World Of Goo Switch To Have Touch, Pointer Control Options
« on: February 14, 2017, 01:10:10 PM »

There's a lot of power in the JoyCons.

The upcoming Switch port of World of Goo will have plenty of control options.

Tomorrow Corporation, the publishers of the game, have confirmed on Twitter that a touchscreen option for tablet/tabletop mode and a pointer mode for TV play will both be available.

The touchscreen play is similar to how the mobile versions of the game control, while the pointer control will use the right JoyCon in a fashion similar to the Wii Remote controls.

Fantastic game, and nice to hear there are pointer controls available.  Wii motion controls weren't that hot, but I really liked having a pointer and found it useful in lots of games.

How and why will it specifically use the Joy-Con R?

The right JoyCon is the one with the pointer functionality on it.

Is there any footage yet of the Joycon being used as a pointer like a wii remote?

But what is it pointing at? I thought there was no sensor bar. I guess I missed something about how it works.

It also points out the bottom, meaning you'd have to flip it in order to point it at the screen. But that means you have no access to the triggers.

If you use the IR Motion Camera what would it use as a reference point? It may just use gyro to point like in Skyward Sword.

Is there a spot for an IR light on the tablet or charging base? Maybe it uses that as a reference point when you start a game and is smart enough to use that point relative to where you are when you calibrate it for a game?

My parent's Samsung TV has a pointer remote and I don't see a clear IR light on the set, though I didn't look terribly hard for it last I was there.
