General Gaming / RE:Ngage
« on: February 09, 2004, 07:02:12 PM »
"See, the thing with N-Gage is... Well, there's pretty much nothing in development for it. I think Sega have finally found out it's not worth the time and effort, and pretty much every other game avaliable for it at the moment has been on another system in a better form for ages. Tomb Raider, Tony Hawk, Sonic N, Puzzle Bobble, where's the fresh new innovative games? "

You have no clue what you are talking about do you? How can you say Sega is giving up on N-Gage when Sega has released some of their most popular franchises on the game deck? Ashen, Operation Shadow and Pathway to Glory are all fresh new innovative games so you cannot use that as an arguement anymore. In addition, Nokia is unveiling many first party titles at E3 along with an updated handset. I will agree that the current N-Gage has some flaws and those will be addressed at E3. N-Gage is struggling, however the handheld will not be canned and if anything third party support will continue to improve.

Bill,

If you hate N-Gage then that is your right as a gamer. I happen to dislike the GBA SP as I feel the unit is too "Square" and gamers with bigger hands will find it uncomfortable to use. I also happen to think that the buttons are too cramped and that the display is very poor as well. It is my right as a gamer to dislike the GBA SP just as much as it is your right to dislike the N-Gage.

I hope this device is better then the GBA SP. The GBA SP is too "square" and for individuals with larger hands it can be qutie uncomfortable to use. I would love to own a "Dual Screen" device. According to CNN this device is shipping in the second half of this year; more then likely Q4 2004. I am buying the Nintendo DS at launch.

Well Bill saying the N-Gage sucks is your opinion, and your opinion does not mean a damn thing to me. Fanboys are so closed minded that it makes me sick, and that goes for all fanboys not just Nintendo fanboys. Its time that fanboys grow up and stop being babies. Oh and another thing, just because you do not like the N-Gage does not mean that the product is garbage.

First of all, let me say that the N-Gage is not even targeting the same audience as the GBA SP. The N-Gage will debut on October 7, and no doubt the older crowd will imbrace it more so then the younger crowd will. Nokia is very serious about entering the console market and Nokia is going to be in the console market for the long haul. All of you Nintendo fanboys need to get a clue. I own a GBA SP and I think it sucks; most of the games are SNES ports and are targeted toward children. Nokia makes some of the best phones in the business, and they would not be in business long if they made cheap products. The N-Gage is a great idea and I am looking foward to geting one. The price at launch will be $300 here in the US, however you get what you pay for. The fact is this the GBA SP is a toy for children. N-Gage will be the future of mobile gaming.

Someone here should conduct a tortore test with all three console: GameCube, PS2 and Xbox and see which console can take the most abuse and keep on ticking. And in the end, I am sure GameCube would come out on top.

Sony's numbers being as high as they are more then likely due to almost everyone having to buy two PS2 consoles due to the fact that Sony makes cheap hardware, and if that continues then the PSP will likely posses cheap hardware as well.

According to Sony the PSP will be coined " The 21 century walkman." I can see it now we will have to clip the console to our waist, and due to the extreme weight of the PSP we will be be leaning to one side, as well as having severe back pain. Heck you will more then likely have to buy two PSP's to help balance the weight and keep your body level.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why is GCN considered to be a failure?

Oh and another thing, Nintendo has been making money on the GameCube since day one and come to think of it Nintendo has always made money off of their consoles plan and simple. How do you like them apples? :-P

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why is GCN considered to be a failure?
« on: August 13, 2003, 02:31:37 PM »
I would not say that GameCube is a failure, however when the console is almost two years old and has sold under 10 million units worldwide I think a better term to use would be disapointing. Nintendo claimed that GameCube would be the anti N64, and in ways that statement holds true. For example, the N64 had a little under 300 games in its whole life span, where as the GameCube is not quite 2 years old yet and it has 350+ games in its library. It seemed that when the GameCube launched the idea of a console which looked like a purple lunch box did not sit well with the causual gamer. In addition, many people thought that the GameCube would be a failure since day one and as a result, many stores did not even bother to stock the console. In the end, the only company that is beating Nintendo is Nintendo.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:should i get a cube
« on: August 03, 2003, 11:16:45 AM »
In short, yes you should buy a GameCube. In my opinion, I feel that GameCube is the best console of the three. I bought an Xbox back in January and needless to say I hate the console with a passion, and I am looking to sell it on ebay.  The GameCube is a great system with a lot of solid games, and by the middle of 2004 the Gamecube will have well over 400 games for it, and Nintendo makes the best games plain and simple. I currently own two GameCubes (Platium and Indigo) and I am very happy with both. If you want a great console along with great games then Nintendo GameCube's value can not be beat.

General Gaming / RE:Official Nokia N-Gage Discussion
« on: July 29, 2003, 09:08:51 AM »
I read an N-Gage preview on the Planet GameCube site and I must say that I learned a lot more about the console and what it is going to bring to the table. First of all, everyone seems to look at the screen shots of the various games and then decide that the N-Gage will be total trash. I am willing to bet that the screen shots that everyone are looking at are more then likely games runing in emulation mode rather then finished projects. Playing a game on the N-Gage can be rather cumbersome as you need to remove the back plate and the battery to insert the game, and this will turn off a lot of people. Battery life is said to be a major issue and the N-Gage will power off to conserve battery life when it is not in use. Nokia would be wise to produce another battery that would yeild better battery life while playing games. The MMC cards must be bought from Nokia and this will allow the costs to remain low and this should attract developers and publishers. Nokia has a few months yet to work out any bugs in their N-Gage game deck and it will be interesting to see how this unit sells at launch.

I agree that the N-Gages battery life will be an issue, and it will be more of an issue for game play (3-6 hours of battery life depending on the game). I feel that bluetooth is a nice feature for wireless multiplayer gaming, and the N-Gage game deck also supports online gaming as well. I also agree with both of you that a lot of the screen shots of the games do look fuzzy and washed out, however judging by the media that Nokia used for the games the MMC cards are suppose to bring richer colors and crisp graphics.

General Gaming / Official Nokia N-Gage Discussion
« on: July 26, 2003, 06:53:36 PM »
The Nokia N-Gage is going to launch in October, and I was wandering if anyone is going to buy the system on launch day? I have been reading a lot about the N-Gage and I must say that the system does have its strong points. For example, the N-Gage doubles as a triband phone, as well as an FM radio. The N-Gage is also a digital music recorder/player which has support for MP3 and ACC files. The sytstem also seems to have some nice launch titles such as Lara Croft: Tomb Rader, Red Faction, and Ubi soft will be bringing Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon to the system as well. The N-Gage will ship with a bevy of features, and some nice launch titles which may make it a nice second option for anyone who wants something different in a handheld.

Nintendo Gaming / Only 17% love developing for GCN?
« on: July 09, 2003, 07:17:49 AM »
Well SuperLink666 Xbox and PS2 fanboys believe whatever Sony or Microsoft tell them to believe, and thus they have no minds of their own. Sony fanboys always brag that their console has the most games, however most of those games are third party trash. Keep in mind, more does not mean better. Sony and Microsoft fanboys have been brainwashed into believing that Nintendo is a kiddy console, therefore they won't touch it with a ten foot pole. Nintendo GameCube is a great system, however developers will not develop for GameCube becuase no one buys their games, and it is hard to buy their games then most people would rather buy PS2 or Xbox.

Nintendo Gaming / Only 17% love developing for GCN?
« on: July 09, 2003, 07:04:35 AM »
The PS2 is  very difficult to develop for, while developing for the GameCube is not nearly as cumbersome, and most developers would rather develop for the PS2 then the GameCube. To be honest, it all comes down to which console is making developers the most money, and that console is the PS2. If GameCube was selling as well as the PS2 then developers would love the GameCube, so the fact of the matter is that developers do not like developing for who's second or third best. In my opinion, Nintendo did a lot of things right with the GameCube hardware, however at this point it comes down to the consoles image, as well as the consoles sales, and neither of those are worth braging about.

Nintendo Gaming / New article on Nintendo´s future! Must-read!!!
« on: July 04, 2003, 02:57:55 PM »
This article is more then old news, it is annoying and repetitive. Nintendo understands what Nintendo needs to do to better themselves, and they are taking those steps already. First of all, let me start out by saying that online gaming for consoles has not caught on at all; Microsoft has already lost a ton of money on Xbox live, and then editors poke fun at Nintendo for not entering the online market when that market is not even a profitable one right now to begin with. Second, Nintendo has made partnerships with many 3rd parties, and those partnerships will help Nintendo in the next generation. To sum things up, the article does have some valid points, however it is nothing to we have not heard before.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: hey guys, help!!!!
« on: July 04, 2003, 02:40:00 PM »
I have heard horror stories about colorconsoles.com. If I remember correctly one of the PlanetGameCube staff members had an experience with that company which mimics the experience that you claim you are having. If I were you I would check out the review and follow the same steps that the author did to reclaim his GameCube. I am sorry to hear that you have not recieved your GameCube yet, and I know that must be tough to deal with. If I were you I would have gone to gameconsoleskins.com and bought a consoleskin for your GameCube hardware. The consoleskins range from around $7-$10 dollars and they can be applied and removed with little effort, and they do not mark up your console. I hope the information that I have provided here helps you. I wish you luck in geting back your console.

Nintendo Gaming / Question about Nintendo and MS
« on: June 27, 2003, 09:43:49 AM »
Nintendo is never going to buddy up with Microsoft. First of all, I could understand Nintendo forming a union with Microsoft only if Nintendo was in trouble and if they were losing money on GameCube. The bottom line is that Nintendo has always made money off of their consoles, and it seems pretty cut and dry to me that Microsoft is losing more money on the Xbox then they thought possible. Microsoft needs Nintendo more then Nintendo needs Microsoft. I feel that Microsoft should just leave the gaming industry and stick to what they are good at.

Nintendo Gaming / Younger gamers and the gaming industry
« on: June 18, 2003, 06:13:43 PM »
Hey everyone. I read all of your posts and enjoyed reading what you had to say. Keep in mind, I said most younger gamers do not appreciate the gaming industry, I did not say all. I am sure a lot of the readers who posted under my thread are around around my age (22+) and grew up around the NES and Super NES, and have seen all of the changes that have happened in the gaming industry. It seems to me that a lot of younger gamers are just mislead, and they would buy a PS2 or an Xbox over a GameCube just becuase their friends have Xbox or PS2. Another thing I want to clear is up although younger gamers do not know everything about the gaming world, the same holds true for us older gamers as well. The main difference between the older gamers and the younger gamers is that the older gamers have been around longer, thus we can better appreciate the consoles as well as the software. People need to stop buying consoles becuase they look "cool" or because their friends have that console, and they need to form their own indentity in the gaming world. I am not trying to attack all younger gamers, I am just simply saying that most younger gamers are mislead about the industry, and therefore they have no real clear cut reason for the purchases they make and that is just sad. It looks like it is up to the older gamers to show the younger gamers the way in the gaming world.

Nintendo Gaming / Younger gamers and the gaming industry
« on: June 18, 2003, 12:00:18 PM »
I strongly feel that most younger gamers have no appreciation for this industry at all. They think they know it all, and they base a game on its graphics instead of its content. Anyone who has grown up with the Nintendo and Super Nintendo consoles should know what I am talking about when I say that most younger gamers do not posses half a brain when it comes to buying consoles or software. For example, they would buy a PS2 over a GameCube because the GameCube would be purple opposed to the PS2 being black, and while this sounds silly it is usually the truth. They altogether lack the knowledge when it comes to a purchase, and they usually buy what their friends buy so they can be "cool". I am glad to see that there are a great number of older gamers in gaming community who can better appreciate console gaming more so then the younger gamers. Older gamers have around longer and we know to that a game is not based on its graphics, but its content. In my opinion, if there were no older gamers then the gaming industry would be in real trouble because most younger gamers just do not appreciate games and consoles the same way as older gamers do. Older gamers made the gaming world what it is today, and now we need to deal with these younger gamers who think they know it all. Does anyone else feel the way I do ?

This is a rumor and should be thought of as a rumor until it is proven otherwise, therefore I see no reason to make a big deal about something such as this. I highly doubt that Nintendo would ever align itself with Microsoft unless the company had a really good reason for doing it.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube Gameboy Player
« on: June 15, 2003, 06:21:58 PM »
In my opinion, indigo and black would look so cool together, and if Nintendo did decide to release more colors in north america then you could always just trade it in for an indigo player. The point being if I were you I would just buy the black player and with the money saved for importing one you could buy a game with the difference.
