I feel like 8 Directs per year is the ideal number. Four big quarterly shows, and four smaller Directs to fill in the gaps.

2012 is sneaky underrated with the Wii U launch lineup. NSMBU is often overlooked because of the previous games in the series, but it's the best of the bunch.
2013 was crazy good. A great 3D Mario, the best 3D Zelda ever, and NES Remix on Wii U, while the 3DS had the best new Pokemon since Gold/Silver and the best portable Zelda since Link's Awakening.
