Nintendo has dropped the price of three amiibo from its lineup of available Super Smash Bros. figurines.

Starting now, gamers can pick up Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Princess Peach for just $9.99 a pop, which is a few bucks cheaper than the standard $12.99 price tag.

All three of these amiibo are compatible with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Yoshi will undoubtedly be compatible with the upcoming Wii U exclusive Yoshi's Wooly World, and Peach can be used in a handful of Mario-themed titles.

Huh, I wonder what's the deal with these price drops. Weren't these among the best-sellers?

I wonder if it has something to do with the Super Mario Amiibo line for Mario party? Perhaps recognizing that some people may just buy one version of that character.

I thought Iwata said something about the price of Amiibo being consistent so as to not confuse consumers about perceived value or some junk.

Every store I go to there are racks filled with Peach amiibos. Nintendo's probably starting to get some backlash as the same 3-4 common amiibos have taken over their available shelf space.
