IdeaMan, a very reputible insider from Neogaf, has said a branded game that was thought to not be able to run on the Wii U is being made for the system. He knows what it is but can't reveal it.

Even if downscaling the engine may be employed, it shouldn't be to a point the developers behind wouldn't recognize what they envisioned for their game visually.

So it's a really promising news about the viability, the future proof aspect, of the system (along with other data we got like Shin'en comments on their NotEnoughShaders interview).

I'm gonna go with Beyond Good and Evil 2 for a few reasons.

1) IdeaMan's source(s) are obviously from Ubisoft

2) Watch Dogs isn't a "next gen" game

3) After the love that Nintendo has been showing Rayman, and the fact that BG&E2 was said to be  a real "next gen" game that can't be made on current systems. I think Nintendo convinced Mr. Ancel that not only is Wii U the first next-gen console, but since he has had so much experience on the Wii U already, thanks to Rayman, that Wii U should probably be included (if not the target console) for the sequel of the game that sold best on the GC.

It was amazing to be in the theater at the Ubisoft press conference when they showed it for the first time. Nobody knew it was coming, and the whole place erupted into cheers at the end of it. Easily the biggest surprise of the show.

@BnM: While I'm pretty sure Watch Dogs will end up being a next-gen game by the time it comes out two years from now, BG&E2 does make a lot of sense. If anyone is going to reconsider preconceptions about the power of the Wii U, it's a guy who's already made a big exclusive game for it.

Watchdogs is already pretty much confrimed for the Wii U.  We already know its going to be on xbox 360 and include smartglass features. It wouldn't be a strech to see the game come out on the Wii U as well.

not a rumor but a fact:
wii games will be upscaled to HD if you play them on wiiU, altough nintendo said they would not be.
this happens after installing the first 1GB firmware update.

I've been reading about this as well.  I have not been thorough enough to confirm either. I suppose I could just try myself, but that's another update right?

This was being discussed in a thread in Neogaf but for the life of me I can't remember which one and threads move so fast over there that its a pain to try and find it now.  From what I had read and the images I saw from users that had actually tried it, it seems to work.  It looks like the WiiU upscales Wii games to HD.  Now it isn't the same as what Dolphin does as in taking the original source and outputting it in HD.  This just upscales it similar to what most HD tvs already do but users have been saying that the quality is better than what you get from TVs.  They have said the image is slightly sharper.  I'll see if I can try and find some more info tomorrow or try it out myself.  Time to take my ass to bed lol.  Catch you all tomorrow.

Not sure if the Wii U can handle that, but 720p should be relatively easy. Disappointed that there is no resolution bump, to say the least.

If they can do it with an emulator on a different architecture I would think the Wii U would be able to being able to leverage the similar architecture.
