What movie?  Haven't seen it, though it looks like something Exorcist-esque.  Little girls being creepy is generally an effective method for insomnia.

I think it's from the movie called "The Ring". There is an original version which is Japanese (with japanese actors) and then there's the American version (with american actors). I never saw this movie but from what Termin8Anakin said ("It still freaks me out.........Make a copy! Quick! Before she kills you!") I think there's a videotape involved in all this.

Well, Termin8 just spoiled a good part of the movie I think, but yes, the image comes from "The Ring", which had a corny Japanese version, and an extremely frickin scary American version.

I heard that the japanese version is much scarier. Does that have any truth to it?

Ah, the Ring.  My friend said some parts were mildly disturbing, but that it was generally overrated.  Yes, that does involve a creepy girl. . . and a video tape.  Something about when you see the video tape you die after a certain period of time.  Or something.

Well, I have only seen one of the Japanese movies (The Ring is a 3 part trilogy, but only one made it to the US so far.  I saw the one that was ported in both English and Japanese).  My take on the differences are these:

The Japanese version doesn't have as good of... style, which leads it to be rather cheap in its overall package.  However, the plotline is much more coherent.  What I got from the American version by reading between the lines was told directly in the Japanese version.

The American version has a much better presentation, with better contrast on some of the characters, and much better acting on the part of the girl in Termin8's avatar.  Overall, the characters just seemed better, and the package was much nicer.  Like I said though, the plot is a little sketchy, leaving some viewers confused with the story.  I personally didn't have that problem, but it seems that a lot of viewers couldn't figure out what was going on in parts.

What's with everyone having Homestar Runner avatars now- it's especially weird seeing BOTH  PIAC and KnowsNothing with Teen Girl Squad avatars.

kingvudu, just change the file extension from .jpg to .txt, and it will work just fine.  The reason this works is that your browser knows it to be a picture regardless of the file extension.

Seems more tasteful and less unique to me (since, while no one else has it, he did get it from a pre-existing concept).

I was really surprised everybody thought my avatr looked great- it was only like my second picture in MS Paint, and I'm horrible with art. I didn't know ThePerm made his for a while- it looks like it's from some funny flash site, like Homestar or something.

I want an avatar but every time I try to update my profile I get an error page. I emailed the administration but they haven't replied yet... It's really annoying to 'cause I want to put something else in my signature.
