DSi Screen burn in?

Anyone heard anything about this at all?  Perhaps I'm over-reacting at this point...

I see a "level 9_" somewhere at the top of that pic, or something like that, along with letters preceding it.  Looks like it's not just your eyes.

I don't see anything.

There's some dark text starting at the O in "Uncle Bob" and ending at about "05/12".  There also looks to be a dark line spanning the entire screen that starts about 15 pixels below the text at the top.

Any idea what game this would have been from?

Oh, it's from Picross 3D.  It reads "Level 9_C" and has the full pause screen on - on both screens.

It's *mostly* gone away now (perhaps will go away more when I play it some more)...

Did you leave your system on pause for an extended period of time without closing the lid?  Or do you just suck at Picross 3D?

Left it on.  The battery was dying, so I plugged it in to charge for a few (just long enough to finish the puzzle I was on) - then promptly forgot about it.

If you want my advice you should have closed the lid.   :-\

Well, yeah!

But I was expecting to come back to it shortly.  And I *wasn't* expecting burn in.  I didn't even know LCDs could do that any more.  Lord knows my cell phone has never had that problem.

Do you have a game or a video that you can play on the DSi that cycles through lots of colors quickly over the full screen?

or does that only work for stuck pixels?

I doubt this is actual traditional burn-in because it's an LCD.  It could be heat related. Was your house or room where it was plugged in extra hot? Have you let the system totally cool down since then and were the markings still there?

I had a similar freak out for my iMac screen a few months ago and realized it was just heat because i had it stuff back in a cubby too much.  Letting the system totally cool down before turning it back on solved the problem.

I thought burn in couldn't happen with an
LCD . Where I work we have cell phones that
log time and they 99% of the time have one
screen with the same borders and labels on
and they have an after  image . But they are always
on and after a year u get this image when on
different screen. But that's not what he's saying.

Technically LCD screens can't "burn in", but they can suffer a similar effect where the liquid crystals can get used to the state of twist they are in and cause a static image. Most of the time the damage can be undone by leaving the TV off for about a day. It's explained here: http://www.techlore.com/article/10099/Do-LCD-TVs-Burn-In-/
