It doesn’t get any earlier than this.

The tick-tock pattern of retail games on Nintendo consoles is in a “tock” this week, so the only game for North America in that lot is Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash’s preload. That’s not to say there’s no games releasing this week, though; the Sonic-inspired platformer Freedom Planet and the manic multiplayer party game Toto Temple Deluxe headline a busy week for the Wii U eShop. We hope to have reviews of those later this week or early next week, assuming the Toto Temple review’s playdate goes according to plan.
On the Virtual Console, as the 3DS drought enters its eighth month and we begin to examine if that’s enough to declare it legally dead, while the Wii U picks up River City Ransom. May you have many moments of beating the BARF out of people. The 3DS eShop returns from its own brief hiatus with Kemco's latest RPG localization, Chronos Arc.
Europe does get a retail game releasing this week in the form of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and their first 3DS preload – as well as what may be the first 3rd party preload anywhere besides Japan – with Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden. But a word of warning: There’s an eShop game coming out nearly a year and a half later than in North America, with no discount, and was broken on half of its platforms at last report. Caveat emptor on 1001 Spikes.
