Mafia LV: Mage's Mystery Day Two
« on: November 08, 2011, 03:44:33 AM »
Before I do the story, let me apologize for saying voting was going to end at 12pm. I meant to say 12am. So let me be clear; for today's voting, this thread will be closed at 12am EST, November 9th 2011. I'll get the item and dead threads up soon, but from now on, unless you take damage I'm not going to PM you your hp totals. That was my original plan, but since I forgot to send hp totals with roles, I did it for today. Don't forget to check yesterday's thread for an ending day story.

The members of the council woke slowly, fearing the outcome of their vote, or lack thereof. They still felt a draw to gather in the council room, but it was not nearly as powerful as yesterday's and so they took their time to get there, dragging their feet, fearing the truth.

Rather than a blue orb, it was the head of councilman Godfrey that was magically suspended in the middle of the room.

This is the result of both your action and inaction. The blue orb said from inside Godfrey's head. You must live with the truth of this result, but you are urged to continue diligently for the safety and security of Leoria!

With that, both orb and severed head disappeared, and the room's doors opened, allowing the servants to bring in breakfast of bacon, eggs, and bread.

"That blue orb told us to bring you conversational food, so here it is. It also told us to tell you to vote wisely."

The servants left, and the council started picking at the food, but none had much of an appetite, or desire to speak first.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Tis murder most foul I may have commited but then again, I had caught jrlibrarian with my favorite wench Theodora so I had just cause. My path is still righteous.

With no attack from either of those who seek to destroy us, I assume the fact that they may be lazy like jrlibrarian. Three subjects of the realm have failed to provide any justification of their existance so far. They are ThePerm, Despicable and Mop it up. I say we unite in a fellowship of some sort against these vagrants.

Personally, I used my attacking power against ThePerm last night. He was my second choice for the vote. I suggest all true servants focus their attacking on him since he has already been weakened a bit and use their swords with me in attacking Mop it up.

un-Vote Mop it up

Why won't Ceric join the Mop it up vote? He's clearly willing to target anyone else. Trying to protect his non-playing mafia partner?

Councilman = Townie
Usurper = Mafia
Rogue = Killer

I was going to wait until it actually happened, but the faces of the Usurpers are going to remain disfigured after death, but the orb will reveal their former position as a councilman. But they would be referred to as "usurper Stanos" and never again "councilman Stanos".

And, I hope you all are reading the ending story at the end of Day One

Day 2

Milady,

I hoped to write to you yesterday but it seemed as though yesterday ended unnaturally quickly. I sense the hand of the usurpers may be responsible for trying to shorten our time of consideration.

There was one member of our ranks who has remained silent for nearly a day and a half now. Your father saw fit to warn me about those who would remain silent before I set out for the castle, and I must take his advice to heart and cast my vote for the one known as Despicable.

May I return to you safe soon.

I've gotten a few questions about ability to use, so let me just clarify a few things:
You can send your ability use to me at any time between my posting of the day's story, and 12am that following morning.

You can simply send me the target of your attack(s) as I have all your skills listed in Excel which is what I am using to keep track of everything.

For the most part, there will be no reason for me to respond to your ability use, but for those for whom it is necessary, I will.

I could end up regretting it to. However, I have to say the Despicable Bandwagon is terrible and people need to change their votes. Here's why.

If Despicable is the Killer or Godfather, that's great. Let him be. He hasn't shown up yet so therefore he's not a threat to us. As long as he stays away, he can't send in a hit to kill us. However, we do know that ThePerm and Mop it up were absent. Now they are back. If they are the Killer or Godfather, they could kill one of us tonight. Meanwhile, we'll have voted off somebody that is currently a non-threat.

Think players, think!

The other thing townies have to realize is that if we organize together, we can basically perform a hit of our choosing against someone. Thus, we can have a vote kill and an ability kill if we work together and not scattershot about like players did last game. That's why I propose we should vote out Mop and attack ThePerm with our abilities. Thus, we have a chance to remove the two larger potential threats of the 3 inactive players.

Who's with me?

Guys, I'm a townie. How can I prove this to you? Other than, you know, getting voted out.

For starters, if MaryJane is following Khushrenada's rule template from his game, then that means that once again there are a couple of roles which could survive the hit. Yes this is unlikely, but, well, it happened last game. However, I searched through the rules and I didn't see it mentioned how much damage the hit does, so unless I missed it then I don't know if that's still the case.

Also, I checked the role listing, and unless I missed it I don't see it listed which Mafia member gets to make the hit. So which one is it? Is there a hit? And are there five Mafia members and a killer? Because that doesn't leave good odds...

Guys, I'm a townie. How can I prove this to you? Other than, you know, getting voted out.

1. The mafia hit is a final hit, it's immediate death. The Rogue's hit will be 12 damage. The vote is 10 damage + number of votes cast. It's possible for some characters to survive a vote out, but no one can survive a hit. And, the Globin Demon is the one who sends the hits, if he dies, Gero can send them. Sorry, I thought it was a general rule of mafia games that the mafia hit was absolute, and I forgot to differentiate from the Killer's hit. I'm trying :) but it's still my first time hosting.

2. There are 4 mafia members, the killer, and 8 townies including King Zaden, and the two Regal guard members.

4 mafia members? I though it was just two. Yikes. That makes this Despicable vote even more of a joke. There's no way the mafia isn't influencing this vote.

If Mop it up is telling the truth, that means that Stevey voted for a townie yesterday and tried to tie up the vote. Therefore, I'll change my vote to Stevey and leave Mop it up be.

Further fun with logic:

If Crimm had to ask if jrlibrarian was a townie, then he most likely isn't mafia since he would know jrlibrarian wasn't a mafia mate of his and vice versa, if jrlibrarian was mafia, he would know that already. That said, it could be he is mafia and was wondering if jrlibrarian had a role of some kind. Not conclusive but I'd but him in the non-mafia catagory.

Mop it up's questions on the game and number of mafia members is not something usually asked by mafia members. They know that info and don't want to bring further attention to themselves. Especially asking in public who can make the mafia hit. Therefore, I am going with non-mafia on this as well.

Ceric has tried to vote for 3 people today. That makes him look desperate to get any kind of vote going. Initially, I thought it could be to prevent a Mop vote out and they might be in cahoots. But if Mop is non-mafia, this no longer applies. Plus, townies often make themselves look bad and their intentions get misconstrued by people like me looking for a suspicious sign. I still don't like the current vote but am willing to put aside my mistrust and hope Ceric is just a hyper active townie trying to do what's best.

Nickmitch - Most likely not working with Ceric. Simply because Nickmitch asked about Ceric's vote against him. A lot of times mafia members will toss a throwaway vote against one of their own members. It helps keep them from always voting out innocent players and if that member is killed, helps give them some firing power to say they are innocent. However, it is very rare for a mafia member who does get a throwaway vote to say something in the daily thread about. Most likely, that would be talked about behind the scenes instead of mafia members fighting each other in the daily thread. This doesn't mean Nickmitch is innocent. Just that if either Ceric or Nickmitch is mafia, the other player most likely is not.

Despicable. Could very well be the Godfather. Could be the Killer. If we leave him alone and both those people make a hit tonight, then he will be neither provided he doesn't show up. If so, we can then keep from killing an innocent person. If one of those people doesn't show, then we have even more reason to suspect him of such an identity. In either case, keeping him alive is of far greater benefit to townies since he will either add to our numbers or block one of the nightly hits from occuring due to inactivity.

Note. None of the people listed above are ruled out from being the killer. Just non-mafia if listed as such.

End story and day 3 tomorrow, now I tired and must sleep to wake for work.

Boooo. Well, I hope Despicable turns out to be the killer. That would probably be the best result for the townies.

Now some final bits of logic. Removing the players I beleive to be non-mafia, I have this list:

Silenced
nickmitch
ThePerm
apdude
Sundoulos
Despicable
Shaymin
Stevey

8 Players. With a 4 member mafia, half of those people could be mafia. That said, I can not be sure of anyone except myself and the dead. Still, it should give us a good field to work with. So, who is suspicious.

Top suspects. Those who voted Despicable.

Silenced and Shaymin. I removed Ceric since he gets a special Khushrenada benefit of the doubt at the moment.

Even if Despicable is the godfather, they are still suspicious. With no indication that Despicable might show up in the next day or two, the mafia may have got antsy and decided to off him so that someone else can take the role of Godfather and start making some progress and hits.

The Perm - Was absent yesterday. No hits were made. Returned today. Could very well be the Godfather.

Stevey - All signs point to him trying to vote out a townie. It's convient to use the vendetta excuse to make sure you have no real good voting pattern to examine and off innocent players under the banner of revenge. Especially if one is mafia.

Suspects with no real reason yet but can't be ruled out.

Nickmitch - Is here and is laying low.

Apdude - Voted with me yesterday but may have done so to help kill a townie. Absent today and is usually a pretty regular player.

Sundoulos - Voted with me in a losing cause. May have done so to help me or to try and blame me for a bad choice. No evidence one way or the other yet.

Despicable - Well, I guess we'll know soon enough.

Some things to ponder over players since no one else wants to make any headway on what we have already. Even on quiet days, we can start using the little nuggets we have to start peicing together who might be who and looking at all sides of the evidence to see how it best may fit.

"Whoever this Khushrenada is, he spends all his time in this room sleeping."

"Someone, perhaps someone wishing to keep him silent, has been using their magic to keep him asleep."

"Why him?"

"How do you choose who you will spell each night? This blasted castles has reduced our magic to almost nothing!"

"Shall we vote then?"

When all votes were counted it was the one called Despicable they chose. He protested mightily, swore to the heavens of his innocence, but in the end, he was speaking to walls without ears, as the rest of the council filed out, one even pitying Khushrenada enough to carry him away from the ranting.

Rather than return to his room, the Usurper Stanos tried to convince his fellow Usurpers to save him.

"If we help you," the slow, almost unitelligible drawl of Globin Demon answered him, "we expose ourselves and bring down everyone's wrath against us at once. No, you are just as alone now as when you were born."

Losing his mind and ability to speak under the Globin Demon's influence, the Usurper Stanos began running through the castle checking every door and every window for a means of escape. Instead he found the one called Khushrenada with a deep sword wound in his chest, and the evidence of strong magic still coursing through his quickly cooling body. What killed him however, was neither the sword wound nor the magic, but the teeth marks in his neck that Stanos recognized as belonging to Globin Demon.

"Admiring your handy work?" A strong voice said directly into his ear.

"No, no, no, no! It wasn't me, it was..." Whatever magic had weakened Khushrenada had momentarily freed Stanos from Globin Demon's but that was temporary. He know hopped foolishly on one leg, as the means of his death was released from its scabbard.

Jamisson barely had to think about the cut that removed Stanos' head. His Sword of Beauty was sharpened to a point that could've cut stone, as were his skills with the sword. Stanos' head remained in its disfigured state, and Jamisson breathed a sigh of relief and vindication.

"Tomorrow, we will find out who you were."

The Regal Guard Knight bent down to examine the body of Khushrenada, who faced had reverted, but that same face was now marred by the evil touch of the Globin Demon's fingers. What Jamisson did notice, was the blue robe and curved Arakh of his squire, Artois.

Rage filled Jamisson as he thought of how young the boy was. How he would never feel the softness of a woman's pleasure-filled touch, he would never experience true battle, and he would never win himself any glory. A life cut short by evil within a castle would have been a much more honorable death if Artois could have died fighting rather than weakened by the council he was sworn to protect.

Jamisson picked up the body wishing to bury it, but the orb was still directing his thoughts:

"Rather than bury the squire, you must find the king."

The orb was right. Whatever feelings he had towards the squire he treated like a son, his first duty was to king and country.

"Zaden... Where are you?"

Voted out: Despicable (Usurper Stanos)
Mafia Hit/Attacked by abilities: Khushrenada (Regal Guard Squire Artois)
