I don't think we are going to see great looking third party games until Microsoft and Sony join the next gen. As long as developers are making the 360 the primary platform. There won't be much difference between a 360 and Wii U game. To illustrate this, check out Console vs PC on Youtube. The visual game experience between the two is small.

Bethesda isn't known for being a technical jaw dropper with its games.
If you want to see the current graphics gap between multiplatform X360 and the PS3 games and the best PC can offer, then the quickest way is to look at comparisons of Battlefield 3 and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Enhanced Edition. It's mostly in the details so your mileage my vary.

THe question I have isn't whether graphics can improve with technology.  Of course they can.  My question is are we getting to a level where graphics don't really have to improve much anymore...and is it worth the cost to developers to have them improve more?

I would argue that this next coming generation could last a while, because honestly we have almost everything we could want in gaming systems now.

The current generation has lasted a while. Even the Wii has lasted longer than most expected. If the 360 is anything to go by, the next generation could last a good 8-9 years.

Cut the Rope has you use two fingers to cut ropes simultaneously.

A shitty iPhone game requires it? That's a reason? God, I hope Nintendo don't included multi-touch so all the horrible iPhone games don't start getting ported over.

HEY! Cut The Rope is a very good game! >:^(

Thanks for the suggestion, I bought it from the app store last night after reading the praise for it. I can see the game designed without multi touch though, but still a wonderful little game.

The difference is CD Projekt's primary development platform is the PC. Practically everyone else focuses on the console's because that's where the money is.

A rumor with no real source.

Here's a juicy rumor for you guys and gals. We're hearing that Square-Enix may have worked some sort of deal with Nintendo to share a character or characters for use in a game project. We don't know what Square-Enix characters these are, but apparently they haven't been used in a very, very long time. Is Square-Enix looking to revamp a forgotten series/character with Nintendo's help?

I certainly don't believe it, but it would be nice to think Geno is getting a shot at Smash Bros.

I don't believe it either. My guess would be Chrono Trigger.

Geno in M&L 4 would be my guess. Although he doesn't completely fit there, does he?

"Sharing a character" sounds like a crossover type deal and "not used in a very, very long time" may rule out Chrono Trigger since that was remade for the DS some time ago.

Considering Square-Enix's pathetic history of "sharing" characters before in games like that DS Mario Basketball game, something tells me we're more likely to get such renowned characters as "Black Mage", "Fighter", and "Slime".  I would LOVE for a major favorite character like Geno to appear instead, though.  I've never understood why Square-Enix has always been so hesitant about putting a real named character in these crossover games when they have no problem whoring out such characters in their own crossover games like the Kingdom Hearts series.

You've answered your own question.  People need to give Square the Big Cuts to get the Good Stuff.

Well Geno was a heavily requested character by the Japanese and American fans for Brawl so it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if he was to appear in the next Smash Bros.  For Brawl, the majority of the new characters were Melee's most requested characters that didn't get in so Geno does have a chance this time.

Considering Sakurai started development after Kid Icarus was finished in February, I'd imagine the character roster has been finalized by now so if the rumor is true that Nintendo has recently worked out a license deal for a very old Square Enix character that would make Geno inclusion the most likely.
I’m gonna have you play every inch of this game! - Masahiro Sakurai

Youtube TV App coming to Wii U?
http://games.ign.com/articles/122/1223191p1.html
Quote
YouTube is developing a "TV experience" for next-generation consoles. In a job listing on Google Jobs, the company advertises that it's hiring a Game Console Software Engineer to develop "versions of YouTube to work with next generation game consoles."

The listing notes that the engineer will "build the next generation game-console-based TV experience with YouTube video content" and "integrate and optimize with distribution channels and devices including all major game platforms." It also specifically notes that candidates will need "deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and/or Nintendo Wii." YouTube already exists as an app for Xbox 360, so this position could be to expand the service onto the PS3 and Wii-U markets.

We've reached out to YouTube for comment, as well as Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft declined to comment.

makes sense.
