Nintendo Gaming / Re: Has anyone else tried Sands of Destruction?
« on: February 28, 2010, 06:53:56 PM »
Yeah I heard about the ridiculous battles in a few reviews of the game.  When the enemies are having multiple turns to attack you is a bit ridiculous.  I was really interested in the game but immediately turned away from it when I read the reviews.  I'm all for challenging gameplay in an age of Hard = Normal Mode, but that's a bit overboard there.

got this one and already found some guys at the office bringing theirs in.  Buddy at work had the Arcade Stick, nice to use but since the games moves are pretty simplistic for the most part an arcade stick is a bit overkill.  I did however find it a lot more comfortable after getting used to the joystick and button layout.  Only got about an hours worth using the Arcade Stick and didn't notice any input lag or anything....however if you played it online I have no idea if that would even work well.

Love the game so far though, any Street Fighter fan should definitely give this a go.

I can see some sales for this.  I've had many friends tell me they love the DS library of games but hate the small screens.  One particular friend of mine loves tactics rpgs but has a hard time finding console releases as most of these are on handhelds now.  If only Nintendo would copy the tv connection feature the PSP has.

Personally though I'm not buying it....said no to the DSi and I'll say no to this one as well.

Curious if another dev/pub would be better to handle the franchise.  I mean Yukes and THQ have done quite well lately with Smackdown and UFC IMO, but I always wonder if some other dev could blow them outta the water.

Anyways to answer your question about Jakks Pacific, they make all the WWE toys, and some random handful of controller to tv games.  THQ and WWE both no longer want Jakks Pacific in the deal.  I have no idea if THQ makes toys but they might have before hence the acronym Toy Headquarters (THQ).

You know if you have a ps3 you can just make a japanese PSN account and download it right?  Well if it is a PSN game....I'm actually not sure on that.

However there seemed to be some pics of the game that led me to believe you could customize ur character, kind of like building with legos.  If so I have to get it.  Since the PS3 is region free I'll import it if i can't download it.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this game yet but watching some videos on it and it definitely reminds me of Zelda LttP.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYxtqct0USI&feature=player_embedded

First time i saw screenshots of the game I had no idea it was gonna be like Zelda Lttp, as cool as it sounds though I just hope Nintendo doesn't intervene on them.  It's one of a very small list of games I'm looking forward to on my PS3.

did i read that correctly...."There will be prizes, entertainment, punishments and much more."

I hope the little bros and sisters aren't involved in that.  Besides that though I'll probably check it out, thumbs up to you guys.

Are we sure that they aren't just using the Dualshock3 to demo due to an unfinished 2nd control device?

If they don't make some other controller device like the nunchuk then its gonna fail.  I just tried holding a wii mote and a Dualshock3 together....it doesn't work very well.

If I'm sitting down and i can rest the Dualshock3, then its not that bad.  However standing and using both is a bit trickier.  I found myself wanting to hold the Dualshock3 at an angle so the weight doesn't anchor my hand downwards.  This causes my ability to use the analog stick to be very inaccurate and just feels completely awful.  I also seemed to have to re-grip the controller a couple times after pressing buttons and such.

This reminded me of when trying to replicate the wii mote would play like before the Wii came out ;D

Be careful buddy.....I started off by purchasing some Tales of Symphonia Gashapons/Gachapons, since then I've upgraded my addiction to purchasing Figures up to about 13 inches (expensive).

I think the most expensive so far is the Capcom Ibuki figure i bought, though my favorite is probably the Disgaea Pleinair figure which i caught for pretty cheap (Wind Waker Gashapons close 2nd because the eyes move when u turn their heads hilarious looking).

that's what i was hoping but walking through with the tech support we found that none of it was working when simply trying to download licenses.  They ended up giving me step by step instructions on deleting stuff and re-downloading them.  Total pain in the rear.

ARGH!  That's exactly what happened, they were supposed to transfer the licenses over and ship it to me but they didn't.  Worst part about that is I also had to go and delete my downloaded content and redownload each of them from scratch.  It took a ridiculous amount of time redownloading all of those Rock Band tunes.......I didn't bother redownloading various map packs to a few FPS that i no longer play, that would have probably doubled the amount of time it took.

I wonder if this means I cannot use the transfer utility until next year now?  I'm sure sometime sooner or later I will get the itch to buy a new 360.....seeing as how my current one I believe is either a Zephyr or Falcon system which both still suffer from RROD.  Oh well I'll bite the bullet when it comes time.

General Gaming / Got my 360 repaired....now i need help with DLC
« on: February 15, 2009, 07:25:52 PM »
So I got my 360 repaired (microsoft actually just sent me a refurb) and now my downloadable content doesn't work offline.  If I'm online it works fine but seeing as how I take my 360 downstairs to the living room for rock band it has to be played offline....

Called Microsoft after I followed their instructions that they included with the 360 refurb.  I tried re-downloading all the content through the account management menu and also through the in-game rockband music store.  Over the phone Microsoft had me recover my gamertag which didn't work and wasted a lot of time >:(

So what do i do now?  I also have a few arcade games that are effected by this.  This has already wasted a month's worth of xbox live......so that xbox live month compensation card to me seems like nothing to me.  Just so annoyed right now :(

hey I'll jump to the moon if they can give me some type of hard drive support......it aggravates me everytime they want me to update a channel or something and i don't have enough room to even do that, let alone get a new vc or wiiware game.  Hey Nintendo I still have like $5 just waiting to be spent.

Anyways thanks for the article, it's reassuring that they are trying.

fun time guys, calling it a night for me too....I blame my failures on walking off the edge to my death due to lag.....okay that and im terrible at the game

oops, some reason I completely read "Atlus" instead of "NIS".  I'll admit if I see either of them as the publisher for a game, I'm pretty much all in.

Hopefully it'll get a port onto the DS or PS2.....I wonder how hard it would be for them to put it up on the WiiWare, Live, or PSnetwork.  If they went that route they could probably cut a lot of their expenses and increase their profit margin.

NIS has been very sony centric (PS2 market share) and recently they started making DS games with a port of Disgaea 1 and a port of a PS1 game Rhapsody: A musical adventure. They also have one DS game called A Witch's Tale that was supposed to come out last Halloween but I heard that one got pushed back. And they are porting Phantom Brave to the Wii.

You forget they also put out some original games for the DS instead of the ports you mentioned in Luminous Arc 1 and 2. :'(

You know I've actually boughten games that have been given review scores as low as a 6 out of 10.  The way I see it is if the pros outweigh the negatives and I can see myself enjoying the game for what I'm paying for I'll definitely buy it.  Actually one game I bought was reviewed at 3.5 out of 10 by most places but that was largely due to the original batch of the game having a critical game stalling bug.

As for the Conduit, If I ever find my way out of unemployment it will most likely be a first week buy for me.....I'm lazy and also refuse to pay shipping via amazon.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: ESRB spills the beans on Sonic Chaos a 2D sonic game
« on: February 03, 2009, 06:25:14 PM »
I don't mean difficulty, I mean crap like a run sequence stopping you with a wall and a split second later having spikes pop out of the ground directly under you (obviously since you were just running you didn't get to observe that there are spikes) or worse stopping you right under a moving block that, if you time it wrong (and you can't time it yourself because you don't see how a block half across the map moves when you enter the race section), crushes you almost instantly and kills you even if you did have rings.

I hate that @#$%, I imported the first Naruto DS game and you would constantly have to jump to the next platform where you couldn't see that an enemy was there waiting to hit you and automatically sent you flying to your death.  It would have been a decently bearable game but it had so many random deathtraps that you couldn't finish an area without at least dieing 3-4 times.

It's especially annoying in Sonic games because the best moments in Sonic games is when you feel like you are on a constant roller coaster, last time i remembered random death on a roller coaster was a bad thing.  Difficulty/Frustration....a fine line that apparently some developers decide to act like a drunk after being pulled over.

General Gaming / Re: Resident Evil 5 is the greatest thing ever.
« on: February 03, 2009, 06:11:44 PM »
I kind of agree with KnowsNothing, RE4/RE5 both have some pretty extensive changes from the series.  For the most part the series has taken you through a mansion, train, and raccoon city (all relatively small in scope and all with a pretty straight forward horror movie like plot) then you get RE4:  village in spain, castles, underground caves, etc with a plot being the president's daughter has been kidnapped in spain by a possible terrorist organization......if that doesn't smell spin off i don't know what does.  However, story aside the game was vastly improved upon while keeping a lot of the spirit of the series.

That being said I loved RE4, probably my favorite game last gen but I hated the story.  The jetski ending reminded me of some crappy horror movie that i can't remember the name of now......something about thieves wanting to rob a cruise ship only to find all of the passengers dead.  They ended up riding jetskis out to some island then all of a sudden you hear like a dinosaur scream...lame.
