Of course it needs to be pointed out that those numbers for Twilight Princess are only for the Wii version.  When the Gamecube version is added, the actual sales for the game is around 4 million in North America.

Not horribly surprising, most probably had it anyway since the vast majority likely bought a Wii with it packed in. Besides Wii Sports Resort would likely be the purchase if you had to choose between the two.

The Nintendo Selects version of Wii Sports was released back in May, so it wasn't all that long ago. Has the Wii itself even sold a million systems since that time? New owners are the only ones who'd buy the stand-alone Wii Sports, everyone else has it.

Yeah there's no reason for anyone to even buy the original Wii Sports when Resort is the much better game and even includes Golf, Tennis and Bowling, which were the three most popular sports in the original Wii Sports anyway.

The only reason to buy the original Wii Sports is if people really want to play Baseball and Boxing, but I doubt there's that many people who would buy it just to play those.

Baseball is easily the game I got the most mileage out of in the original Wii Sports. That's why a friend of mine bought Wii Sports separately when he finally got around to buying a Wii a couple months ago.

I'm sad to see Deus Ex drop to #6, considering all the games above it.  I don't think Dead Island deserved to sell that well since I found the experience rather monotonous, but I'm not surprised to see it there either.  I am happy to see Resistance 3 at #7 (though, once again, it should have been higher), as that is a really good FPS (FAAAAAR better than the first two Resistance games).

And Space Marine at #10?  Really?  I just don't understand it being in the Top 10 games of the month after playing the demo.  At least probably most of these sports games will be off the Top 10 next month.

The Imperium of Man has a fair number of zealous followers. Also, I guess it was a guilty pleasure for some people. I was surprised to see Space Marine at the top 10 because I thought the worst for it.  I hope this guarantees a sequel so that Relic my make a significantly superior follow up.

With all due respect, you said pretty much the same thing about Borderlands and I love Borderlands. Your opinions are no less valid than mine, but clearly our taste in what makes a great game differs somewhat. So I respect your criticism even though I never played that game, but I'm not going to let it influence my purchasing decision one way or the other because like I said, I loved Borderlands.

You'd probably like Dead Island, actually.  It has many of the same strengths and flaws Borderlands does, being very much the same design.  It's a better game than Borderlands, however, and it certainly isn't a bad game like I think Borderlands is.  The game just gets so tedious and monotonous with your weapons breaking every 5 seconds as you fight off constantly-respawning waves of zombies who are scaled to always be around your level.  Leveling-up is thus rendered nearly pointless, getting from Point A to Point B can be a chore, and playing the game solo is frustrating since being mobbed by 2 or more enemies pretty much means certain death.

Dead Island isn't a bad game, but it is one that's so frustrating to play that I never want to play it.

Well, the problem I saw in the demo was that Relic seemed to focus on putting a lot of characters on-screen...and that's it.  In the demo, it was fun for 5 minutes to wade into a sea of Orks and massacre them with melee and deliver that one (and there only seems to be one) brutal chainsword finisher to regain my health.  And then I saw that the next 20 minutes was just more of that, making me ask aloud "Ok, Relic, you can put a lot of Orks on-screen to slaughter.  Do you have anything else?"  I can't speak for the retail game on that, but in the demo Relic certainly didn't (even after getting Jet Packs, which guarantees that Jonny's probably going to play that game for RFN at some point).

I don't know, that sort of mindless action seemed to serve Relic well with the first Dawn of War game (which is the only Warhammer 40K game I've played outside that demo).  I just don't think it was translated well into an action game there.

I had the same problems with the demo which is why I'm holding off on buying the game until it goes on sale or when the co-op feature is released. Even on Normal, I found it a bit too close for comfort to go all melee. I assume the game wants you to mix up your attack styles frequently. There are about 3 or so chainsword finishers (I started counting after while) which is much too low given how frequent you need to preform them. Funny thing about the lack of a cover mechanic: Relic scrapped the idea on the notion of Space Marines are too powerful to hide behind cover. That goes against the highly tactical nature of the Space Marines as depicted in Warhammer 40,000 books and the Dawn of War games where ordering Space Marines to take cover is paramount to survival.

Speaking of Dawn of War, I don't see how the first or Dawn of War 2 can be seen as having mindless action. Sure, they have their Attack+Move moments, but what little I've played of the games suggest there are strategies and tactics to consider.

Yeah, "mindless action" was probably not the right phrase for what I was trying to say.  I found the SP Campaign in the original Dawn of War rather lacking (outside of Scott McNeil doing a hilarious rendition of his Dinobot voice for one of the villains), but the strongest memory I have of that game was the ridiculously high bodycount you'd rack up, which would lead to battlefields where I would have literally probably a hundred dead bodies lying in front of my base from running into the spray of my turrets.  I also remember base building being very simplified.  In any case, I think Relic didn't do a really go job translating whatever appeal the RTS games had to 3rd person shooting.  That demo just came off as incredibly generic.

Command sucked and SF64 3DS is a Remake and super short. Low sales shouldn't be surprising. In fact, I'm annoyed enough to say the titles deserve it.

* First half net loss also likely larger than forecast -Nikkei

* Company projects full-year operating profit of 35 bln yen (Adds details,)

TOKYO, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Nintendo Co is expected to post a recurring loss of about 100 billion yen ($1.32 billion) in the first half ending on Sept. 30, much worse than the 55 billion loss the company has forecast, the Nikkei business daily said on Wednesday.

Shares of the Japanese games maker tumbled as much as 7.5 percent after the news, to 10,800 yen.

By loss, do they mean Nintendo made a negative profit or didn't make as much money as last year/half? I wish I remembered more of my economics class.
