Can't say too much from my end. RE 4 was a shoe-in. There might as well be the RE 4 award.  Minish Cap too.

2k6 is going to be a very interesting year. I foresee many changes ahead. And I'm confident that the PGC staff will take us through these changes in style. [/brown nosing]

Hopefully the bitching will be kept to a minimum.  But since I'm the first post, I won't hold my breath.

Not bad, I was surprised to see Jungle Beat get runner up for best graphics, I figured people would have forgotten about it's gorgeous visuals (because they're too busy having fun).

Biggest disspointment is the weak Rev specs though?  Come on.  I think Zelda getting pushed back a year (or half a year, or WHATEVER BIGJIM) is more disappointing than "weak rev" especially when we haven't seen any proof.  And Pokemon XD for even being nominated for most disappointing game?  Who actually thought it would be good?  Also, ACWW needs to be the runner up for GOTY for the DS

>=U

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Because we can" is such an awesome quote, but Miyamoto's takes the cake.  Best moment of E3.
But, we haven't gotten proof Zelda is being pushed back a year yet either.
Not too many surprising "winners" this time around. It's been sort of a skimpy year.
Jump Superstars wasn't even a runner up for best port?  Conspiracy I say, conspiracy!
I wasn't completely shock by anything, other than best port winner(Yes, I own JSS).  I was also more impressed by the visuals in Nintendogs than Mario Kart...but Mario Kart is funner.
Well one of the things about Mario Kart's graphics is that at certain times you can see large areas of the track at once, and the framerate doesn't slow down and I don't notice any pop-ups. Nintendogs definitely has some great animation though.
While I think Minish Cap deserves its awards, I also wish that DK: King of Swing could somehow be mentioned because it had some really fun, innovative gameplay.
I'd also like to gloat and say that I've been to Nintendo's pre-E3 conference the past four years in a row.
wow, I actually agree with pretty much everything this year. except developer that needs to give up on ds. Marvel Nemesis and NFS MW should've clearly given it to EA.
Good show guys. I'm totally hooked on Castlevania right now so I'm gonna be biast and say it should have definitely made best graphics. I still get teary eyed looking at those beautiful sprite animations. I've yet to get Jungle beat but I still really want to. I remember coming back to that game the most at E3 2004. Anyway, can't wait to see what you guys are planning for '06.
oh, and Happy New Year!.....s Eve!
EA was definitely on the table for for that award...  but look at Ubisoft.  Stan didn't even mention Splinter Cell DS.
More like Jungle Beat for every award. Cept for best developer which obviously goes to EAD Tokyo.
Yeah, Rayman DS was ass too.  Many of the otehr games mentioned were proposed--I would have liked to see DK King of Swing win something too, but Minish Cap was amazing.  Same with JSS for best Import--I'm not crazy about that Band Bros. expansion.
I disagree on that the Biggest disspointment is the weak Rev specs because reggie says specs dont mater, it what you do with it that counts and their fake intil nintendo says other wise. and some dev said they just got a lot stronger dev kit not too long ago.
"Lunar: Dragon Song" was made by GameArts, not UbiSoft. UbiSoft signed up to publish it before development on the game even started. The fact that GameArts fell short, and Lunar DS wasn't as good as Lunar 1&2, was probably just as much of a dissapointment to UbiSoft as it was to everyone else.
Sprung also sucked, but I think the fact that UbiSoft is taking chances on oddball games that nobody in America would touch with a ten-foot-pole, which happen to be the entirety of the DS's intended lineup, makes UbiSoft extremely valuable as a DS publisher.
Sprung DID rock.  Although it really shouldn't matter, since it was released last year.
Also, Battles of Prince of Persia getting dissed?  Ridiculous.  EA clearly deserves the award
Hahahaha!  This is awesome.  I don't know what the vote totals came out to be, but I can promise you that both EA and Ubisoft were both much maligned.  But, there could be only one.
UBI or EA is kind of a tough call.  Splinter Cell, as bad as it was at least had SOME resemblance to the series, Burnout Legends on the other hand was yikes.  Then again you can say blasphemy to Kong DS too.  Ubi's best game was arguably Star Wars Ep. III which for what it was, was pretty good.  EA's was probably FIFA 06.  I dunno, I'm callin stalemate on that, they both need their dev kits revoked.
As for the revolution, I'm just gonna wait and see what comes of it.  I'm not gonna say anything about it, I'm not gonna speculate.  There's a lot more I'd like to know about before I give my judgements on it.  For the meantime, I'm gonna figure out how to fit 5 new DS games into my budget within the next 2 months.
I agree with UbiSoft being a big lump of dry dog crap on DS. I mean yeah, EA's all like "haha here's our new game for DS it took thirty cents to develop over a lunch break" but UbiSoft somehow managed to break Rayman 2, an N64 game in every possible way when porting it to DS. That would have taken pure dedication.
Naw, I think EA got 'em.....Prince of Persia Battles is actually pretty good....it's just that when you think POP, you don't think turn based stategy.
Sprung was released last year, so it wasn't really a factor.
As for Lunar, Ubisoft does indeed hold some of the blame in its mediocrity.  All publishers have some control of their games' quality; if you don't believe me, read some of the stories of developers complaining that their games could have been great if only the publisher hadn't rushed the development cycle, or look at how many developers have praised Nintendo for its involvement in the games it publishes from other studios.  The publisher's influence can even come down to how much funding it offers for the game's development, which translates into buying better tools and hiring better people to create the game.
Ubisoft had every opportunity to positively influence the development of Lunar: Dragon Song, and in fact, they even could have made a few simple tweaks to the Japanese version that would have helped the international version be a smoother experience.  Instead, they translated the text as quickly as possible and just shoved the game out the door.
Note that EA outsources development of many of its portable games as well.
Pretty much the expected results for the Game of the Year awards.  There really was no other competitors for the Cube and GBA.  The DS award could have gone to Castlevania but I'm not suprised Mario Kart won.  I don't know why but that just seems more like the game PGC would pick.
I would say however that the biggest disappointment was Zelda's delay.  That just took the wind out of my sails.  That was supposed to be THE game for 2005.  The Cube was going to have a pretty weak lineup in 2005 but Zelda was going to make up for that.  But we didn't get Zelda so there wasn't anything to look forward to to justify the weak year.  I didn't get any Cube games for Christmas this year and DDR is literally the only Cube title I bought all year (not a Resident Evil fan, if I was I would have bought two games).  Now with Zelda I would have only bought one more game for the year but having that big game at the end of the year really makes up for everything.  I've found that a poor year can be salvaged by having one absolutely amazing game to play at Christmas while an otherwise good year can seem disappointing without one.  For me 2005 was just overall a lousy year for me as a gamer and that's largely due to Zelda's delay.
The Rev specs thing is more of a non-event anyway since what is disappointing is something that never happened instead of something that did.  And any negative effects it might have will affect next year.  2005 really is no worse off by any Rev specs.  2005 however was worse off because of Zelda's delay.
Not even Fire Emblem?
EDIT: And did you at least rent RE4? Because, as KDR said, it's quite different than the other ones..
Shame on you. Even if you hate fixed-camera survival horror, Resident Evil 4 is not one of those. RE4 has plenty ammo, plenty enemies and less attempts to scare the user. Hail to the King, baby!
"And did you at least rent RE4? Because, as KDR said, it's quite different than the other ones."
Rent a Gamecube game?  What sort of magic fantasy land do you live in?
I might get RE4 if I find it for cheap.  With Cube games these days prices tend to fall pretty fast so I've somewhat conditioned myself to wait when it comes to games I'm not really anxious to get.  For example at a local store I could get Metroid Prime 2 used for only 10 bucks.  Now I already have that game but still.
Fire Emblem actually was on my Christmas list and I just didn't end up getting it.  Still usually I buy around five Cube games a year and there's a bunch of titles I want but never get around to getting.  This year I only had like two games I wanted (and none of them I really felt I "needed", I got DDR ASAP because of its rarity) and one game I figured I might try at some point.  That still makes for an underwhelming year.
Jesus Christ, Rev specs aren't final AT ALL.  I'd figure PGC would be the first people to say that but apparently not.  The only thing anyone has to go on is a contradictory IGN article that they wrote for the sole purpose of having something new on their new Revolution channel (just look at the place, they're fishing for "news" wherever they can).
Yes, they are not final.  But they are not magically going to add another CPU core, etc.
