Nintendo Reveals Switch 2

(1/1)

Shaymin:
The most long awaited sequel in Nintendo history: what appears to be an actual new Mario Kart.http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/69676/nintendo-reveals-switch-2After years upon years of speculation, Nintendo has finally confirmed the Switch's successor is officially the Switch 2.An update video has released showing the new system, which bears a larger screen than even the Switch OLED, as well as new larger Joy-Con controllers that have a single, small clip on each side to connect to the system for handheld play. The kickstand also allows the system to lie nearly flat for tabletop play. Switch 2 will support Switch 1 carts as well as downloaded titles, and will launch at some point in 2025.Although no games were explicitly named in the update, the video does appear to show a new Mario Kart course. A dedicated Switch 2 Nintendo Direct will be held on April 2, 2025, and hands-on events will follow around the world. The event schedule, according to Nintendo:
* North America in New York April 4 - 6, Los Angeles April 11 - 13, Dallas and Toronto (Canada) April 25 - 27.
* Europe: Paris April 4 - 6, London April 11 - 13, Milan and Berlin April 25 - 27, Madrid and Amsterdam May 9 - 11.

The trailer would have been cooler if it was released late last December before literally everything inside of it leaked out. Also doesn't bode well for Nintendo's relationship with 3rd parties as a ton of companies wanted to show off Switch 2 accessories at CES and Nintendo didn't even release this then to accommodate them.

Mythtendo:
CES almost never has anything about console gaming anymore, the closest they came to that this year was a PS5-style controller from Hyperkin that works on Xbox Series X and PC. So even if Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 earlier, it wouldn't have made a difference for CES. CES is essentially a PC show, if a product can't be used on a PC it won't be shown there
