I wish you could add a picture icon for your folders. I wish Swapnote worked better. By that I mean the way it pulls messages and then takes a minute or so to load the new ones is a pain. Also, you can't select blocks of messages for deletion. You have to go one by one. I wish you could send notes to your friendlist folks without going thru Swapnote.
What sort of stuff do you want ejamer? (or others)
Good suggestions, as are the things other people are putting forth.
My most wanted feature on 3DS, as I've said in multiple forums at different times, is some form of file download/management tool for the SD card - particularly for podcasts. We've got an audio app that allows people to listen to, record, and (to a limited degree) edit audio files... but getting new content on and off the SD card is a pain. The 3DS is designed to never be turned off, and shutting everything down to add a new podcast each morning is a real drag. Why can't that process be automated, so that the feeds I subscribed to are updated automatically via SpotPass and appear on my playlist ready to go without me having to switch out SD cards?
Frankly, this feature would be more convenient than having to sync my iPod and would let me carry one less device around on a day-to-day basis. I'd even be happy to pay for such a feature.
Something like the Wii news channel would also be awesome, as long as it also updates via SpotPass so that I always have the latest news sitting in my pocket, ready to be read whenever and wherever I find time. Sure you can go online and get the latest news... but that's the very point of this portable app: you don't need an online connection to read the latest downloads, and all syncing happens in the background without requiring any effort from the user.
What's the point in stopping flash card that don't run current 3DS software? Is it just fear of those being potentially exploited? It isn't like companies are putting out a bunch of new DS games. Seriously, it's Pokemon and nothing else from here to eternity. Almost as bad as the psp's old firmware updates that did nothing for me
From a business justification? It looks good to third parties. It would make DS games being sold via the eShop more attractive if people can't cheaply and easily pirate everything. DS games are still selling well enough, even there aren't big releases on the horizon.
Because they can.Turn the question around: what is the point of making and selling flash cards? The only answer that makes sense is because there is still good money behind the business, even if DS games aren't the hot new thing.
Flash cards took a lot of money out of Nintendo's pockets and didn't do any favors to developers or distributors either. Even if these updates don't really affect 3DS software in any meaningful way, Nintendo probably hasn't forgiven or forgotten assumed losses from the DS generation.
