Mafia 78: Day 2 - Security Concerns in the Office
« on: August 01, 2018, 01:11:36 AM »
Thank you for participating in our initial questionnaire. Now, before we move on to the next round of the selection process, we have a few house-keeping rules to attend to.
Someone apparently thought it would be a funny prank to take a dump on our receptionists’ desk last night. But thankfully the money Bethesda has given us for our work on Doom and Wolfenstein allowed us to invest in a new, state of the art security camera system.

ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002, while we are a playful bunch, and love pranks and jokes, this crosses a line. Mrs. Johnson is a sweet woman and did not deserve this kind of treatment, especially after you gobbled so many of her taffy candies when we signed you in yesterday. Please leave immediately, we have already called the police and will be filing a report with them.
Additionally, we received a Cease & Desist letter from Nintendo's Mafia-like lawyers. It turns out that the F-Zero X Expansion Kit was being pitched by a group of dedicated fans, and we may no longer pursue consideration of your project since it does not have the blessing of Nintendo. While escorting them out of the building, security discovered that they were armed with a scalpel and a forged medical license. It appears they were moonlighting as Doctor Stiles!

Now that that unpleasant business is out of the way, on to today’s interview questions.
>What is your favorite game to play on your down time (besides the game you are pitching)?
>What is your dream game to develop that you have not made yet?
>If you got to pick one of the other contestants’ games to be ported instead of yours which would it be and why?
>Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

Summary
ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002 (Townie) voted out by the townies.
F-Zero X Expansion Kit (Doctor) hit by Mafia.

>What is your favorite game to play on your down time (besides the game you are pitching)?
I love playing Bioshock Infinite. It is hella rad and a really great story to it.

>What is your dream game to develop that you have not made yet?

Dream game would be a Legend of Zelda game where you can play as Zelda and manage the kingdom of Hyrule. With all the different species in Hyrule and you could decide how you want to fight Ganon all over Hyrule.
It would blend RTS with a single player open world game where you are Zelda and you manage your allies.

>If you got to pick one of the other contestants’ games to be ported instead of yours which would it be and why?
I would probably pick Shyguys game  It seems like a retro game with lots of story and a fun old school feel.

>Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Yes many times in various circumstances.  Life is Strange.

Here I am, understated and fashionably late to the port discussions.  Little fanfare and lowkey one of the most fun recently released multiplayer games on PC.

What is your favorite game to play on your down time (besides the game you are pitching)?

Adult Swim Game's newest hit Pool Panic, of course!  Or maybe another great title - Battle Chef Brigade!

>What is your dream game to develop that you have not made yet?

...what genre haven't we touched with the Rick and Morty property, yet?

>If you got to pick one of the other contestants’ games to be ported instead of yours which would it be and why?

Knack 2 - to see heads spin when Sony won't allow cross play but will let one of their first party games on a competitor console!

>What is your favorite game to play on your down time (besides the game you are pitching)?
Wow, great question.  It's tough because, I'll be honest, I'm constantly enjoying the experiences we're building.  Whether it's at work or not!  And I have been known to take my work home with me.  But what do I like to play for fun?  Well, like most gamers, I don't silo myself into any singular experience.  I play all types of games, across platforms and genres.  I never like to miss out on any big or marquee releases.

>What is your dream game to develop that you have not made yet?
I'd like to think I'm building it now!  But in terms of what may be next, we're always looking at the horizon and wondering what's out there, what's the next big project for us.  And while we have ideas, we need to stay focus on our current endeavors, so that we can fully realize what we're working on.

>If you got to pick one of the other contestants’ games to be ported instead of yours which would it be and why?
Tough question.  Everyone has exciting projects.  It's hard to pick just one since they come from so many different areas.  But we would have to look at the business propositions first.

>Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Well, I've made a lot a deals in my day and done quite a bit of dancing, but we'll leave it at "no comment".

Aw, the day was over already? We barely even got through all of the silliness first!

>What is your favorite game to play on your down time (besides the game you are pitching)?
Crash Bandicoot. What, you expected something from Sega? We're not so biased, and Crash seems to hate the big N for the evil cads they are.

>What is your dream game to develop that you have not made yet?
A 3D Sonic game with universal praise. How has this not happened yet? So many good ones have been released unto the unappreciative masses.

>If you got to pick one of the other contestants’ games to be ported instead of yours which would it be and why?
Why would I do that when mine's actually over 50 quality games in one? You can't top that!

>Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

Dear Panic Button,

I'm sorry to hear that the Insanolord Corporation is such a shitty company. Of course, considering the games they release, I guess these recent events should come as no surprise since they clearly have had no problem foisting their crap on the public for years.

Thank you for arranging this opportunity to interview further on the merits of porting Amiibo Festival to the Switch. I wasn't sure I would be able to make it as my schedule these days is just packed. I saw a flea on my friend, so I snuck up with a net and snagged it. Then I sold it at a shop. It was worth a lot! As you can see, I've got a lot on my plate but I'll try and do my best to answer your questions.

What is your favorite game to play on your down time (besides the game you are pitching)?

Oooohh. Tough question. I'm really, really tempted to say Hide and Seek but I'm feeling the love more for Tag right now. Part of that might be because, while I was with my friends, we all played Tag today. I was really fast at catching everyone. They were so surprised, they gave me some sur-PRIZE money for winning!

If you got to pick one of the other contestants’ games to be ported instead of yours which would it be and why?

Hmmm. Well, that is a tough one since I'm not sure who all Panic Button is in talks with or considering in making an offer in regards to porting their software to the Switch. I've heard some various rumors of different companies that you may see as having some potential but just as to what the software you would be interested in porting is less clear or seems to be rather undefined. That said, I do have some friends and connections in Level 5 whom I've met at various Nintendo functions thanks to their development of some software like the Professor Layton series, Yokai Watch and even Dragon Quest. From my contacts, I've learned that they have approached you with a proposal to port Rogue Galaxy. So, I'll support my friends and say that if Amiibo Festival can not be ported for some reason then I'd hope it's because you went with Rogue Galaxy instead. Although, I'm not sure this has to be a one or the other proposition. I think it would be fantastic if both could be ported over. However, I do feel there is one caveat to porting Rogue Galaxy. I think to truly make it a success on the Switch, I would make a recommendation to change the characters from anime humans to cute anthropomorphized animals. Imagine roaming the stars with some cute kitties and puppies or even a ferocious cuddly tiger as your allies. Perhaps the main character could be a bad boy wolf or heroic and clever fox.

Of course, a truly successful interview is one in which the interviewee also asks some questions and it isn't a one sided process. Therefore, I would like to take a moment to ask something of my own. What kinds of games do the people at Panic Button like to play? What company's software are they most interested in hearing about? Let's say we did a small poll of just a few names and people could vote BeautifulShy FlyHigh Games, Sega, Level 5 or Nintendo. Who would win in such a poll?

I'm afraid I must now hurry away. I need to attend and present at the opening of a new Public Works Project. I will write back to you in regards to your other questions at my earliest convenience.

So busy,
Aya Kyogoku

Dear Panic Button

I would like to propose a counter proposal for a game that doesn't merit that doesn't deserve to be ported.

unVote Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival aka Linkle/Khushrenada.

Reason being is that they have placed theirselves in a position through the name change so that they could act innocent, like they said in the other thread, so that they could use that they are the last of the name change to gather sympathy and go through the game unempeded while still remaining alive while they can be the last remaining player.

Pretty sure the break of tie on pokepals part is to jump on an bandwagon.  I think after yesterdays singular vote by Khushrenada/ Linkle/ Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival to end the day it seems like people want to follow Khushrenada/Linkle/ Animal Crossing:Amiibo Festival and try and get on their good side.

For that reason I am changing my vote over to pokepal. Vote pokepal

Dear Panic Button,

I hope you are all doing well over there. I don't have a lot of news to report at the moment aside from the fact that I went for a bold makeover but it was a colossal flop. I think I'll just stick with my original style. As I mulled over these life choices, I also mulled over the other remaining questions and wanted to get back to you to finish the day's interview.

What is your dream game to develop that you have not made yet?

I must admit I'm a bit nervous to tell you this as I'm afraid you may try to think use the idea and steal this potential game away from me. Yet, I feel we've also started to develop a bond of friendship through this constant communication so I think I can trust you. Plus, I consulted with our legal department and filed a copyright patent on it and went over the details with them to prove I've had this idea at a date before anyone else may now start development on it if stolen.

The title of the game is Pen Pals! In the game, you and other people/competitors are writing letters to a special someone that you are trying to win over who could help you in fulfilling a goal of yours in life. Something like finding love, making a friend or a money making venture like porting a game to a video game console. The twist is that you can also see the letters that other people are writing and therefore able to judge how successfully you are doing in becoming a friend to the special suitor you are pursuing. Along the way, the suitor weighs their feelings about the different correspondents and inform that they just don't seem to be as compatible as the suitor hoped and has decided to end the communication and letters between them thus eliminating that person from the competition. This continues until there is only one or a few pen pals left depending on the goal of that round. Aside from just writing letters and winning people over with their prose, players can also try and send the perfect gifts along with their letters in order to sway the suitor over to their side and show how much they are learning about and care about the interests of the suitor. Oh, and as a fun additional twist, all the players and characters would be cute little anthropomorphized animals.

Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

Sorry, no. I've only danced between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Now, I'd like to ask you another question. What company do you think would be most incompatible with porting their wares over to the Switch? Like, would you vote Mop it up Inc. because of their early Sega rhetoric of being anti-Nintendo? Or would it be Nickmitch Knack and their seemingly generic shovelware? I am curious as to what your answer may be as I would like to know more about you and hope you will open up to me as I am opening up to you.

Warmest wishes,
Aya Kyogoku

P.S. - I've also included some Animal Crossing / Rocket League crossover T-Shirts for everyone. I borrowed a sewing machine from Sable (a friend of mine) and made a bunch of cool-looking clothes. I'm looking forward to wearing them around town! I hope you will be excited to try them out as well!
