I imagine if Final Fantasy 7 was remade for the 3DS and it looked this good? Which games would my fellow forum people like to see remade for the 3DS?
I'd imagine a remade FFVII would look nothing like that since Square Enix has abandoned the super-deformed look. Also, considering Resident Evil was apparently real-time, Square Enix could probably do even better.

As for your second question: Final Fantasy VI. I'm such a slut for Celes......

Geeze - it's a video game, folks.  You like it or you don't.  No need to go into attack mode.  Looking until this is sorted out.
Isn't that how it goes around here though? This isn't serious discourse, but when someone starts taking it seriously, there are so many opportunities for lulz.
How about when I don't have to edit your posts you can rejoin the conversation.
I kind of feel like it's funnier with it saying "Mod Edit."

So? Makes it no less amazing. Disagree? Well, the next time you're me, you can do something about it though, honestly, it comes down to this:
Wah, someone doesn't like a game as much as I do.
Mod Edit, you can rejoin the conversation. Next time, second mod edit.

Oh no, don't worry. I'm sure that this full-length platformer, made by Nintendo for one of their HOME consoles, is going to take two hours to beat.
Right. Because Nintendo has never made a home console game that could be beaten in under 2 hours. If you want, if it REALLY makes you feel better, you can substitute 2 for 4 or 6 or whatever you'd like, champ, anything that will make you happy. I still don't think the game will be very long and thus not worth $50. I have, however, stated that the game looks amazing. I might buy it for $20 or even $30, but with the second half of 2010 so packed with amazing games, I'd like to spend my hard earned cash on other games.
Quote
And PS: "Educated guess" suggests that there's something educated about it. Why would you compare this to previous kirby games when there hasn't been a kirby game on the home consoles since the Nintendo 64 TEN YEARS AGO, and you said yourself, the gameplay looks to be completely changed up, so really, you have no basis for anything you're saying about the game.
Whoa, what crawled up your vagina? Jeez, chill out, dude. First, home console versus a portable means nothing so I don't know why you're so attached to that. There are games on portable systems that are longer than games on a home console. Second, even though the gameplay looks different, the difficulty level doesn't. Kirby games aren't especially difficult and I've never had much trouble beating them and I don't expect either to change here thus, I'm not paying full price for Epic Yarn. I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you, but, then again, you're not spending my $50.

I'm simply making an educated guess based on the difficulty and length of the many Kirby games I've played and beaten very easily and very quickly in the past. If Epic Yarn happens to break this pattern, I guess I'm at a loss for ultimately choosing NBA Jam over Kirby's Epic Yarn. I doubt I'll be too sorry about this decision, but if it makes you feel better, I'll say 10 Our Fathers and 5 Hail Marys as penance. Just for you. Don't you fee special now?

Yeah, well, Mel Gibson is a racist...

Even though Galaxy and the original Super Mario Bros. are different, the character of Mario is more or less in tact. With Epic Yarn, what about Kirby is still Kirby besides the basic design and distinctive cutesy voice?

I watched the trailer again and noticed that Kirby has NONE of his trademark moves, namely his copy ability and float-jump, which raises the question of what makes a series: gameplay or name? I'm all for gameplay enhancements and advancements, but I also feel like there's a delicate balance where a series becomes unrecognizable. Not saying that's definitely what happened here, though it's certainly leaning in that direction.

Additionally, while this game looks amazing, there's no way I'm spending $50 on it. The game looks really easy. I'd probably have fun with it...... for the 2 hours it'd take me to beat it. There are too many games coming out this fall/winter that likely offer much more.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Super Smash Bros Rumble: Ideas and wishlisht
« on: June 30, 2010, 02:28:34 AM »
My suggestion is that there is no sequel/update to Brawl and that Smash Bros. as a series is put to rest. I feel like they took Smash as far as it can go gameplay wise and the only additions would be to the roster. I don't think Nintendo should abandon the mascot fighting concept, but if they were to drastically change the gameplay, it would be fair and understandable to christen it a new franchise.
Hell, Capcom basically creates a new clone of Ryu with every new Street Fighter game and yet nobody give a damn.  Which is very hypocritical since the difference between Fox and Wolf is much greater then the different between Ryu and the dozen different clones he has by now.
I disagree. Maybe in the original Street Fighter II Ryu and Ken were almost exact clones. However, characters like Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Akuma, Gouken and even Dan (kind of) play differently enough to justify being separate characters. I think it's a bigger difference than Fox, Falco, and Wolf.

This is exactly what I've been saying. Critics have been saying that Nintendo only/mostly cares about the casual market and younger demographic. FALSE. Nintendo is a business and, as such, wants everyone's money.... they just never made a legitimate attempt at reaching out and grabbing that beautiful butterfly until now. I mean, they made half-hearted attempts, but it's nice to see Nintendo finally actively getting 3rd parties involved.

I hope this trend continues and carries over to their home console strategy. It's too late for the Wii, but for Nintendo's next console, I would be very impressed if Nintendo asked 3rd parties what they wanted to see hardware wise from the CPU/GPU down to the controller. I don't mean to say that they should build it for Nintendo. Rather, getting feedback from your partners is always a good thing. It should be a compromise. Nintendo should listen closely to what 3rd parties want so they know Nintendo takes their support seriously. That way, everyone wins.... except Sony and Microsoft.

2D fighting games (Smash Bros. doesn't count) work better with a D-pad.

I'm still trying to justify spending $50 on Super Mario Galaxy 2. Not because I don't think it's worth $50. Rather, I don't really have $50 to spend. I'd really like Sin and Punishment 2 as well. I just don't think I can hold off until Other M comes out.

I'm still partial to using the D-pad for 2D games so putting one on the Wii remote which is primarily held in my right hand fails to serve a purpose. Yeah, turning the Wii remote sideways fixes that "problem" but so does putting a D-pad on the Nunchuck. Sony's Navigation Controller is a prime example of form before function. I can't imagine the D-pad on that thing being comfortable to use at all concurrently with the analog stick. It seems like you have to choose one or the other. Still, if any company can come up with a competent and comfortable design, it's Nintendo.

It's pretty self-explanatory. Mario is supposed to be the father of Peach's baby, but clearly isn't the very Bowser looking baby being handed to him.

Essentially, Mario = pwnt

As games, Super Mario Land 1 and 2 were neat-o for their time, but they're pretty forgettable. They'll always be remembered for introducing Daisy and Wario.

And 1 million win points for no water levels in DKCR.

Another stick in the place of the d-pad would be almost unusable given the design of the wiimote.  And I wouldn't get to play NSMBWii with a d-pad!
Classic Controller. Or the Nunchuck could be redesigned to include a D-pad. It may not be as pretty, but form follows function.

I have pretty small hands and I can only reach down on the D-pad without having to adjust.
You can reach the d-pad without taking your thumb off the control stick, unlike GC.
In that case, the d-pad on the Wii remote is more comparable to the c-stick on the Gamecube controller so that's not really a fair comparison. I'd honestly much rather have another analog stick than a D-pad.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Nintendo's got 700 Problems, but.......

If you honestly think that the D-Pad is more accessible on the Wii Remote, or that the + and - buttons even COUNT as "easily accessible," then you my friend have freaky monkey hands.

I'm sorry, buttons that are literally UNDER YOUR PALM when playing a game are not "accessible" at all, never mind easily.
Yeah, I agree. I can hit the + and - buttons okay, but I have to adjust my grip on the controller to reach the D-pad. And forget about 1 and 2 when using the Wii remote with the nunchuck.

I'm still having a hard time understanding your point. You said, "We don't need the games that are exclusive to certain systems to come over." Nobody needs these games, but people want them and if 3rd parties are willing to give us series A or series B, why not accept them? It's not a matter of expecting them to play the same way. Rather, people expect the quality associated with those series which of course you can get with an original IP, but if I like Gears of War, I want Gears of War and no new franchise is going to change that. The best developers can make a great game despite some limitations. Chains of Olympus is a God of War game through and through yet Ready at Dawn was minus 1 analog stick and 2 shoulder buttons.

And people aren't not asking for original games. They want established IPs and new IPs. Greedy but logical. I wish I only had to buy one console for all my gaming needs. What I don't think people are asking for is a new IP that's just an established franchise in disguise. Why not just get the established franchise and have a new IP be its own thing?

This is really silly.

We don't need the games that are exclusive to certain systems to come over.  We need new franchises that use those ideas similar or better, that can become exclusive to Nintendo franchises.
I think that's really silly. What the hell is the difference? If the choice is between Gears of War and a new IP that's similar, we might as well just get Gears of War. Unless Nintendo owns the rights, it's technically not exclusive because that company can put it on anything they please.

Does Microsoft even have a say? They publish the series for Epic Games, but I was always under the impression that Epic Games owns the IP. I'm legitimately asking as I haven't been able to confirm ownership of the series. I googled it quickly then gave up. I vaguely remember reading in an old magazine (probably EGM) that Microsoft did hold some exclusivity for the franchise though that may only apply to the trilogy which they're publishing, rather than the entire series.

I think it'd be interesting to see Gears of War appear on Nintendo hardware. Mark Rein can finally shut the f*ck up.

I highly doubt 3DS is anywhere near on par with PS3/360. Th shaders and small screen may blur bridge the gap, but in terms of horsepower, no way. I highly doubt Nintendo has 512MB of RAM in there. I'd like to see at least 128MB though.
I recall their reasoning for referring to the DS as the developer's system was because they loaded it with 'special features' like the mic and touch screen and wi-fi that were like different tools for an artist to make a great work however they wanted.
I think the difference here is that they didn't ask 3rd parties what they'd like to see in the DS. Nintendo chose the tools. I imagine the slide pad was created based on 3rd party feedback. Nintendo developed it in-house at the behest of 3rd parties. I'm not stating a fact, mind you. I just think that's probably how it went down.

That said, the next couple months may bring even more changes. We know the design isn't final and Nintendo actively sought feedback from 3rd parties. If 3rd parties can justify changes/additions in a way that improves game design, I think, now more than ever, Nintendo is more likely to entertain the thought.

Just because they're lacking, doesn't mean they haven't learned anything. They did openly admit that their online structure sucks. That's a step in the right direction.

It could easily take place after Resident Evil 5. Jill's new blonde look means next to nothing.

This is seriously like the most confusing game trailer ever. The guy in the chair looks like Chris but isn't Chris. Then, Jill points her gun at him then at the real Chris though since the guy in the chair isn't Chris but looks like him, real Chris might be another fake Chris and Jill might not even be the real Jill. Is Resident Evil headed down the clone plot device route? I guess that the only logical way to bring back the series' main villain.

At face value, it looks like the player takes control of Jill even though Chris narrates. There may be some Hunk levels too. This is shaping up to be like my dream Resident Evil game. Just give me Angela Miller and I might break and buy a 3DS when this comes out.

And the cycle repeats.  New Nintendo hardware.  Everyone on the forums start listing exclusives from other platforms, thinking they'll come....

Will the cycle continue or break this time?
I feel like the difference is that said exclusives were shown instead of having developers talk about how they're interested in the platform. I guess some or all of those games could be canceled or something but at least they were shown so that's still a good sign.

IGN new Nintendo Voice Chat podcast has a question from me. Apparently no dual input/multi input touch screen, and no rumble :-(
C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER....

I can live without rumble (would rather have it though), but the lack of multitouch is pretty much a fail.
