I have a lot of problems with Bravely Default to do with its boring dungeons, the infamous middle section, and two of the four party members (Agnès and Tiz specifically) being very boring cardboard characters. With all that said, this series probably has my favourite variation on turn based JRPG combat next to the Grandia style so I forgive it of all those problems. It helps that BD had a phenomenal soundtrack. Basically, I'm all in for Bravely Second just by virtue of the battle and job system being so great. Anything else that comes as an improvement will be a pleasant surprise.

It blows my mind how consistently great and packed with creative ideas EAD Tokyo's games are. I would love to visit them for a day just to see what goes on in there.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 389: Best Practices

While I'm not one if those people that thinks the GameCube controller is the best ever (as it does have some significant problems), I still really like certain elements from it. If Nintendo ever makes a console with a traditional controller again I think they would be wise to iterate on some of the GameCube controller's features.
For me, it's main problems are the terrible Z button (and the lack of having a left shoulder Z button) and the C stick being a little nub instead of a full, normal analogue stick.

If they took the good elements like the mush-click L and R triggers while adding proper L and R shoulder buttons, keep the same comfortable grip and change the C stick to a normal stick I think they would really have one of the best controllers. The weird ABXY button layout I can live with or without, though I know most people like the traditional SNES diamond configuration (and we're all just more used to it at this point), so if they ever took inspiration from the GameCube controller they'd probably be best to keep the ABYX buttons in the diamond configuration.

While I agree with you guys that Nintendo shouldn't keep stringing the GameCube controller along for every console, I think that controller had some great features and elements that I'd like to see come back since nobody has really done some things like its mush-click shoulder buttons since. That is, unless you count their useless inclusion on the original Wii Classic Controller. Basically what I'm saying is give me L and R buttons like the GameCube.

TalkBack / Re: Mutant Mudds Deluxe Update Coming to 3DS July 3

It's always cool when developers add free content to their games so long after release. Props to Renegade Kid for this!

If they're putting in such minor characters I hope this is a sign that we really will have a huge list of playable characters like Aonuma said. I'd love to see the ridiculousness of characters like Malon, Ingo and Tingle. Epona would even be a cool playable fighter, complete with talking horse dialogue! I hope they really go all out and have all sorts of obscure NPCs (and let us maybe play as villains).

General Gaming / Re: What is your most recent gaming purchase?

A few days ago I picked up LittleBigPlanet Vita when I saw it for $20 at Best Buy. I always meant to get it and it seemed like a fair price. I don't think it's been on PS+ yet in North America either and if it has, I guess it's too late now...
I usually try not to go on big buying sprees and just buy what I know I'll immediately play.

TalkBack / Re: Shovel Knight (Wii U) Review

I always though this game was looking really good in prerelease videos and now I'm convinced with all the good reviews it's getting, I just need to decide whether I want it on Wii U or 3DS. I know controls are probably better on Wii U, but I do like the 3D in these games and having it portable. I did enjoy Mutant Mudds more on 3DS than Wii U so maybe I'll like this one better there too.

Nintendo really has no excuse for not having a port of it at least announced as Minecraft is already out or coming soon to just about every other platform. I'm not really interested on playing Minecraft on 3DS or Wii U, but I know a lot of kids are. Even if most people who want Minecraft have it in some form by now Nintendo is still missing out by not having this huge game on their platforms. Really, it seems like something they should have had ready or at least announced for Wii U at its launch.

I finished Kirby: Triple Deluxe yesterday and I think it's probably my favourite standard style Kirby game. I'm not a huge fan of Kirby's standard style games usually (being games like Kirby's Adventure, Return to Dreamland etc.) but I really enjoyed this one.

I thought it had some cool uses of 3D, especially with the background and foreground layers of the levels. The segments of levels with the laser Kirby holds to kill enemies and blocks in the background while avoiding obstacles in the foreground was a cool idea, as were other items like the canon.

The bonus games were cool too. Kirby fighters was a fun little Super Smash Bros-esque mode that I'd imagine would be more fun if you had someone else to play with locally. The real gem, though, is Dedede's Drums. I really loved these levels and it's a shame there's only four. I would totally buy a full eShop game because it has a lot of potential to be fleshed out.

My only real complaint is that - like most Kirby games, the game is very, very easy.
I did unlock the mode at the end where you play through the game as King Dedede but I think I'll go back to that later. Good game though!

Also, hi everyone! This is my first post!
