Nintendo Gaming / Re: Nintendo E3 2014.
« on: April 29, 2014, 07:24:16 PM »
Hopefully Nintendo shows of a trailer with atleast the logos of Metroid, Star Fox, Star Tropics, Punch-Out!, and a myriad of third parties that have had Wii U games in development show up at this year's E3. A reveal of a new Zelda is going to happen and X's name will be revealed along with more details about it.

Sony has moved to more standardized formats with their cameras.  Most likely because they have to compete with a larger market…and consumer friendly storage is a selling point.

Why have they not translated this logic into their handhelds? The lack of SD card support is the big reason as to why the Vita ultimately failed. They do make Sony branded SD cards, so why are they not usable in the Vita? They charge for their own memory cards to get back some of the money it takes to produce the OLED screen for the Vita, but then again the Vita 2000 should have an SD card slot. I would buy three 32 GB SD cards for the price of their one 32 GB proprietary cards.

TalkBack / Re: Comparing Wii U's Sales to GameCube, Wii

When Nintendo dies the industry dies along with them. The issues facing Nintendo are not so much issues facing just Nintendo, but symptoms of a disease infecting the entire gaming industry as a whole. Look at Sony, despite the record sales and profits from the PS4 Sony is still bleeding revenue and could be on the verge of insolvency. As for Microsoft, the fact that the new Spider-Man game is skipping the XBone while being available for the Wii U tells me that Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with their newest console.

While I am not ready to close the book on the Wii U just, there idea of the Wii U being the grand selling that any of its predecessors managed to be is a pipe dream. Although I am confident that the Wii U will surpass the Dreamcast's total sales, but it might not ever manage to beat twenty million units sold, perhaps it will fizzle out at fifteen million instead. As for placing blame, everyone else on this forum does a good job of pint out Nintendo for their faults and their guilt is certain.

Nintendo is really in the same position Sony was in last generation with PS3. Nintendo is actually the least conservative with the Wii U then they have been in the past. The streaming technology is Nintendo's blur ay and cell processor. It's costing them a lot of money.

Perhaps it is a total remake of Super Mario 64?

I am going to buy both versions. I am still upset that the subtitles have not been revealed for each game.

I remember reading that the creator of the game said that Microsoft was incredibly difficult to deal with and that the 360 version was not profitable at all.

Do you still get that Nintendo points discount for buying these games digitally with lower prices?

That's still too high for Ninja Gaiden 3. It should atleast be $14.99 since it is that cheap used.

Amazon is going hard, they already have my guys at Double helix and Eric Nylund.  But now Kim Swift (The creative mind behind portal) and Clint Hocking (Far Cry 2 Lead)  are joining Amazon studios.

Could the people that have recently departed Sony make their way to Amazon's game division? Does anyone think that all of these streaming boxes might pose a threat to Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft?

36
The era of big $500.00 consoles are over. If all of these streaming boxes take over it is going to leave the likes of Sony and Microsoft in the dust with third parties. If something like this Amazon Fire box supported Ps3 and 360 controllers with third party games on the service then I would be really worried.

37
Does anyone think that Microsoft will eventually get into a streaming service for Xbox similar to what Sony is doing with Playstation Now? Sort of like their version of the Ps Vita TV with a tiny streaming box to play Xbox Live and 360 games.

If it becomes a feature-parity issue they'll probably get on it, but then again Microsoft seems more interested in building a general media ecosytem than catering to the core enthusiast crowd. I'm also not sure there's going to be huge demand for streaming stale Xbox IPs when there will be plenty of stuff to take their place in various categories, including straight remakes of Halo and whatnot. Also the dangling question of whether or not they'll even stay in the video game sector long term.

I also recall reading something about Microsoft testing a streaming system and saying they couldn't get it up to consumer-grade marketability, and that they thought Sony was bluffing.

Supposedly Microsoft is working on cloud streaming for their other devices. It could be cheaper for them to offer a PS Vita TV style streaming box to compete with Sony. It could another selling point to the X1 as well.

The future of the Virtual Console services will be in a Netflix style streaming service similar to Sony's Playstation Now. It makes sense because it is the easiest and most efficient way for to Nintendo to allocate resources too such a program. Nintendo's next home console is going to most likely not be backwards compatible with their past consoles, or at least the Wii family.

TalkBack / Re: GBA Wii U Virtual Console Worldwide Line-Ups Revealed
« on: March 26, 2014, 10:44:05 PM »
OK, that's a good 1st month lineup. Now let's see if they drop the ball the following month like they usually do and we get a trickle of 1 game every 2-3 weeks. And by the way, Nintendo, more VC schedule releases, please. I like knowing just how pitiful the eShop's going to be ahead of time.

We all know there will be another VC drought.

"Please understand...."

NO!!! ROM dump the entire catalog, GBA, GB, NES, SNES, N64, and all the 3rd party systems you can get your hands on by the end of next year. VC is so far behind schedule it's ridiculous. You would think they had to remake each game to fit a custom emulator made specifically for each individual game.

The Wii U's physical game drought could be alleviated if Nintendo could back it up with a large digital game offerings like the Virtual Console.

If third parties are going to dump the Wii U the they need to cut the price of their digital games down to say $29.99, which is the price I am willing to pay for AC IV.

TalkBack / Re: 50+ Games Utilizing Unity on the Way to Wii U
« on: March 26, 2014, 03:34:27 PM »
Some where in an alternate reality Nintendo has created a game engine that allows third parties to easily port games to the Wii U from the PS4 with little hassle and difference. There are fifty first and third party titles announced for the Wii U. Games such as MGS V and Arkham Knight are deemed to be the definitive versions of those games over the PS4 and XBone.  ;)

44
Metroid reboot from Retro Studios, a new Star Fox game from Platinum Games, and a Super Mario RPG sequel developed by Monolith Soft.

45
A clear indication that Nintendo needs to throw as many of their first party titles they can muster to gain Wii U sales. The release of a new Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, Star Tropics, Advanced Wars, Fire Emblem, etc, would push the Wii U further to surpassing the Gamecube in sales.

Konami seems to be the EA of Japan when it comes to supporting Nintendo. They seem to have turned their back on Nintendo. We knew all along that if MGS V did not make it to Wii U then Snake would most likely be cut from Smash Brothers. Although I would like for him to return, I am not going to shed any tears if he does not come back to the roster due to the little support Konami has been giving Nintendo lately.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Why should Nintendo drop the GamePad?
« on: March 14, 2014, 09:04:06 PM »
I don't think Nintendo should drop the GamePad, but they should probably release a smaller, sleeker redesigned version. The GamePad is a monstrosity, it's simply too big. I became convinced of this when I witnessed my six-year-old nephew attempt to play NSMBU using the thing. He couldn't come close to gripping the controller or reaching all the buttons, and I doubt he's the only kid who has trouble with it. He just ended up using Boost Mode and I controlled Mario with a Wiimote, and he did so by setting the pad in his lap.

Myself, I have trouble with the top pair of shoulder buttons, and don't find it to be comfortable to hold.

I always thought Japan liked smaller controllers as well, which is a part of the reason the Nintendo 64 didn't do well there is because the controller was huge. I think there should be a GamePad that is shaped more like the Classic or Pro controller, but just with a screen in the middle. It certainly needs handles of some kind. I would probably buy a GamePad redesign to get a more comfortable controller.

I have been saying it until I am blue in the face that there needs to be a Game pad revision. Something that iis about the size of a PS Vita but with handles (accessory) that retails for about $99.99 and is more ergonomic in the hands. This is might boost Wii U sales in Japan because it would look more like a handheld rather than a tablet.

Any chance that Bravely Default could be ported or get a sequel for the Wii U to boost its sales?

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Watch_Dogs officially delayed... on Wii U
« on: March 12, 2014, 11:11:22 PM »
OK so pre-launch they come out and say they are not using the Gamepad it's a straight port and every one praises it as the savior of the Wii U, then it gets delayed to add gamepad support and now it's garbage that should have just been canceled all along? Did I miss something because that's how I been reading all the comments about this game for a while now. I think if they really can use the gamepad in a meaningful way that could be a big motivator for some, I know it got me to take a second look at Wii U after I had written it off as a purchase I would make second hand down the road.

Watch Dogs on Wii U boils down to sales potential. The game is not going to sell as well on the Wii U as other versions and because of this Ubisoft does not treat the game on Wii U as a priority. Although because the game is a new IP it might sell well on Wii U, but not as good as on PS4. As for the way the forum reacts to Watch Dogs Wii U news, it is all about the cynicism of being a Nintendo fan. We always get the short end of the third party stick.

I was reading about the Playstation Now service and it suddenly dawned on me that Sony's financial situation does not seem to be improving, or at least in the long term, and the Playstation Now service is their attempt to immortalize the Playstation brand into something that no longer makes big budgeted home consoles, but simply develops games and streams them to homes and devices.
