Bought F1 2001, i'm a big F1 fan, good graphics, slow down, loading times=sold, star wars:the clone wars, big star wars fan, fogging, jerky graphics when the action gets too hot and LOADING SCREENS=sold, nearly bought crash bandicoot, tried it before i nearly bought it, count em 4 loading screens before i got to play the thing=didn't bother. Please, please, please Nintendo ban these unworthy conversions or pay your own staff to update, improve and show the lesser consoles and programmers how things should be done. If anyone feels the same then please vent your spleen here.

Eh.  Would you rather be back in N64 land - with hardly ANY ports?  Personally, I don't care how some game compares to a version on another system that I'll never play.

Lets see no ports or crappy ports? I'll take no ports, whats the point of getting a port of a game if its sucks? Think about what you just said. If the port isn't going to be worth playing all its gonna do is further degrade the GC's reputation. Uninformed gamers will think that the GC's too weak to handle the game not that the developer half assed the conversion.

Exactly Darc. I especially feel this way with Splinter Cell. Ubi Soft said a lot of things about performance tweaks and how the game would essentially be identical to the X-box version in level and such. That got a lot of Cube owners excited. Instead they gave us a PS2 port that some are aruging is worst than the PS2 version of the game, depending on their point of view. Granted, it is playable, but I think it could've been done better.

The 3rd parties have to understand that not all Cube owners are dumb. With the quailty that has come from 1st and 2nd parties and a few talented 3rd parties like Factor 5, we know the Cube is quite capable.

And since I also have a PS2 and X-box, I would rather buy the better performing original than a port that may actually fall way short of the original game. That reinforces the poor claims that people make about Nintendo's image or receptivness towards 3rd parties. We cry that we are not getting 3rd party games. The cycle begins anew. It's like an abusive relationship, and in the end the Cube fans are the ones getting slapped with the backhand.

can you really blame them? lok at the history and track record of third party game sales from the cube. I would rush things out to, because regardless of how good the game is many Nintendo supporters wont buy it anyways.

RE is a perfect example.

Actually I think it's the other way around.  The Cube's history of crappy ports is the reason that third party games don't sell well.  First of all since there are so many crappy ports it makes Cube owners wary about buying anything third party.  Second crappy ports have given the Gamecube this image of being the inferior of the three consoles which has resulted in a domino effect.  Casual gamers see the Cube as inferior, don't buy it, the userbase is smaller as a result, and third party games don't sell as well because of the lower userbase.

Third parties have been releasing crappy Cube ports since the system launched, before there was any history of third party games selling poorly on the Gamecube.  The sh!tty ports are why third party games sell poorly though revisionist history has changed that to be the other way around.

checks RE sales

Both RE are in the top 20 GC sales. RE is in the top 10. A lot of third parties would kill for those types of numbers on any console.

Yeah RE is a perfect example. I mean its one of the best selling third party titles on Gamecube. Excellent point instead giving us a shoddy rushed conversion they built the game from the ground up and also gave RE good ad campaign. RE has sold over 1.1 million copies worldwide and had sold well in Japan, the US, and PAL territories. RE0 a well made port of what was originally an N64 game and it has followed suit. Its sold near 300,000 copies in the states, about the same in Japan, and I'm unsure of Euro sales but I'm sure they good as well.  Its the perfect example of how make and market a third party game on cube. BTW Next time you cite an example use a game thats actually sold poorly like Knockout Kings 2003, or NFL2K3. Of course Knockout Kings 2003 had absolutely no ad campaign and NFL2K3 looked terrible I actually bought it and returned it for Madden 2003 and I'm NFL2K fan.

I can't really argue with you, as that was just my opinion, but I really don't care all that much about the 'Cube's reputation.  I don't work for Nintendo.  Besides, most of the games that have had bad ports are games I wouldn't want to play anyway (except maybe Medal of Honor and Jedi Knight)

jedi knight was great regardless of the pathetic port we got. you have to remember that this one was originally a computer game.

I believe that we do deserve something better, almost all 3rd party game are games i dont even glance at for a second anymore, becuase i can almost certainly guess that they were ported over in 2 or 3 minutes.  A few exceptions, Capcom, Square-Enix, now Konami if they do what they say, Factor 5.  It really is sad.  But i am not to upset, as most of the games arent that good in their original format anyway.

Nintendo's solution- make their new system irrefutable, make it so impressive that people will have to pull there pants back up.  Nintendo is seemingly holding something back money wise, but i think they have a strategy, which seems will be associated to the next-gen system.  Just a very vewry strong feeling i have.  i know nintendo is working hard now, but it still seems like there is a suprise yet to be seen.

A lot of the third party games aren't worth my time.  I will probably still buy Splinter Cell for GameCube at some port, as I don't want the PC port, but I am very unhappy about it.

I really liked The Clone Wars though.  The slowdown wasn't that bad at all for me.  The game was just fun to play, and the atmosphere was really good.  It wasn't nearly as polished as Rogue Leader, and it was short and too easy, but I felt it was definately worth my time playing it.  That's more than I can say about a lot of today's games.
