Nintendo Switch 2

So do you think we will get new entries in these games on Switch 2 anytime soon?
Any other series you are expecting to be returning?

My brother will be trying to get a pre order at launch, but he told me that his actual killer apps will be Splatoon and Animal Crossing, so in truth he won't be too bothered if he misses out.
I'm a little surprised Splatoon 4 isn't available inSwitch 2's first calendar year, it was available pretty early for the Switch 1 and was a great push for online play and a bit more of a core-gamer/e-sport vibe. In comparison the Switch 2 is left feeling a little bit more clean-fun-generic without it.
As for Animal Crossing that hit in Switch 1 calendar year 4, but I feel like they'd totally want it earlier than that for Switch 2. I wouldn't fault Nintendo for trying to get their evergreens like Animal Crossing out in 2026, it would be a huge title to use to entice people to upgrade to Switch 2.
Smash Bros. is an open question. Like Splatoon it's another franchise that will bring in a more traditional/core gamer crowd. But it takes a LOT of effort to develop, so honestly I wonder if it's going to be a longer wait this time... especially with Sakurai focused on Kirby Air Riders instead. I'm happy for Sakurai and Air Riders, but this makes me a little more glass half empty on Smash...
Mario Party has definitely been coming in at a pretty high frequency towards the end of the Switch 2's life... I don't see it coming in 2026, that'd be exhausting after just upgrading Jamboree. But maybe 2027? But Mario Party is still so useful for an expanded audience, it'll be hard to resist getting it in play. Though at Switch 2 prices, it might have more effect after the launch frenzy and maybe if prices can find a way of stinging less so more casual fans can feel safe to upgrade...
M.K.Ultra:
Based on what I have read, the demand for switch 2 pre-orders has far exceeded the supply. I remember hearing that the initial launch was delayed so that enough stock could be built up to avoid this issue. Do we think that those rumors were not true, or has that delay allowed the demand to build up just as much?
I struck out with the normal retailers, but I am in the MyNintendo store lottery so fingers crossed.
UncleBob:
I think the presell numbers are just a portion of the total launch numbers.

Also, it doesn't look like you can still preorder on Walmart.com. I'm not clicking it for fear of getting my order canceled for it thinking I'm a bot, but the preorder button is showing right now. 🤣
Kairon:
It's hard to tell from the preorder circus what real sentiment from buyers is, or what real supply is. How much of that chaos was caused by scalpers and bots? How many of those people were on all retailer sites simultaneously because they couldn't trust any single one to come through for them? How many are doing it now for fear of price increases in the future?
The TRUE test for supply and demand will be Holiday 2025, and the doldrums of early mid 2026.
