Topic: No one plays Animal Crossing online?

I just got New Leaf a couple days ago. I finished moving in, bought my first house, and settled in the town. I went to the train station to set up online connectivity, and no one is online. I've tried doing this on multiple occasions; no one comes to visit my town, and no towns are listed that I can travel to.

I want to improve my town a little bit before opening the gates: get some fruit trees ready, actually have a little house to show instead of a tent, etc.  So I'm taking a few days to get my game rolling before holding open invitations.  Seems like others have a similar opinion.


My guess is that gates will be open much more often in the near future.

i am just too paranoid about my perfect fruit  harvest. i'm also occupied atm with gracie
and i time travel enough that i should find a tardis pattern for my flag...

When I first played the game, I didn't realize that the town gate was for people on your friends list only, and worldwide connectivity happens on the tropical island.

My major problem with online has been I haven't had much longer than 15-20 mins to sit down and play a day recently. If I open my town up during that short time I can't donate items to the museum and such.

I really wish you could host your town while your 3DS is in sleepmode.  So I could just leave it on and plugged in.

I have to place most of the blame for why my gate is almost always closed on the game itself. You can barely do anything while the gate is open...it's boring. I'm sure there are technical reasons for why I can't institute an ordinance while the gate is open or donate to the museum while someone is visiting, but it's still lame.
