I need to check that site out. On Podcast Beyond Ryan mentioned he tried it once and ended up connecting with a room full of boys from Iowa who knew him from Podcast Beyond. Man. That must have been weird.

EDIT:  Oh gawd.  Just tried that site for the first time.  Somebody please hold me.  Comfort now.  I saw bad things.  And nobody accepted me.

Well my Eagles have traded McNabb over to Washington.
Vick is still there and Kevin Kolb is there also they got a rookie QB in the draft. So it looks like Eagles are going young this year. We shall see what comes of this.

A lot of people in the media think the Eagles are crazy.  I'd agree.  McNabb isn't the reason they haven't won a super bowl.  Hey may not be the greatest QB, but he's still way better than most.  Give that team with McNabb some solid defense and some receivers and then you're talking Super Bowl run.  Maybe throw in a new running back too.  Then again, I suppose the same could be said for Cutler and the Bears.  Just get some solid D and receivers.  One thing is for sure, QB's get to much blame.  When a receiver doesn't run his route right, nobody can tell.

Speaking of Rare, I was always curious.  Did any of the major leaders from the team that developed Donkey Kong Country move on to do better things with another company?  Whoever worked on that project really nailed it.

Casual: Monkeys, driving my car

Hardcore: Keeping myself alive, gaming, dinosaurs

I should add keeping myself alive to my list.  Sounds important.  And just what does your Dinosaur habit involve?  Lots of reading?  Watching documentaries?  Whats your theory on why they all died off?  Fun fact.  I have a friend that looks like a Raptor.

Joystiq: "take us serious, we am serious journalistz"
Edge: "Videogames are art, Edge is art, my toenails are art, you lower beings"
old 1up: "Videogames need to be more like hardcorez hollywood blockbusters, then We can be paparazzi and party hard."
Giant Bomb: "Junk food! Extreme video gamez! We are cool!"

Exactly.

I actually find the podcast for NWR and Gamescoop from IGN to have a similar vibe.  The hosts all get along great, crack lots of jokes, and just want to have fun with games.  I hate Fox as much as the next guy, but IGN is a diamond in the rough.  Especially with Greg Miller.

I should elaborate on Giant Bomb, I enjoy their show too, most of the elitism comes from Ryan Davis.  I also like Invisible Walls at times, b/c they're grumpy like me.  Infendo also used to be good.  2 years ago.  Then the show died.

Though I should apparently hate IGN bc they're popular I follow the site bc I like a lot of their staff. They're also down to Earth unlike some other media outlets who give off a vibe of elitism, like Joystiq, Edge, the old 1up, and even Giant Bomb at times.

So I was swimming the other day, and I thought to myself, "Self, swimming is great, but I'm no pro, I'm just a casual swimmer.  And I'm ok with that".

That got me thinkin, what other activities am I casual at and what activities am I hardcore at?  Here's a few off the top of the ole dome:

Casual:
Mountain Biking
Roller Blading
Free-styling
Running
Following the NBA
Playing the drums
Eating Watermelon
Reading
Working
Playing the drums
Visiting the Midwest
Talking to random strangers
Raving
Listening to Prince

Hardcore:
Video Games! (obviously)
Surfing the World Wide Web
Listening to podcasta
Thinking about women when I'm all by myself
Entertainging my cats
Writing songs
Taking lots of medicine
Listening to albums all the way through
Eating Chips
Drinking Mountain Dew

So what say you NWR forumers???

Nice to see so much competition out the gate!  Took a while for people to really take shots at the iPhone with comparable products.  This should make for a major iPad upgrade next year.

The Browns got the QB I wanted them to get, and as a complete steal at 21st in the third round. They really improved the secondary with a corner in the first round and a safety in the second, and improved an already pretty good O line. I think Holmgren did pretty well.

I concur

Gizmodo had no evidence that the item was stolen and returned the stolen item when requested to do so. They had no license agreements or contracts with Apple preventing them from releasing the information they found.

I'm no lawyer, but I don't see any grounds for a search and seizure warrant. Apple just bought a judge.

Guess I'm the minority here....wait that's not a joke...

..anyway, I like the the crew they have now, the Craigwaaaaay's are cool and Spikin' the mic's! thing is hilarious....to me. Oh and the "KIDS" thing doesn't bother me, I know who they mean.

Ya, the Voice Chat podcast is much better now.  Bozon and Matt just hated to be there and it dragged the show.  Craig n the new guys have a LOT more enthusiasm.

The IW v Acti scandal seems like I should be more interesting, but I just can't get into it.  I think GertsmannGate was far more entertaining.   Just sayin.

How did everyone feel about their teams draft?  I'd give the Bears a 3/10.  Our first pick was a guy to replace the great Alex Brown that we just let go, and then we took some QB when we've already got 3, one of them being the best ever, and our back up from CO, Caleb Haney can hold his own.  What a waste.  We should have stocked our O line.

As for my local team the Broncos.  I'm happy and annoyed they took Tebow.  He gets on my nerves, and I think he'll be a bust, but it'll at least make the year interesting considering they got rid of all their best players.

I'd be surprised if Apple takes them all the way to court.  Its bad PR as the many in the public already view them as pretentious di$$s with overpriced hardware that constantly breaks.  I've never had an Apple product go more than a year without breaking.  Oh well.  I'll still buy the next iphone.

I was glad when Bozon left, he was just a mockingbird with no personality and nothing to add, other than constant lame fart jokes only he thought were funny.  Matt was great during the N64 era, as I followed N64.com.  But it was obvious the past few years that he did not want to cover Nintendo anymore, so I'm glad he's found a new job.  And as and owner of the iPhone, I couldn't be happier that he will be leading a team to clean up the mess that is the iPhone Game App Store.  Its no easy task, but I'm curious to see what the store looks like over the next 24 months.

You "grew up" and came to believe that large amounts of crap or mediocrity outweigh fewer amounts of quality titles?  Ohh....kay.... :Q

He grew up to realize that quality and quantity aren't mutually exclusive.

Yes, that and the fact that my friends who bought the PSone actually did have great games to play that weren't on the N64.  I remember scoffing at them for playing games like Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy 7, etc, and always exaggerating the games flaws to validate my decision to stay emotionally and financially committed to Nintendo, no matter what.

Then, I saw them playing Parappa the Rappa, and I said "Ah, f##K it, give me the controller!"  And I played that game from start to finish in one sitting and absolutely loved it.  That was the day my fanboism died.     :cool;

Sonic and Sega All Star Racing 5/5

Man, I picked this PS3 game up on a whim after playing the demo, and bam, this is what I was looking for in a kart racer!  Fans who declare Mario Kart 64 the premiere game should definately check this out.  It seems faster than Mario Kart Wii and the developers really put a lot of TLC into the tracks.  Its like candy for the eyes.  They look great, with tons of variety.  Each one really has a different feel and speaks volumes to the game it represents.  And man, the Samba De Amigo track absolutely blew me away.  Blew me away, like playing Rainbow Road for the first time on the SNES.  The announcer is cheesy, but a good cheesy, had me cracking up with his casual sarcasm.  Usually I turn the sound off and listen to music or a podcast when playing racing games, but the annoucer, combined with the music and characters voices made keeping the sound on really worth while.

The only thing you can knock this game for is its another cart racer.  I say big deal.  Games copy each other all the time, and its for the gamers benefit.  On top of that, almost every other non Mario kart racer has sucked, so churning out a good one, is a rarity these days.  The development team didn't just take Mario Kart and slap Sega skins over it.  This team really understood what Sega stood for and completely interjected that personality into this game.  I'll go ahead and say what all the mainstream reviewers didn't have the balls to say.  Sonic and Sega All Star racing is the definitive kart racer this generation!

Sadly, it will receive mediocre sales as teh casualz already have Mario Kart Wii.  Why on Earth would they try another game?

What I don't like is when PR speak is shot back out at me from fanboys.  Back in the N64 days it wasn't uncommon to hear a Nintendo fan use the "quality over quantity" retort.

Oh man, totally forgot about that!  I was one of them, used to say that all the time.  Then I grew up.

You can't fault developers for having a preference.  It like getting made at Van Halen for ignoring rap.  Let the artist do, what the artist wants to do.
