I voted Super Mario World because I don't remember the last time I played it and it will be easy to just pick up and play it throughout the week. This will be the first RetroActive I play, that depends on the game though...

Anyway, I might have to play the winner through (as Broodwars puts it) alternative methods. I have a pretty good gaming computer, and already have emulators for the old systems (2600 and others). It won't be that hard to find something that will work. If anyone knows of a reliable and virus-free SNES emulator, could you please tell me?

Just a warning, but I don't think you're allowed to ask that here.

I think people who threaten and strong-arm others into voting a certain way via PM should be disqualified for interfering with the vote and obstructing democracy from taking it's course.

Yeah, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System is a great one that will play every SNES game out there.

Agreed, Cho Aniki should have won. I am waiting for Lindy's strike so we play it!

I am really looking forward to Lindy announcing on the next podcast that "this is Week 1 of Cho An-Strikey!" (or something to that effect)

Well, I've narrowed down my vote to two choices.

Donkey Kong Country 2, because I'm going to get them all anyway and it would be nice to discuss it when I do.

Super Mario RPG, because it's been a while since last I played it.

The great thing about this poll though is that all but one of the games on it is fairly cheap.

Who wants to buy my vote?

I was considering it but I've played it way too much. It wouldn't be as interesting as something I've never played (and therefore could offer a fresh perspective of) or an RPG with vastly differing successors.

I don't think we need to retun to ActRaiser on RFN.  We have covered this game extensively, and this is coming from a major fan.

SMW: done to death.  I'd much rather do something unique and new.
SMRPG: I always thought this was over-rated as a game.
DCK#: Long established as being over-rated.

Expensive and sounds really boring, admittedly inaccessible by the one who nominated it.

I could actually get behind that one. The two Mystical Ninja games on the Nintendo 64 are both pretty good, though I've heard that they're better than the Super NES one. But there's only one way to find out!

I think I was quite explicit in the nominations thread that I was against Ogre Battle getting into one of these polls, and that if we were to nominate a game in the series it would have to be the Nintendo 64 iteration that basically takes everything the original did and makes it playable.  But it's here now so I guess that's one of its strikes down the drain.  Only 2 more and you won't ever have to complain worry about it ever again.

Did I technically nominate it, then?

~Edit
DrewMG technically nominated it. Also two other people as well. Neither Broodwars or myself did from the looks of things.

~Edit 2
Breath of Fire II: I always wanted to play this game.

Ogre Battle: Same reason.

Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen - In honor of Ogre Battle 64 getting mentioned as a "top 3" game in the podcast, why not explore this deep strategy game to see how it holds up today?

Donkey Kong Country 2 is one of my favorite games, I'd never played it until it came out on the VC but now I love it. I like it a lot more than Super Mario RPG but I think that would give a lot better discussion so I went with that. I hope World doesn't win or else I might alienate everyone here with my hatred of that game.

Naw, I think it would be a good discussion point. We've already had a few good conversations in both the Galaxy 2 thread and the NSMBWii thread about your dislike of World. Conflict breeds better discussion and understanding. Would be rather boring if everyone was all "It's a good game, yay".

I'm sorry you have to play the GBA version of that game. The gameplay is fine--I kind of like the differences between Mario and Luigi they added--but the music was totally botched.

I don't know, sometimes it can be fun to spit in the face of popular opinion. It's certainly a unique experience unlike any other.

I voted for Super Mario World as it's one of the few in the list I own (along with SMRPG and DKC2). It's one of my favorite SNES titles, and I think it can get overshadowed by SMB3.

Either way, I look forward to hearing discussion on any of the listed games.

Yeah, some of the secret levels at the end are better played with Luigi. I usually mute my DS, so the music differences don't really bother me.
