! Funny comercials too! Whatever, i guesss you dsont watch tv as much. As for it not selling well, I don't think platformers are or ever have been as popular on a playstation console. RPGs and games liek GTA ar eits biggest draw.

Wow, I'm shocked to see Battlefield in the running for Game of the Year. Seriously.

Yes, it was a good game, but it suffered from a rushed release, and it basically couldn't be run on anything below a Geforce 2 400 MX for quite some time (Even then, it chugged bad)

I do hope Metroid Prime wins it. Then again, I'd be pleased with Vice City taking the award too. I know alot of MS and Nintendo die-hards put crap on the game 24/7, but it really is a fantastic game. Considering the PS2's hardware, It's a wonder how they got it running so smoothly. It draws an INSANE amount of poly's on screen.

And why is it that Rez is NOT in the "Innovation" section? Who's bright idea was it to throw the game in the action/adventure section? It's one of the most original games the world has ever seen! It now has to compete with the likes of GTA because some dumb ass played 5 seconds of it and thought it was just another shooting game... *Sigh*

DAYUM!! Sony and Microsoft = Nintend0wned! I hope Eternal Darkness wins best story, it certainly deserves it, and best sound too. LOL at Splinter Cell and Vice city being nominated for innovation! Why does Metroid Prime have to be in the same category as Timesplitters 2, i want TS2 to win something.

Based on the number of nominations alone I think we can confidently say that Metroid Prime will win game of the year and just about every other catagorie it's in.

What i think is stupid is how GTA: Vice City could be nominated for the character and storyline award. I mean WTF, does it even have a storyline? It deserves every other nomination it get's though and I hope it's succesful.

Why was the original GTA 3 boycotted?

It wasn't really boycotted. GTA 3 wasn't nominated for Game of the Year. It won in Game Design and Game Play Engineering.

Congradulations to Nintendo for all their nominations! I can really see Metroid Prime cleaning house, ED and AC will also win SOMETHING. I figure Super Mario Sunshine ought to win in the category it was nominated.
