I downloaded it, but seems like the file is corrupted or something because it doesn't play when I click it

Which version of Citizens of Earth is superior? I seem to recall hearing problems about one of the versions and can't remember which one. Have to make the choice between Wii U and 3DS

This looks amazing ! What's left for E3?

Exactly what I'm thinking! They really have such massive momentum with 3DS right now, I guess all the E3 announcements will be Wii U based.

« on: April 17, 2013, 07:14:07 AM »
Holy crap Minoru really loves Kid Icarus!

Anyway, here are my top 5:

1. Mario Kart 7 (41:02)
2. Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones (31:57)
3. Pilotwings Resort (20:15)
4. Super Mario 3D Land (20:01)
5. Paper Mario Sticker Star (16:28)

Online is the main reason MK7 is so high, and all the other games in the top 5 have been beaten

TalkBack / Re: Ubisoft Wii U Titles on Sale on Australian eShop
« on: March 31, 2013, 03:47:19 PM »
This sale is happening in Europe as well! Assasin's Creed III for 30 quid ain't a bad deal.

12
I hope they roll out the DLC in Europe as often as they have been in the US. I'm still totally stoked to play the game, shame that its taken so long to get here :(

Also I find it REALLY weird that they'd make Ephraim a Great Knight...it just doesn't make any real sense to me.

As cheap as Balloon fight is right now, I'm not paying for a game I will most likely not play and already own on 3DS anyway. Super Metroid however, I am super excited for. I've wanted to play it on my GamePad from day 1 and finally will be able to in May :D

Glad I got the chance to get this in the European sale, I already own the game on steam (got it for only a few quid a few sales ago) but my computer is really terrible and can't run it well at all. Playing it on Wii U is far more convenient anyway and I love how the touch controls work with the Wizard's magic!

Just got my Wii U today and looking to add people on Miiverse! My ID is Lordnbz.

TalkBack / Re: Paper Mario: Sticker Star Review
« on: November 23, 2012, 03:33:41 PM »
Great review Scott! I've read a few other opinions on this game, and the general consensus seems to be that such a reliance on "things" really does hinder the title quite a bit. I don't think that it will be enough to hurt the enjoyment of the game for me, but I'll certainly be keeping the internet handy to stop those frustrating moments when I pick this up on the European release. I've always been a fan of the Paper Mario aesthetic, and this game truly looks like its going to continue to uphold that visual fidelity. What did you think of the 3D effect? I've heard its pretty stellar.

TalkBack / Re: Why I Like (And Despise) the Wii Integration on Wii U
« on: November 20, 2012, 08:36:35 PM »
I really am dubious about transferring all my stuff over to Wii U at this point. I wish there was some sort of way to pick and choose what you want to transfer, because there is no way in hell that I am going to move my fully unlocked, completed Brawl save file over to a system where I can't use a Gamecube controller. I do not want to use a Classic Controller Pro to play Smash, it just doesn't work for me. I really, really hope that Nintendo brings out a Wii U pro controller in the style of the Gamecube pad so that we can not only use it on the potential GC VC games, but also for Brawl and the future Wii U SSB game. Sakurai has a lot of influence at Nintendo (even though he technically doesn't work for them anymore), I think he'd be on board for getting a GC style controller available for Smash U.

Very excited for this! Is started listening to the show about 2 months before the first live Telethon back in 2010, so this is something I always look forward to! Hopefully I'll be able to participate in some form during the call ins. Good luck guys, let's smash last year's total!

TalkBack / Re: Casual Encounter
« on: September 11, 2012, 11:45:17 AM »
Great article Scott! I really agree with you that casual Wii Sports audience are going to have a tough time being convinced of buying a Wii U, based solely on the draw of Nintendo Land. That game, though potentially very fun and interesting is almost the polar opposite of what Wii Sports represented. While Wii Sports was not only familiar and intuitive to the casual market, Nintendo Land is strange, complicated and not necessarily appealing. For this reason I doubt that there will be many day 1 adopters who aren't already planning on buying a system anyway. However, if Nintendo want to keep that market then they inevitably have to bring out a sequel at some point, which is well within the realms of possibility. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

TalkBack / Re: The High Barriers to Entry in Competitive Pokémon
« on: September 05, 2012, 09:06:11 PM »
As someone who has played in the Competitive scene for over 4 years now, I can completely understand how difficult it is to even begin the learn about the Metagame and understand all the intricacies, let alone put aside time to dedicate towards it. The way the majority of players get around this is by using what one calls "Legal Hacks." Essentially, these are computer generated Pokemon made within the legal bounds of the game, for example, a Pokemon cannot have over 510 total EVs or more than 31 IVs in a given stat. It is a measure that all the top players use, and I can say without any doubt that 90% of people who competed in the VGCs and did well used Legal Hacks. I know for a fact that the American dude who has won on multiple occasions will have used PokeSav to generate his whole team, but has made them in such a way that they can easily pass all the hack checks given by the VGC staff. He isn't necessarily cheating by doing this, because the Pokemon are all legal within the constraints of the game, he just simply saved himself a lot of time, and instead was able to use that time to gain valuable Metagame experience. The sad fact of the matter is that if you want to compete on the world stage, training isn't the way to go.

Excited to hear the Wario Land 4 discussion! It's the first time I have actually managed to beat a game for retroactive before the game gets discussed, so I guess it's a good job it got delayed xD

Retro will do good for sure. Problem is it will be too late by that point. Wii U will be a dying platform. I see the GC era happening all over again.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo 3DS Software Showcase E3 2012 Livestream
« on: June 06, 2012, 10:11:32 PM »
My disappointment for this E3 has gone through the roof. Nothing exciting or new at all, in a year where they HAD to bring their A game. I am very sorely disappointed and am sure that Nintendo will feel the heavy after effects of this. I'm sure share prices will plummet even more than they have done already.
