Title: Amazing Deals!
Post by: Uncle Bob on May 31, 2007, 01:39:43 PM
DeepDiscount.com is having their amazing 20% off sale.  There are various coupons floating around, but I used DVDTALK.  It gets you 20% (I think) every single DVD and DVD set they sell.

What should you buy, you ask?

The First thing you should grab is Captain N: The Game Master.  Complete Series is $16.87 after discount.

Next up, go for The Legend of Zelda.  Complete series is $14.46 after discount.

Don't forget The Super Mario Bros. Super Show Volume 1 and Volume 2. $28.92 for the pair (after discount, of course!)

And, finally, for the best in home Nintendo entertainment, grab your copy of Super Mario Bros. The Move.  This ain't no game, but it is only $5.12 after the discount.

Additionally, I ordered the complete first and second seasons of House MD.  They go for around $40 each at Wal*Mart, and together they were $43.91 after discount (although I think these might be a newer combo pack or something...).

So... whoo!

I can't wait to get them all.  Additionally, I got American Dad season one at FYE for $10 (after $10 MIR).  Not a huge fan of the series, but for $10, I'll bite.  Then, last week, I finally got a good deal on Simpsons season 9 (Target for $20) and Family Guy Volume 4 (Frys.com for $20-ish).

I got some DVD watchin' to do.

Went through and made a second order, mostly for my wife, today...

Complete Friends.  God I hate this show, and now I'm going to have every single episode of it in my house.  Kill me. $131.90 After discount.

Complete Fawlty Towers.  An amusing show, although nothing to get too excited over.  $33.44 after discount.

And one last thing for me (I can't believe I forgot this one!) The Wizard.  Oh yeah.  $7.59 after discount.
Title: Amazing Deals - General Chat Edition!
Post by: UncleBob on June 15, 2007, 01:02:03 PM
Wow.

My mother discovered these and I have to say, it's pretty darn cool.

Jelly Belly - the makers of the best darn jelly beans in the world - like the rest of us, isn't perfect.

Sometimes, their jelly beans have twins. Or triplets. Or some are too small or too large. Or slightly off color. Or way off color.

Instead of pitching them, they throw 'em all together in a giant vat, bag them in 2 lb bags and sell them as "Belly Flops".

They're just as good as regular Jelly Belly beans.

You can get random bags from the Jelly Belly Outlet store (official source)
http://www.jellybellyoutlet.com/

$8/bag, "FREEFLOP" coupon codes gives you buy three get one free.
Shipping for one bag (for me, at least) was about $6. Four bags is about $8.
The down side of ordering here is apparently, if you order more than one at a time, the bags will tend to have the same "mix" in them (whatever was being ran that day).

On the other hand, you can order from here:
http://www.jbflops.com

From the sounds of it, this is just someone who lives near the actual JB plant and buys them and resells them.
Bags are $8.50 and you can pick the random bag you get (see the site if that confuses you... ). Nice - since it allows you to get different assortments. Shipping from them is about $5 for every two bags you get.

Lemme tell you, these things are tasty. Well worth it. If I ever manage to get this 2 pound bag down, I'm totally ordering some of my own. Dang, they're good.

But both threads are titled as if they're both general, all-encompassing gaming-unrelated deal threads.

I got 24 Energiser batteries for $9.50 CDN last boxing day. Damn, that was a good deal.

No, they weren't expired

EDIT: Can we make this a junk food recommendation thread also?

For my first recommendation, I suggest the chocolate Curly Wurly. It's amazing - but sadly only available in the UK and Australia, I believe.

Yeah, Curly Wurly's would be my favourite chocolate bar.

I figured since we have 3 video game related "Amazing Deal" threads, we could use one that is not related to video games.

In here you can post deals on computer parts, services, food, random items found online.
I'll go ahead and start it off

Pizza Hut: Any Size Pizza - 3 topping or Specialty for $10.99 (https://quikorder.pizzahut.com/phorders2/login.php?extCpn=OS|1328EEF|OS&WT.mc_id=050122009EO11_10.99__Pricepoint)
You also get $5 off Fight Night Round 4 for Xbox360 & Free shipping with any online purchase

Circuit City.com (They are back... online atleast)
25 pack TDK DVD+R for $0.99 (http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=3969517&sku=T14-2512&SRCCODE=CCEM001C&cm_mmc=EML-_-Main-_-CCEM001-_-circuit1st)

Those are from 2 years ago with no additional input. I would have never found them with our search system with out alot on manual digging. Besides, you didn't even support your own thread, you just made a new one. :D lol
either way. This is the new thread for 2009 and maybe we can keep it going this time.

PROTIP:  Use Advanced Search and--if possible--narrow the search to just one board and select Search in topic subjects only.

You get much better results.

Amazon is running a promotion for its "Prime" accounts.

You can sign up for a trail Prime account by purchasing something and get free two day shipping or cheap as hell overnight shipping. What makes this great is that once you become a trail member, you get 3 months worth of free two day shipping.

They will automatically charge your card for the membership after the 3 months is up, but you can turn that off within your account.

So basically, you sign up by purchasing something, you then get free two day shipping, then you can immediately go to your account and turn the automatic billing off. Then, you can purchase anything within the next three months and have free two day shipping on it. Best of all, you don't have to worry about becoming a member because you turned that bitch off.

I might just have to check this out! Winters in my apartment sucks because i don't always get heat, and although i do have a fleece blanket that keeps me warmer than my thick comforter, it's away too small. I've always been curious to try one of these things and see how comfortable they'd be to sleep in, guess now is my chance!

I've heard that the TVs you see at Wal-Mart aren't manufactured in the same plant as those at other retail locations.  Even if it has the same model number it's not the exact same TV--and presumably inferior quality.  Just something to keep in mind.

$100 for a 360?  Not bad.  Shame a hard drive will cost you all of your gift card.  ;D

You heard that right.

- Print this (http://"http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/disneymagicalsavings/?cmp=dmov_dvd_dmsave_url_patfcoupon") (top left, $10 off PATF USA) coupon and this  (http://"http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?bt=vg&tqnm=zcosfug80357553&o=62439&c=DS&p=EQZN7ioI")coupon.
- Go to Toys R Us.
- Grab a copy of PATF.
- Grab preorder cards for both Toy Stories.
- Checkout with coupons.
- It'll ring up $2+tax WITH A $10 PREORDER CREDIT TOWARDS TS1/2 because of a promo they have going.

Minus the two $10 upgrade coupons that are here (http://"http://disney.eprize.net/movierewards/index.tbapp?page=gwp/toystory1and2"). Use these 2 UPCs (TS1: 786936294507 TS2: 786936294521) on the site to get the coupons. They should ring up $4 for both.

None of those movies have Salma Hayek. I would gladly pay $10 for a high-def version of Ask the Dust.

Also, is it just me, or is it hilarious that whoever owns the rights to Spirits Within bothered to release a Blu-Ray version?

Amazon's Deal of the Day is Fraggle Rock: Complete Series Collection for $37.49.  That usually hovers in the $65-70 range, and the second lowest it's ever been was $59.49 back in April.  That's a great deal, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had kids to share it with.

Download MacX DVD Ripper Pro for Free Until November 1st
http://lifehacker.com/5675861/download-macx-dvd-ripper-pro-for-free-today-only

Quote
While we've featured some great programs in the past, like MacTheRipper, there are few free rippers out there that are as fully featured as other premium apps. MacX DVD Ripper Pro will not only rip a DVD into any video format you want, but it can also rip straight to iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, iPad, and PSP-friendly formats. This is particularly handy, since other popular programs required you to use other apps like our favorite encoder HandBrake to play it on other devices. Obviously, we still love Handbrake, but it's nice to avoid that second step and just rip straight to your iPhone.

The only downside is that it won't rip your DVD into an ISO or uncompressed VIDEO_TS files, so if you want menus and extras, you'll have to look elsewhere. You can rip it into a full-quality MPEG-4 file, however, so if your goal is only to rip the movie, it's a pretty great program for it.

The program is usually $50
Just hit the link to download the program, and copy and paste the license code BD-TGTXUVYO-OONQRP to activate the full version. Entering the key manually may not work, but it should take if you just copy and paste the key in.

I'm not sure what the advantage of that app is over HandBrake, which can also rip straight from a DVD into iOS-compatible formats. Still, free is free.

I had some trouble with ripping straight from a DVD with handbrake.  I had to use DVD rip first, otherwise, something would always go wrong.

I went to Chili's tonite and took an extra coupon. Gave it to a couple with 2 children who were about to pay for their meal and wished them a Merry Christmas then walked away and sat back down at my table and ordered my food. They sen ttheir children over to wish us all a Merry Christmas and thank us for the free food.

Couldn't help but think that I should have slipped them a business card in the process, but at the time, I didn't want to soil a good deed with self advertising.

After thinking it over, I should have printed a whole bunch of them and stapled my business card to them. Ain't no better advertising than Free Advertising that is also saving people money. They would remember that & I will remember that for next time too.

i just got the e-mail for the Spicy Chicken Biscuit. I can't believe there aren't any Chick-Fil-A stores in NY. They have to be the busiest fast food place that I've ever seen. The one they just built has to have a make-shift second drive through just about every day. They're also the friendliest people you'll ever find in a fast food place...and probably the best food you'll find too. Damn. I know we bicker a lot, but I feel for you, bro.

You know what is funny? Jack in the Box airs commercials here all the time, but they don't have any stores in New York either. Why would a fast food place advertise in a state where the residents would have to drive hundreds of miles to get to one?

Tourists - either ones going down to Jack in the Box areas, or ones visiting NYC from out of state? Just spitballin'.

Or it's because JntB bought a regional ad which covers an area predetermined by the cable company or network they placed it with instead of buying a bunch of local ads to only advertise those who live closer to JntB.

Besides, that person that lives no where near JntB will one day drive past one and will be compelled to stop due to the tons of mouth watering commercials they have seen over the years and the fact that they don't live anywhere near one.

I know this because they same thing happened here with Sonic's commercials.I'd have to drive about an hour to go find one, but the time I did pass one on the freeway, I made sure to stop and check it out.

Since it's all in the public domain (or presumed public domain), you can get these for free already (as the compiler did), so the only real benefit is possibly the formatting job and condensation to one volume.

If they're selling a coffee and doughnut once a day for a year for $20, that's not free.  It's approximately 5-6 cents for both each day.   ;)   Still a nice deal if you like that crap, though (I don't like all that glazed crap on my doughnuts).

Yes, actually (my favorite flavor being chocolate dip on a chocolate cake doughnut, which is becoming frustratingly difficult to find these days).  However, I can enjoy a good glazed doughnut occasionally as well.  Crispy Creme, though, seems to be one of those companies that likes baking the glaze inside the doughnut itself, which ruins the doughnut for me.

They just drop the dough into a fryer then it floats over to a conveyer belts at which point the glaze is automatically poured on top as it goes down.   There is a little  video of them going through the glazer (http://krispykreme.com/doughnuts).  Though if you don't get them hot and fresh they are only half as good.

Apparently Best Buy is paying everyone to go watch Xmen First Class by offering you $12 Movie Cash with the purchase of ANY of the Xmen movies on either Bluray or DVD

Blurays are $7.99 each (w/ $12 movie cash)
DVDs are $3.99 each (w/ $12 movie cash)

so if you think about it, BB is giving you $4 to take a Bluray off their hands and $8 to take a DVD if you agree to go see Xmen First Class.

Great deal if you already planned on watching it.
For $16 I can get me and 3 other people into Xmen First Class and have the whole series on DVD in return. Can't go wrong there.

Meh...Restaurant.com is a con.

Those gift certificates require a minimum purchase for them to qualify. They are basically coupons. The minimum depends on the restaurant. So if the minimum is $35, you can only use it on anything spent after $35 plus it adds 18% gratuity instantly. So if you went out for a meal, you'd get about 15 bucks for 2 dollars. Not bad, but not great. Especially when you consider that most of the restaurants they list are either shitty, closed or extremely expensive.

Walmart BF deals--$28 games for new Batman or Gears of War 3.  Might try buying them online because last year was a freaking nightmare--it wasn't because there were lots of gamers but because Walmart had everything covered up and in the wrong locations.  Basically they had black bags around everything so you literally had people jumping over each other at midnight.  Not sure what was the point of that other than the employees got to see a nice little riot.
Title: Re: Amazing Deals ~Non-Gaming Edition~
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on November 10, 2011, 10:09:46 AM
Its because they have a 10pm sale where certain items are on sale and then the midnight sale where everything else is on sale. Midnight sale items are usually what's covered.
Title: Re: Amazing Deals ~Non-Gaming Edition~
Post by: UncleBob on November 10, 2011, 10:40:35 AM
I heard a rumor that Walmart stores just found out two days ago what the current version of this year's Black Friday schedule was.

It's my understanding that stores were previously told that there was going to be the 10 PM event on Thursday night and the rest of the items were going on sale at 4 AM Friday Morning.  The 8 AM event was supposed to be on that Saturday.

It's my understanding that stores got an e-mail two days ago telling them that the 4 AM stuff was moved to midnight and the Saturday stuff got moved to Friday.  This, of course, was after stores already went crazy trying to figure out how to do their scheduling... then got to do it all over again.

If this is true, this was really stupid.

Alright thats a much better Black Friday.

$199.99 PS3 Combo... Hmmm... I would like to have a second Blu-Ray player for my other room.

I got the 40" Westinghouse for $298 last year...maybe I need to get in line again. They did go very quick, luckily my brother and I knew where they were and ran around some people to snatch the last 2 of them. I believe Best Buy is going to have a 24" TV for $78...might get one for my daughter's room.

I'm seriously debating the $199 42" 1080p Sharp

but TRU is having a sale on batteries.
Good time to stock up if you'll ever need them

B1G1 Free on Batteries (http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=toys%20r%20us%20ultra%20alkaline%20batteries&origkw=Toys+R+Us+Ultra+Alkaline+Batteries&f=Taxonomy/TRUS/2254197&sr=1)

2x20 pack of AA or AAA = $6.99 + Free instore pickup
2x6 pack of C or D = $6.99 + Free instore pickup

and that sux because I just bought batteries a few days ago.... half as many for $3 more.

Those are **** batteries though. There is a monumental difference between Duracell/Energizer and then store brand batteries. Black Friday is starting to piss me off, especially now with a few stores actually opening on Thanksgiving.

I found Duracell vs Energizer negligible when doing like like comparison but we are an energizer family because of the bunny.  My grandmother has a to scale one.

This almost deserves its own thread...

Best Buy has a pretty awesome Batman sale going on right now.

I picked up all five seasons of The Batman for $5 each.
Also picked up Year One and Superman/Batman Apocalypse for $5 each.

If I didn't already have them, they also had the first three sets of Batman: The Brave and the Bold for $5 each - and the 5th (last) set on sale for $15.  They didn't have the fourth set, so I dunno how much that was supposed to be.

Additionally, they had one random set (volume 3) of TAS for $15 and volume 1 and 3 of Batman Beyond for $10 each.

Long story short, I bought $123 worth of Batman for $35. :D

Best Buy $50 off $100 if you use a Mastercard (http://image.emailinfo2.bestbuy.com/lib/fef41d77766c04/m/43/13729-2_MasterCardPromo_Coupon_final.pdf). They amended this deal at the store I went to such that it was only good for a single $100+ item and only good for today, but YMMV.

I also had a $5 credit on my account from buying eShop cards last month, so I was able to get a 4TB external HD for $135+tax.

http://slickdeals.net/f/6347766-discover-price-protection (http://slickdeals.net/f/6347766-discover-price-protection)

Quote
Discover Price Protection
Discover card members benefited from price protection feature last year by purchasing the BF advertised items early and claimed through price protection.

People have confirmed by contacting Discover that the price protection applies to BF deals in this year as well.

Steps you need to follow:

1. Purchase the exact item advertised in BF deals (same model #) before BF (sale date).
2. Call Discover and ask for price protection claim. They'll send a form in snail mail. (yes, no online application).
3. Fill the form. You have to send a copy of your receipt, copy of the advertisement with lower price (at the same or different store) (You have to buy BEFORE the sale date, which is BF in this case). File the claim after the sale date. You can file up to 3 claims per claim form. $500 limit per item, $2500 per year.
4. Wait for the claim to be approved. Takes several weeks.
5. Enjoy your new item purchased at BF price without staying at lines.

Free music on Google Play.

Yesterday I posted the free Awesome Mix Vol. 1 from GotG on Google Play.

they also have free songs from 9 artist:
Drake, Lorde, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye, Jason Aldean, Nirvana.

and today they also have a free album from Ludacris if you pre-order:
https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Ludacris_Burning_Bridges_Google_Play_Exclusive?id=B23ilh34i56mup5lyhed6ydvily (https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Ludacris_Burning_Bridges_Google_Play_Exclusive?id=B23ilh34i56mup5lyhed6ydvily)

they also have a free album from Lourde as well:

supposedly if you visit the play story "Movies & TV" section from a Nexus, you may also be able to get Gravity for free as well.

*might be US only.

I don't know who here does their own taxes, but it is Tax season and Turbo Tax has free filings for first time users right now.

turbotax.com

I went to a Hewlittt Jackson preparer for my simple taxes.... just checking to see how much they charge. They wanted $260 to file my taxes !!! o_O
all because there was an additional 2 forms to fill out for Health Ins.

He waslked through a very similar program to Turbo Tax, and we spent maybe 5 minutes on the health questions that we clicked multiple choice options to. (he gave me a free prep just to see what I would get since he couldn't tell me exactly how much I would have to pay for fees).

Long story short, I went to turbo tax and got the exact same return in about the same amount of time he took to click through a very similar program that walked him through each thing that needed to be considered. I will never pay a tax preparer again if TurboTax is literally this easy to use.

I'm not sure I'd trust a tax program that got suspended for fraud in some states, but whatever floats your boat.

If you don't make a lot the IRS has offered a Free eFiling program since 2001 or so.  Its simpler for them.  HR  Block is one of the choices.  I've used both HR Block and the last few years I've done TurboTax.  It's really easy unless your Wife works in a complicated low wage job.  I might go back to HR Block though because Turbo Tax has gotten dumber over the years.

They suspended themselves because of people doing allegedly fraudulent returns, they were not suspended by a state, and it was for state returns. Good states don't have state taxes. And Florida.

Never paid to do my taxes with the exception of last year. I always do it through TurboTax. If you do a 1040 or 1040 EZ it is no charge for federal returns ever. Last year I got the upgrade because my wife worked a job where she was paid "commission" and we had to report it on a 1099. Upgrading cost $30 but because of that we got a $300 discount with some special small business tax breaks.

Though we ended up paying taxes for the first time in a good while because we made a lot more money than before. I even went to a tax professional that gave free advice because of the amount owed and his response was "welcome to the middle class". We made too much to get assistance/tax breaks and too little to pay it easily. Thankfully we had enough of an emergency fund in place to cover it but it was close. Be careful if you work 6 jobs between two people for a year and set some aside for extra taxes.

Last time I had a major bump in pay I was taking out the max in contributions and claiming 0 so the guv'ment would take the maximum as well. I did not want to be screwed come tax time, and I didn't need all the extra money on hand, I was used to getting by comfortably on much less.

Honestly, if I had realized TurboTax basically walks you through doing your taxes like a pop-up book, I would have been using that years ago. I know I won't be using a tax guy anymore. It was just too easy to do it myself to pay someone else to do it for me.

I almost had to pay 1 year because I filled out my W-4 as I was "supposed to" and it looked like I had 9 dependents.  I just filled it with 1 the next time and always get a refund.

Get a FREE Amazon Fire TV Stick or a Roku Stick if you buy 3 months of SlingTV
http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/12/8026927/free-amazon-fire-tv-roku-streaming-stick-sling-tv

alternatively, you could get $50 off either of the base models the sticks are based on instead with that purchase. I personally can vouch for a Roku 3. nice little piece of machinery there. Netflix and Plex Player interfaces are worth the purchase alone. The other 1000 apps/games you may find interest in are just icing on the cake.

If you're on the fence about getting a FireTV then it's probably a good deal but Sling TV doesn't have nearly enough content yet and has a lot of restrictions that make it...not good. I'm pretty sure they're doing 7-day free trials right now though.

Not sure it this counts but I just got a Surface Pro 2 for $219.00

And I also grabbed a Playstation Tv bundle for 49.99 (box, dual shock 3, 8gb men and lego movie game)

Pretty good deals, especially the PSTV. That's not a Surface Pro 2 though, it's a Surface 2 (which I never even knew they made). It's Windows RT and an NVidia proessor. You might want to cancel your order, it's not what you think it is.

HOLY HELL! Thats a freakin Surface 2 and not a pro. FUCKERY! I don't think or know if $219 for a Surface2 is even a good deal? Is it better than my Nexus 7 2013? Benchmarks, I need BENCHMARKS!

Its a Surface, there are no good endings regardless how powerful it physically is.

Post by: BranDonk Kong on February 14, 2015, 11:12:40 PM
It can only run "Metro" style "apps." Benchmarks matter not in this case. It does come with Microsoft Office though. Now, a Tegra 4 is a capable chipset: quad core 1.8Ghz, 2GB RAM, and a decent GPU - however, like I said, it can only, and will only run Windows RT apps because it's not an Intel-based processor, it's an ARM processor, like found in cell phones (I will be happy to write a "Hello World" program for you in Visual Studio, however). The Google ADT-1 (Android TV developer console) runs on a Tegra 4 SOC, and it kicks ass, but like I said...no support for "real" Windows due to the architecture.

The people who buy it are generally happy, but they know what they're getting into ahead of time. I was going to jump on the offer until I saw it was a Surface 2 and not a Surface Pro 2 (which go for around $600 base). Honestly the 32GB should have raised an eyebrow after the initial oversight.

It might be possible to somehow get Chromium OS or a version of Linux (I would imagine there's an ARM-based version of Ubuntu out there) installed on it.

Spoiler alert: you can't install anything over RT. I should have remembered that, since I did a 2,500 word report about UEFI, Secure Boot, etc., just last semester. I can share it if anyone is interested.

Thanks bro! When I read the spec sheet I saw 8.1 and thought it was regular 8.1 and not RT. Shambles! I never used a Surface. I thought it would be cool just for Office and the Web Browser and a few apps but a Quick sight check of the Microsoft store proves this thing is almost obsolete from an App standpoint. Thinking I might just cancel before it ships and avoid the 15% restocking fee.

It's going back, I just found it at Microcenter for 199.99 and I can check it out 1st and not pay for the restocking fee. I want a 10" Tablet and I'm a cheap bastard.

Anyone looking for a New TV?

A Vizio? Smart TV? 55"? 4k? under $600.00?
https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-vizio-55-4k-ultra-hd-smart-led-tv

I would totally be all over this TV if I hadn't just made a large purchase.
Here is the amazon page for comparison:

and I love the look of the remote. (check the 2nd review for pics)

That's a bit expensive considering these:

That last one looks like a beast.

1: That's a JVC brand TV, I don't know much about JVC LCD's, but in my mind, I figure I might as well by a RCA brand or something.
Oh, and it's only 48", has no wifi, and isn't even a smart TV.

2. besides not being available for purchase (from your link at that price), it's a refurbished product.
and the only places that do have it available are used for over $550/New $699

3. This is another out of stock product (in your link at that price), and even though it is curved, it is also only 48".
In stock used is way more expensive than the 55" Vizio, so you know the new one is much more than that ($900+).

so I think the 55" 4k Smart Vizio for $599 brand new w/ wifi and a full keyboard remote is a pretty good deal compared to what I've seen, and what you've just shown. And even though Vizio was considered a low tier brand originally, I think dollar for dollar, price to features, cost to value, it's one of the best TV's you can get. I own 3 of them. This would have been the 4th, if I had the money to upgrade at the moment.

Oh snap, I just followed deal news blog and posted. I've been checking out their site every other week or so because I'd like a 30-50" for my desk. I honestly wish I knew about that Samsung one early.

The Vizio isn't a bad deal surely. I guess what you can take from my post is that prices are coming down fast. Black Friday here we come!

Alright people, what are the amazing deals for Amazon Prime Days?

Error 404: Page not found.

Seriously, this year's Prime Day deals have been bad, at least when it comes to the things we would care about.

The best deals I saw were the Adam West Batman series on BluRay for $36 (which I did grab), and the Basil Rathbone 14 Sherlock movie collection on BluRay for $53 (which I already own).

I've been watching the video games all day today, and absolutely nothing of interest has crossed by yet.

Any of the game discounts highlighted are games that have already been at that price before or were at that price before Prime Day. It is just a marketing push and this shows it. Now that folks know about it they are pulling back the number of big deals because they know a lot of folks will still run in and spend.

That's probably been a long-term strategy for them.  They really don't need to sell products below cost anymore, unless they're aggressively pricing out competition (again).  I'll bet next year will be comparable to this year but will seem better as they take the foot off the gas a bit.
