Yeah, Rare were being lazy whores when developing that game. They tried to call it a new game when it featured nearly every level from the original on NES and Mega Drive.
*Shakes fist at that stupid speeder bike level*

Anyway, the whole graphics thing....
Graphics all depend on the developer and how good they are. Huge specs are nice throw around in terms of advertising and such, but when a developer churns out rubbish, it doesn't matter.
Star Fox Adventures is a visually stunning game because unlike many other companies, Rare spent a good amount of time getting used to the limitations/abilities of the GC's GPU...

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Puzzle Collection
« on: February 10, 2003, 03:46:56 PM »
Yeah, Mario's Picross saved me from bordom many a time. Good old GameBoy version =)

IMO, this puzzle collection is a terrible rip-off.
To my knowledge it only features two games, am I right?

I'd like to see a real collection featuring Dr. Mario, Tetris Attack, Tetris: Bombliss, Yoshi's Cookie, Wario Woods, Kirby's Ghost Trap and ... Well, everything!

Well, personally I can't rip you it. But if you're willing to spend some time, head on over to Gamingforce.com, join up and enter the 'My Stuff' section. There, you can browse many a FTP. I'm sure somebody will have it....

Really? So what, the game will come with a pack-in fork controller, that'll be controlled by the CPU (Think R.O.B on NES) and it'll actually make your eyeballs pop out of your head by stabbing you when you lose a match? Crap, I gotta pre-order this baby! =D

At the moment, no.

The next BoF game is headed to the PS2, 'Breath of Fire Series' is it's name I believe. Which leads to the thought that the next one will be headed to PS2 as well, and so on.

The closest you'll get to BoF on GameCube is by buying a GBA Player, BoF and BoF 2 on GBA. =)

Nintendo Gaming / Drought? What drought?
« on: February 09, 2003, 12:50:48 PM »
While the GameCube is facing a MASSIVE drought in Europe, in terms of both first party and third party games, I still don't consider it major.
It's nowhere near as bad as the game situation with the Nintendo 64, where you actually had to wait months for one new game. Even then, it was often crap (Here kid, you've played Mario 64, PW64 and Wave Race 64, wait two months and here's bloody Crusin USA and Killer Instinct Gold -_-)

Nintendo Gaming / Secret projects!!
« on: February 08, 2003, 04:24:58 PM »
Hmmm, just a thought, but NST's secret game could very well be "Mini-Racers"

It was featured at 2001's E3 for Nintendo 64, but never made it due to the death of the machine. Hell, Silicon Knights moved Eternal Darkness to GameCube, same as Capcom with RE0 and Rare with Dinosaur Planet.

They might have done the same.

Anyway, Mini-Racers was shaping up to be a kind of "Off-Road/RC Pro-AM" type racer..

Yes, I do believe Nintendo Australia have a low budget, but I refuse to believe it's so low that they can't even show a single advert on TV. Face it, they've taken our money and run. They don't give a crap about their loyal fans, soon enough developers will notice the lack of sales here and stop local releases (LucasArts did it with Pod Racer on Dreamcast due to it's low fanbase here, hell, even Sega themselves didn't release Sonic Shuffle)

I just pray the Freeloader makes it this time around...

Nintendo Gaming / Splinter Cell enhanced for Gamecube.
« on: February 05, 2003, 07:50:32 PM »
Damn, I already went out and got it for Xbox =\
Well, I'll give it a hire on GameCube.

This game is a work of art as it is, I recommened this gem to every GameCube owner out there! Liked GoldenEye? You'll love SC.

BTW, while I'm here, I'll just let you all know I won't be here for a week. I'm finally starting work tommorrow (casual), hey, I deserved all those months off after my HSC dammit!

So yeah, catch you all next week. Or, if I'm not dead tired, I might pop on for a bit (Working 12 hour shifts.. Arg)

Nintendo Gaming / I sent a letter to nintendo europe...
« on: February 05, 2003, 01:03:14 PM »
Wow, very well written Rory C.
I enjoyed every word in that letter, and I agree 100%. I too, fail to see why it's taken Nintendo so long to convert Metroid Prime. Splinter Cell was released in the same time frame in the US, yet it appeared on European (Even Australian) shelves a mere four weeks later, fully translated into different languages, and this too is a text heavy game.

I really wish Nintendo would take their fans seriously. It's almost like they're laughing at us because we don't live in the USA.

Plus, I'm still sore over the whole Animal Crossing issue. Sure, Nintendo still have it on their Australian release list for this year, but... Why? The sequel is around the corner for the rest of the world. First they promised us Doshin the Giant instead of Animal Crossing, but we didn't get that either. Now there are rumours going around that Nintendo think the European audience won't enjoy the odd gameplay featured in AC. Yeah Nintendo, take a gander over at the sales of The Sims on PC (Even PS2) in Europe. See all the big numbers? Wow, maybe some of us do enjoy Life sims! Shock!. Besides, Sony themselves have learnt that we DO enjoy strange gameplay. That's why they converted Vib Ribbon and Klonoa: Volleyball on PSOne here. You won't find them in the US...

I'll give it a hire, at most. There's no way I'm gunna fork over the money for this. Too many other great things I have to get... *Ahem* Metroid, Sonic Mega Collection, GBA SP (BTW, GBA SP has been given a $200 AUD price tag! Sweet!)

I do wish the lads who created this game the best. They created one of my most favorite games of all time (Bonk's Adventure), but I just don't like the look of this game. Too much of an F-Zero/WipEout wannabe in my eyes.

Nintendo Gaming / Offical 2002 Game Of The Year Nominees
« on: February 04, 2003, 04:24:25 PM »
Wow, I'm shocked to see Battlefield in the running for Game of the Year. Seriously.

Yes, it was a good game, but it suffered from a rushed release, and it basically couldn't be run on anything below a Geforce 2 400 MX for quite some time (Even then, it chugged bad)

I do hope Metroid Prime wins it. Then again, I'd be pleased with Vice City taking the award too. I know alot of MS and Nintendo die-hards put crap on the game 24/7, but it really is a fantastic game. Considering the PS2's hardware, It's a wonder how they got it running so smoothly. It draws an INSANE amount of poly's on screen.

And why is it that Rez is NOT in the "Innovation" section? Who's bright idea was it to throw the game in the action/adventure section? It's one of the most original games the world has ever seen! It now has to compete with the likes of GTA because some dumb ass played 5 seconds of it and thought it was just another shooting game... *Sigh*

Well, it was originally an arcade game. I spose that counts as a port *Shrugs shoulders*

Besides, I see nothing wrong with these ports. Unlike other companies, Sega put some quality time into these conversions.

Nintendo Gaming / Anybody else looking forward to TMNT game?
« on: February 03, 2003, 01:55:04 PM »
Hey, if it's even half the game that Turtles In Time/HyperStone was, I'll be happy.

I'm really not expecting much from this. I just have a strong feeling Konami will screw it up in some way...
What I really want is a port of Turtles In Time (TIT, heh) on GBA. That's one port I wouldn't mid paying full price for again..

I'd say Nintendo lost their number one with the whole introduction of the Nintendo 64. They made alot of enemies during the production of it. Shunning Sony away, pissing off Silicon Graphics Inc. with the anouncement of the cartridge format, not to mention Square, and well, every other company.
Plus Nintendo were slow. They often boasted how the N64 would be so much powerful than the other two, and they kept pushing the release date back. Over and over. From 1994 to freakin 1996.

Yes, upon release, it stunned everybody. But Nintendo thought Mario 64 would keep them going for quite some time. They got lazy with their releases. Fans had to wait months for a new game. Not to mention all the big 3rd parties avoided the system like it was smeared with dog crap. Nothing from Square, Capcoms first release was a kiddy Tetris game, Namco made a kiddy baseball game as their first and only game (They didn't develop RR64, they licensed it to Nintendo, who destroyed everything that was good with Ridge Racer)

They pissed everybody but the die hard fans off.

And now, it would seem Nintendo have won back 3rd party support... But now they've just gone down the crapper. They're keeping everything hush-hush, everything is a damn secret. It's so stupid. If nobody has any idea of what they're up to, why should people care? Or support them? Telling a mainstream gamer to wait for amazing games in the future won't work. They need to be blasted with hype in order for a purchase.

And personally, I'd like to see Nintendo get serious with the GBA. I'm disgusted by their first party support. Porting over Mario World is a nice idea, but where's the new Mario? And why should I be forced to pay full price for it? It's over 13 years old! All they did was add a save game anytime feature and throw in those voice samples..

EDIT: Can't believe we've still got language restrictions here =/

Nintendo Gaming / Sonic Adventure DX
« on: February 02, 2003, 11:28:21 PM »
I'm getting this for sure. Hey, I'm a long time Sonic fanboy, I can't not get this =P

IMO, it's more fun than SA2. Mainly due to the fact that the player isn't forced to play as the many different characters, and take part in their slower paced levels. Choose Sonic, and bam, lighting fast fun all round!

Ohhhh, and also have a rotating strap in unit. You know those stupid flight sim games in the arcade where you get in like a huge ball type-thing, and spin around in all directions.
Imagine doing a loop and having the whole machine spin you upside down!

We'd have hundreds of sick kids in arcades everywhere, fun for everyone!

I'm glad to see EZBoard got the boot, things are looking good so far, considering this is a beta. But there are a few things I'm not happy with (shock horror). First, this reply box is WAY too long, second, these Emoticons suck ass, and finally, I'm a bit sad about the lack of avatars. They make a forum complete!

Everybody looks the same without them...
I liked PGC's original avatar settings. Where they could only be a strict 20x20 size, and you had to host them yourself...
