Capcom Bringing MT Framework Engine to Wii?
« on: October 26, 2009, 04:07:53 PM »
Capcom might be porting the engine that powers Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 to Wii.

In a report from the Nikkei Industrial, Capcom has stated that they will bring the multiplatform game engine that powers their Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games to Wii in an attempt to improve development efficiency. The article doesn't state the name of the engine, but Capcom's current multiplatform engine for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games is called the MT Framework. The engine powers Capcom's major games, such as Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2.

The article also states that bringing the engine to Wii will promote more simultaneous multiplatform development, saving cutting their total development costs by twenty percent while shaving thirty-three percent off of development time when developing games separately.

If the MT Framework engine is ported to Wii, more major Capcom releases may be possible on the platform. The article suggests that Capcom hopes to create Wii versions of the company's major multiplatform releases.

Don't forget the PC! The Capcom ports of Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet: EC, Street Fighter IV, and Resident Evil 5 are very good if reviews are to be believed.

Hmm, will this mean a Lost Planet Wii? Or maybe even a Devil May Cry game! Or something a bit fresher like Viewtiful Joe ThWii!

I think a Viewtiful Joe game would have been released for the Wii as its leading platform anyways, the PS2 versions sold like crap compared to the GameCube versions (I think both PS2 versions failed to even sell 20K copies).

This is good news though as it could mean more likely for the Wii to get multiplatform games. Maybe make Super Street Fighter IV the first one.

RE5. You are coming to me. Yessssssss.

I'm just gonna quote myself from the Rumor Thread...
This isn't a rumor (yet) but Capcom is making RE5: Director's Cut adding in extra scenes involving Jill Valentine.
What are the chances that Capcom is going to finally do for the Wii what it did for the PS2 and release and upgraded version of RE? I'm sure they would release the same game on the PS360 as well, but the Wii version could be the definitive as far as controls are concerned.

I'm just gonna say it here. Capcom is bringing RE5: Directors Cut to Wii and it will be the definitive version (if you're not playing on a HDTV)

now lets hope I'm right. spread the rumor. Maybe Capcom is listening.
RE5 Director's Cut is for PS3, basically it is support for the Sony Wands.

Capcom better take this opportunity to bring RE5 to the Wii.
It makes no sense to bring the whole RE franchise to Wii and then decide to skip out on RE5 especially when they make a DC version that is focused on Wii-like controls.

I'm starting the rumor here, so I hope Capcom is listening.

RE5 with Wii controls might be worth trying. I couldn't get interested in the HD version due to its clunkiness.

I agree Jonny, I own RE5 but haven't touched it much because I hate the controls so much. It will be interesting to possibly have to choose between better graphics and better controls!

I also agree Johnny.  I played the demo a couple of times, didnt like dieing because of clunky controls (and yes, I know the original RE controls were clunky on purpose)  and isnt the 5 engine actually just built off of 4?

Given these are the same people who ported Dead Rising, and got mass standing ovations for their talented efforts, then i will reserve judgement.

Or you could just get the PS3 director's cut and--assuming the wand controls work like the Wii controls--eat your damn cake.  ;)
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!
