TalkBack / Re: Shovel Knight King Of Cards, Amiibo Delayed

While Shovel Knight is a great game I can not help but point out that the game is too clunky foritsown good. It gets to a pont where the game's mechanic makes it too frustrating to play the game too much. As for the possibility  of a sequel, Yacht Club Games needs to make the game more fluid and easier to access.

Well, it's disappointing to see Kingdom Hearts 3 top the charts. I've found it to be a pretty legitimately bad game, and I generally like the series.

I'll be curious to see what kind of staying power on the charts Mario & Smash will be. The Switch is going to be going through a dry spell for a while when it comes to major new releases.

They could fill the gaps with Wii U and 3DS game ports.

It seems to me that this game may have started life as a 3DS game and Nintendo ported the project to Switch for better sales.

Why is Johnny Metz no longer on the show?

I'm not sure if this is trolling or a legit question...

I have not kept up with the show for a long time, so I was just wondering.

The E3 show is going tbe way of the dinosaur, so Sony is going to copy Nintendo and have thier own Playstation Directs that speak directly to their fanbase. They will save millions of dollars in the long term by doin this and bypass any potential leaks about their products. Microsoft will eventually do the samething.

EA's killed another one: Visceral Games (the makers of the Dead Space series) is shutting down.

https://www.ea.com/news/an-update-on-the-visceral-star-wars-project

This press release just screams "They were making a Star Wars game we couldn't ruin with loot boxes, so we got rid of them & are starting over."

**** this industry. I liked Visceral.

Shameful that EA killed Visceral Games, but perhaps Microsoft can buyout EAand do the same to them.

This tells me that the future of JRPGs is going to be on handhelds. It would not surprise me to see in the future a numbered Final Fantasy (XVI) would appear on the Vita and 3DS successors. With the PS4 not selling so good in Japan it stands to reason that Sony will stay in the handheld market and companies will support Sony and Nintendo's handhelds there as the new normal. Hopefully this convinces SE to support the 3DS the same way they supported the PSP and a new Final Fantasy Tactics game is announced for it soon.

Nintendo needs to put Itagaki on their payroll and have him collaborate with Team Ninja to make Ninja Gaiden 4 a Wii U exclusive.

Iwata did say that mergers and aquisitions could save Nintendo's financial situation. Nintendo would be a fool to pass on the opprotunity to purchase such a company with such powerful IPs. Nintendo's power base would increase in the gaming industry. Securing Monster Hunter alone would ensure their dominance in Japan, and all of the hardcore titles would help close Nintendo's gaming droughts. I say let it happen.

Hopefully we get boss battles on a grander scale than those of God of War 3. As for the art style of the game, I was hoping Nintendo would go with the more dark and gothic style of Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess married to the style of the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series. Overall, the game is very impressive and once it gets here then I will be the first to buy it (twice).

An F-Zero for 3DS would make more sense since Mario Kart 7 came out almost two years ago. As for Metroid on 3DS, that Donkey Kong Country port was possibly a tech demo for a 2D Metroid for 3DS and Nintendo sold the game at retail to payback the research and development costs of porting the engine to the 3DS.

Overall, Nintendo won this year's E3 because it was the best they have had in nearly a decade. As soon as I saw the Zelda trailer Nintendo won the show in my heart. As for X and Bayonetta, those two games alone would be enough for me to buy a Wii U. Sadly no mention of a new Metroid or F-Zero game was a let down.

What I want is for Activision to create a Spider-Man equivalent to the Arkham series. Something thst is professionally done and gives you a reason to want to buy the game. These cheap movie tie-in games are just not worth the hassle. Pity Activision does not have a studio with the caliber of talent that is Rocksteady.

Wonderful 101 would have been perfect for something such as this. Although there is still potential for it in a possible sequel.

How much was the recorded loss that Sony posted recently? It was somewhere in the ball park of 1.3 billion. This is despite the record profits of the PS4. Granted Nintendo is losing money, but Sony's loses are three times as large as those of Nintendo. Nintendo can turn it around a lot easier than Sony.

There needs to be a Megaman X game for the 3DS. Perhaps it could be called "Megaman X9", or "Megaman Xtreme 3" since it would be a handheld title. Although Capcom would just cancel it before it was released.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U in Review (News & Rumor Consolidation)
« on: May 03, 2014, 02:44:10 AM »

Nintendo could alleviate the Wii U's issues by simply upping the ante of their game development and hitting their core audience with quality titles. As for the 3DS successor, that system is not going anywhere for atleast two years. The Wii U and 3DS successors must be revealed at the same time. Nintendo is trying to close the gap between home console and handheld and the best time to that is right now with the 3DS and Wii U so that the infrastructure exists in the future. They need to get the universal system account going sooner  rather than later.

Ideally they would announce both end of 2015 and launch them both in 2016.

but upping the ante of their game development? I'm not sure what that means. Did you mean upping the amount of their games in development? or raising the stakes on the types of games they develop (genres & IPs)?

Boosting production at this late stage in the game wouldn't bear fruit till maybe 2 years from now.
changing the types of games they are making would probably take just as long if not longer.

But if they got started now, the successor systems should have an awesome launch.

There is no doubt that Nintendo has accelerated their plans for their next consoles. However, it would cost them too much money to replace what they have right now. As for Nintendo upping the ante in their games, Nintendo needs to bring back all of their dormant franchises to the Wii U, which would include Metroid. The systems needs games and with the new Call of Duty looking less likely for the Wii U they need a hell of lot more than what they are churning out now, and no casual title is going to push systems.

Nintendo could build bridges for their next systems by extending olive branches in the present. They could money hat Rockstar to make a remake of Max Payne that is exclusive to the Wii U. Or they could do a Spec Ops sequel for the Wii U. They could bribe Metal Gear Reveangance 2 onto the Wii U. The potential is limitless and with the industry as cash strapped as it is having a five billion dollar war chest is a blessing one could use to their advantage.

Zelda Wii U has to be shown this year. All of the Wii U's big guns will be out by the end of the year and Bayonetta 2 and X are just not major system sellers to garner enough interest in the console through 2015. Although Nintendo has more games up their sleeves for this year's E3.

Honestly, I am betting on a Gamepad revisions that resembles a handheld, and possibly has the features need to to tap into wi-fi to play Wii U games anywhere on the go. This would make sense for a Japanese audience. Although I would not rule out a 3DS player for the Wii U considering that DS games are coming to its Virtual Console. Overall, Nintendo will unveil a universal system account between the Wii U and 3DS to bridge the gap for the inevitable hybrid to be revealed in a few years.
