Day 4: PONG Mafia XXXVIII
« on: October 16, 2009, 08:57:08 AM »
On the third night, the voices of the paddles were heard loud and clear.  thatguy, was removed by force from the black and white landscape.  On his way out the door, he was heard screaming "Do you know who I am?!  I'm Crimson, the baddest paddle this side of the dotted line!  You'll all regret this!!"

The celebratory mood after discovering one of the vile mafia members was short lived, as Plugabugz, the "Tricky" Green Paddle, was found face down in the mud the next morning with quarters taped over his eyes.  A note was found on his body that read "Crimson's Revenge"

Results from Day 1:
Death by Vote: thatguy (mafia)
Death by Hit: Plugabugz ("Tricky" Green Paddle)

There's a really good chance Stratos isn't mafia.

Thatguy voted for Stratos yesterday when my vote was still for Stratos (which would have tied it up at 3 to 3).  Since he and I were chatting via PM thatguy could have asked me to change my vote to anyone else with 1 vote against them (also tying it up at 3 to 3 when thatguy did the same) but he didn't--he chose to vote Stratos.

Why would a mafia henchman with no special power try to get another mafia member voted off (especially when the green paddle was still alive)?  It doesn't make sense.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! While I was a little suspicious of thatguy, I wasn't ready to vote him out quite yet. Good call townies! :D

I'm not convinced on Stratos either... will have to look into this a little better.

edit: Looking Closer at the Data, an Agatha Christie Mystery Interlude

thatguy - 4
vudu - 3
Stratos - 2
nickmitch - 1
Mop_It_Up - 1

What can we learn from this?
  • Thatguy voted for Stratos. Why? He could've forced a tie by voting for vudu, which was his best shot at survival—not voting for someone with only one other vote.
  • It was a tight vote last night. If mafia were voting for thatguy, they could've changed and saved one of their own... Two reasons they didn't: either they didn't want to cast suspicion on themselves when he was found out to be mafia (likely) OR they were already voting for other people (I understand this puts me on the suspicion list, heh...)

Anything else?

When thatguy voted for Stratos, Stratos had two votes against him, not one.  I changed my vote to thatguy at the very last minute.  Until then, my vote was for Stratos.  thatguy thought he was forcing a 3 to 3 tie.

Jugding from the fact that Thatguy was a powerless member to begin with, the reason he didn't try to tie the vote may have been to avoid the risk of killing Vudu. That means Vudu could very likely be the Black or Clear paddle.

I started getting suspicious of Thatguy once Maxi got killed.

I was suspicious of Vudu because of his association with Thatguy, but he is defending me now and also may have been a victim of following Thatguy like I was.

I thought it odd how Thatguy didn't seem to mind me forcing the day two bandwagon to go from UncleBob to Dasmos. It was because he knew both were townies so either way he won something.

Fine I figure if I don't get any protection tonight I'll be dead. Yes I am the investigator thatguy was talking to, and no doubt the mafia knows me now. The only reason I think I lived last night is because I told thatguy who I was investigating and he knew they were a townie so no harm done.

Vote Oohhboy, because he voted at the last minute yesterday to try and save Thatguy.

That doesn't make sense, thatguy didn't want to be save (or he would have tie the vote) and it was unclear that thatguy was even mafia (ie The mafia killing khush and maxi; the two people he was working with. The hell?).

I'll join the Stratos bandwagon for now

He didn't tie it because Vudu was supposed to change his vote too. Thatguy referred to it as a backstab on Vudus part I believe.

Look at these back-to-back posts from the dead thread:
To answer a question that wasn't directed at me:

No. It must be bold! VOTE VUDU!. It's the only way to vote.

Hey, I don't make the rules--I just point out those that don't follow them when it's to my benefit.

You just stab people in the back when the same person is trying to do something to save you :/

Why would I try to swing the vote at the absolute very last minute knowing I didn't have enough votes to make the swing, let alone the tie?

You were never in any danger Vudu, but if you wish to vote me out of vendetta, so be it. I will defend myself and fellow townies by attempting a tie. If you are a townie, tie up the game so no one needs to die. It will give the investigator time to sort out who from who.

The oohhboy vote make no sense. Thatguy successfully killed all of his friends proving he doesn't play well with others as well as giving himself the title of the sorriest sad sap who all of his townie friend got killed by the mafia. He even got the investigator and Green to give their roles out to him. At the time vudu was and is still more likely to be mafia.
