Wow. Thanks a lot guys, I was not expecting to get such good responses so quickly. Azeke, unfortunately I already posses the video linked in your archive, but the link MegaByte got is completely new to me (and makes me jealous, they got to play awesome Mute City in all it's pre-release glory.)

Wayback Machine is new to me and I absolutely love it. I recovered an old video link on the f-zero.com website that has been down for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, the first snapshot of the /movies/ archive/page, while it holds aou_l.mpeg, does not link correctly (error 302 - redirect) and is the only snapshot of when the link was live.

I'm very grateful for the help guys. I'll try and make something so you can all see what the hell I'm actually doing with all this material. :)

An article posted on Planet GameCube by Bakudan Yoshinoya way back on October 30th, 2002 linked to 3 videos held on Planet GameCube's servers. Obviously since then the site has migrated and became NWR. However, I would like to know if those bits of media are now on the NWR database (simply miss linked, as I know images are still accessible.) It would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing what appears to be the annual endeavour of uncovering pre-release material for F-Zero GX and AX. The article I'm referring to proceeds:

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 367: Rubbin' is Racin'
« on: January 27, 2014, 01:08:29 AM »
I loved this episode! I'm sad I missed the live recording and not having called in myself. F-Zero is the series nearest and dearest to me. I would absolutely love it if we could talk about it sometime. F-Zero has gained a decent amount of popularity after this year's AGDQ run which featured runs of each mainline console game performed by world record holders. I know your time is precious, but it would be a pleasure of mine to talk with you all about the series. I've been a huge advocate of the games, being the one who has dug up much of the unused content in GX, rummaged through ungodly amounts of pre-release materials, making tons of cross-references between regions and documented loads of AX's ROM. If ever you wish to learn more about F-Zero, game mechanic wise or as a series, I implore you to get in touch with me. In any case, I wish for you all happy gaming and to keep on F-Zero-ing. Cheers.  :D

F-Zero GX. Going on 2 years in May. Honestly the deepest action game I've touched. (Though I do love me some Melee and Advance Wars.) :3

TalkBack / Re: Wind Waker HD Sets Sail for North America on October 4

A great way to add value to the bundle would be to release that bundle on October 1st (Sunday) or October 2nd (Monday). Now THAT would get some people buying it.

The staff here is pretty set on Retro's game being Metroid. If you ask me, I'm betting all on that it is Starfox. It feels right for some reason. Also, I'd just like to say that I'm tired of Metroid. Those games are great (in general) but jeez! Pace yourselves, Nintendo. Come back with things like Starfox and F-Zero, much like you did with Metroid after the absence on N64, and dribble them out on a bidecade basis or something.

For whatever reason, I find this genius. The video was pretty funny, too!

If you ask me, this is just another reason why Kotaku (in general) is a load of ****. Not to say that all the writers there are horrible abominations of mankind or anything, but I do feel and believe that Kotaku has not been credible for quite some time now. The only thing they've been good at lately seems to be flame wars and causing a stir. Anyway, I hope Precursor gets the funding the need.

Also, as for readers, please use your heads! Don't take any news as fact until you've thought it over! Please! More ignorance is the last thing we need on the internet. Though most people reading this will probably use their heads to begin with.

TalkBack / Re: Yakuza 1&2 HD Coming to Wii U in Japan
« on: May 17, 2013, 11:18:45 AM »
I hope that the discussion encompasses more than just Yakuza. Not that I don't want them to talk about it, just hoping that there will be mentioning F-Zero (GX) to some degree. Would be nice to get some acknowledgement from Iwata. This might also be a good starting point into Yakuza for Nintendo fans, especially if they release 3+ on Wii U.

TalkBack / Re: F-Zero AX Uncovered within GameCube F-Zero GX

Hey, you should update this article's codes! With the amount of attention these codes are getting I went back to see if Ralf updated the code, and he did about 3 weeks ago. It fixes issues with track/backdrop/audio issues on the selection screen. I also revamped that section of the TCRF article with both PAL and NTSC codes (both AR and Gecko/Ocarina), as well as some supplemental information. ;)

I hope Ralf (the creator of this code) manages to crack through to the E3 demo. He's stated in another forum post that the content (menues, I guess?) are still on the disc - which is just another awe this game still holds secret.

I'm glad to see everyone giving The Cutting Room Floor's F-Zero GX page some love. Never thought anyone would read the page, but I've been happily disproven. I just find it odd that no one else documented the cheat before - it's been out since the end of November 2012. Not long, but still a few months. Anyway, thanks for posting this and any readers going to TCRF, please give the AX article some love! Anyone with knowledge on C and D, should you love F-Zero (GX/AX), there's still stuff hidden in AX. C:

General Gaming / Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest Demo PCB on Ebay
« on: December 22, 2012, 01:02:48 PM »

I don't know if anyone is interested when test/demo cartridges are unearthed, but I am. While browsing on ebay I stumbled across what is supposed to be a demo pcb (it doesn't look like a cart to me anyway) of Dragon Quest. One of the DIP chips is labelled "Dragon Warrior" with "A Pr. 6.89 CH(2 or 8, I can't tell)" underneath. As usual, the price is high at 2400$ (but way better than the absurd 50 000$ most people put on well known/popular games). The only information given is this "This was legally obtained from a liquidation asset auction back in the 90s. I have no idea how to get this thing to work, I have never seen a board like this before." I find it cool. I've always loved these sort of beta ROMs since it gives you a glimpse of what the game was like during development or ideas that never made it into the final release. Anyway, I'd like to know your thoughts on this. C:

TalkBack / Re: Hacker Reveals Wii U CPU Clock Details
« on: December 02, 2012, 12:05:55 AM »
I wish people realized that things such as architecture, threads per core, RAM/CPU/GPU efficiency, latency and a slew of other things contribute to a console's performance.

And to Mop it Up, since the ports of other games where coded to used the the CPU as the main source of processing power rather than the GPU, it would make sense. Nintendo's games probably use more power but are coded efficiently and to the specs of the system.

TalkBack / Re: Miyamoto Shares Thoughts On Wii U F-Zero, Metroid
« on: November 04, 2012, 06:17:35 PM »

I find it funny how Nintendo, back in the early 2000s, handed it's IPs to everyone (less Mario and Zelda). Metroid was lucky to have stuck with Retro, and Kirby was always mostly a HAL Labs project. But Starfox and F-Zero got the shitty end of the stick. Starfox core gameplay was altered, F-Zero handheld versions were godawful, and GX had only decent sales. Then they come at us saying "oh, no one liked them" when no duh! They sucked compared to the originals. So don't come saying we don't want them! Make a masterpiece with your own hands rather than throwing them at random developers. :|

If you ask me, the scariest Nintendo game out there is Metroid Fusion. When I was 10 that game scared the crap out of me on several occasions. :L

By any chance does anyone know if the "Speed Up" mechanism is only used in multiplayer? It makes sense that the screen auto-scrolls for multiplayer as it stops any player from running ahead and grieving all it's partners. I hope that single player doesn't do that though. :L

Also, is the ability to pop your own bubble new this game? I can't remember doing that in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
