Capcom wasn't done announcing collections for Switch after this week's Mega Man announcements.

At the Capcom Cup fighting game tournament this weekend, Capcom have announced the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection for Switch and other platforms. Releasing in May of next year, the collection will include the following 12 games:

  • Street Fighter (1987)
  • Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Championship Edition, Turbo, Super and Super Turbo (1991 - 1994)
  • Street Fighter Alpha 1, 2, and 3 (1995 - 1999)
  • Street Fighter 3: New Generation, Double Impact, 3rd Strike (1997 - 2000)

Digital Eclipse, who assisted Capcom with the original Mega Man Legacy Collection, will return as developers for the 30th Anniversary Collection. Online play will be available for original Street FIghter II, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

As was pointed out on Twitter, this is the first time Street Fighter Alpha (the original game) and ANY version of Street Fighter III have been on a Nintendo console. Also, it's the first time we get a version of Alpha 2 that will NOT have load times in between "FIGHT!" and the match starting.

Damn that is one good deal.  Having every version of Alpha and 3 alone makes the $40 price tag a steal to me.

I'm not good at these games, but I might pick it up just to have it. Yay, Third Strike!

I'll be keeping an eye on this.  Street Fighter Alpha 3 was my jam back in middle/high school.  Third Strike was it during college, even if I was pretty bad at it.

This release makes The Final Challengers seem like even more weak tea than it originally was.

I hope there isn't much discrepancy in quality between the Switch release and the other console versions.  I also wonder what the online community count will be for a switch version.

Finally, if these are "arcade perfect" versions of these games, does that mean they won't have all the added console modes like world tour in Street Fighter Alpha 3?

Why we need cross-play. Do it Capcom...

I like but am awful at fighting games. I may buy this out of principle. It’s a damn fine collection.
