The Conduit game night, April 17th - NWR vs WiiAreDeep.com
« on: April 02, 2010, 09:49:04 PM »
Hi all,

How'd you like to join in on a little friendly competition with another gaming website? We're organizing a game night for The Conduit, and our goal is to get a 12-player match going! Everyone is welcome to join. The setup will be team matches, with NWR members vs WiiAreDeep members. There are no set rules, so use this thread to discuss what kinds of weapons and stages you'd like to play with.

If WiiSpeak is to be used, please be respectful toward other players.

Well I know I am going to play. Which team though?
I will think of what weapons we are going to use and stages as well.

Stages if we do get 12 people playing would have to be the bigger stages or mid sized stages.

We already have 8 people signed up.

We don't have to use the same team setup for every match, we can switch things up a bit.

I think Shyguy is taking this to seriously.

Which team are you going to be on?

NWR I suppose? I barey have enough time to keep up with this forum, so unfortunately WAD is like my ignored red-headed stepchild.

Then again I'm up for fun, so it doesn't really matter what team i'm im on.

We need to decide on weapons we are going to use and what stages as well.
Maybe we can have the stages set to random and we start at the top of the weapons and after each round we go down to the next weapon set until the weapons have all been used.

What time on Saturday might be good for everyone?

As far as the ruleset, the problem with trying to use specific rules for each match is that people tend to forget them when it comes time to pick them. I think it would be easier to simply let everyone pick whatever they want, and ask people to not pick a weapon set or stage that we have already used.

Like I said, I'll be in a hockey tournament. We usually start drinking after the first game and don't stop drinking til we're out, or we win the championship and we drink more. Our first game is at 10am and we're pretty good, so you do the math.

So is this really happening at 2pm? I'm gonna shower then hop on AIM if anyone wants to pre-game chat. I dont know how many games i'll be able to play but I'll try to stick around for awhile.

I'll PM anyone in the thread who said they would be playing with my AIM username, though you might be able to find it in my profile

edit: Can't seem to open up AIM on my desktop. I can access it from my phone but it'd be annoying to do so. I think i can access it thru one of those many websites.. just dont know if i'd be able to add anyone and my privacy settings probably keep me from being messaged before adding anyone. I'll try to see what i can do.

That was fun. That last game was epic, even though my team didn't win i felt i made a pretty decent comeback from contstantly dying the first two minutes of the match. I was being a damn good sniper (if i toot my own horn for a second) taking shots at maxi in weird lil hiding spots) and getting some decent shotgun kills too. Unfortunately it wasnt enough. Next time though..

Maxi, thank you for hosting. Please invite me to the next game!

I am such a casual Wii player. I needed splash damage weapons just to score any points. I need a plastic shell that holds the Wiimote and nunchuk together so I have a more stable handle.

It was ok. How can anyone have fun getting their butt handed to them? I was trying but sometimes I couldn't believe how easily I went down while my shots seemed like they did nothing.

I think I need to spend more time either tweaking the controls or just getting used to them. Everyone was jumping and shooting at the same time and I was having difficulty just keeping a bead without jumping.

Kinda reminds me of getting used to Quake3 on the PC. I had trouble jumping and gunning at the same time with mouse and keyboard, then I slowly got used to it and I was able to hold my own against the harder bots.

check out one of Pro's post where he outlines his control settings. My game improved 100% with his set-up. I went into the game last night thinking i'd be rusty after not playing since the last NWR meet-up, and being a little more used to Modern Warfares controls, but nooope.

If you ever wanna meet-up (online) for some practice games, lemme know.

Well Bustin98 It does take some practice to get used to the controls.Did you beat the single player yet? I think I beat the single player before playing multiplayer. Also with I am pretty used to Wii FPS controls dispite not playing many of them. Red Steel,Metroid Prime 3, and The Conduit are the only Wii FPS games that I have. I also am pretty quick when using the Internet channel.

You often went out to engage the enemy without your teammates to back you up.

I've tried the Wii Zapper. I actually do better with Links Crossbow Training without that shell.

I'd like to be able to hold the two like this:

The issue with this (and the shell) is you can't shake the nunchuk, which for most games probably isn't much of an issue.

I think a shell like that to lock the Wii Remote and Nunchuk together is ultimately pointless, especially with the Classic Controller available. Though I also find it interesting that you want the two to be connected, as one reason I like the Wiimote and Nunchuk is the disconnected design.

Though I am somewhat surprised the Classic Controller doesn't have a slot in the top to put the Wii Remote. Then you could use the pointer with the Classic Controller, as well as having a place to set the remote so it isn't hanging or something.

are there really still cheaters running online play? guess so Cuz I tried playing a match, ended up being 1v1 and the guy slaughtered Me with one hit kills, from a pistol, from across a stage. I hoped the second match would be better, but it was another 1v1 with a different player who would shoot multiple rockets at me. that was the first time I ever bailed a match.

I've actually been wanting to get back into this game so if you want to we would set up a match some time.

Don't you have Modern Warfare as well? Mop it up and I are starting to play that together again now and it would be pretty coop to get an NWR group banded together on the same team fighting randoms.

I haven't completed MW:R and I haven't played it in months. I tried going online with it once, my first week with it, and it wasn't pretty. Even with such a short experience with it, I feel like I enjoy the Conduit's online experience much better. If something comes up, I'll try to play. Just shoot me a PM because I rarely ever check this part of the forums (or the forums in general anymore).

Since Wii games do not allow patches/updates, there isn't really anything they can do to stop hacking. There are some stronger hacks that can be detected, which will result in an IP ban, but these are things like modifying level data.

If they can do that, I wonder why they haven't? Hackers still get away with impossible situations in Mario Kart Wii, such as spawning more than one blue shell or Bullet Bill at a time, or placing their racer directly onto another player, glued to their every move. However, if a hacker tries to use a custom track online outside of a friend room, or uploads a hacked time trial time, they will be IP banned.
