Title: Rabbids Go Home - New Rayman game w/o Rayman
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on April 01, 2009, 05:49:53 PM
http://gonintendo.com/?p=77613

It is not a mini-game fest.

- action/adventure game
- Rabbids have decided they want to go home, but they don’t know where home is. For whatever reason, they decide that the Moon is their destination
- Rabbids goal is to collect enough junk to build a tower to reach the moon
- control two Rabbids at once: one sits inside a shopping cart, another pushes
- push cart into various junk to collect it
- some items require extra steps to collect
- use ‘BWAH!’ attack to scare clothing off of NPCs, then collect to add to your tower
- other items are used to give rabbids new abilities, power-ups for their cart

Is anybody gonna check this one out or have you all givien up on Rayman and his rabbid problems?

Is this legit? Sorry, but I am paranoid due to the holiday.

But if this is true, I know fans hate Ubisoft, but this seems like a very creative game and its a new take on the Rabbids.

I hope it turns out good, I would love to play this game.

Any thing announced today should be taken with a grain of salt. I will wait to see if this is real before commenting.

You know what I find funny? Publishers know that today is the day people make up some insane bullcrap and try to pass it off as real, meaning that anything announced today will not be taken seriously.

Yet, it seems that they use April 1st as the day to make big announcements and for people to post big exclusives from magazines.

A few years back Square announced that they had bought Enix and had become "Square-Enix". In 2007, Sega and Nintendo announced that Mario and Sonic would appear in a game about the Olympics.

Its like the joke is that these announcements are real.

I'm thinking it is legit because why would GoNintendo have two April Fools Day articles? Unless they are doing that to make them more believable.

New information coming from the latest issue of ONM…

- 6 hub worlds, 20 environments, over 50 missions
- roughly 100 different humans, all based on various stereotypes
- main enemies are the Verminators and Vermi-dogs
- Verminators set traps to catch Rabbids, but they are actually scared of Rabbids
- levels hide various collectibles
- collect target items for new abilities: use a hospital patient’s oxygen bed to float
- new game mechanics added in roughly every 20 minutes
- target items can help you progress in other environments
- chase, battle, time attack, boss missions
- 15 hours of gameplay
- cutscenes explain missions
- crazy music and slapstick comedy…and fart jokes
- each mission ends with you flushing your goodies down a toilet
- multiplayer, but details not yet revealed
- locations: Airport, Builders’ Yard, Graveyard, Museum, Office, Pile, Supermarket (may be more)
- games of inspiration: Mario Kart and Super Mario Galaxy
- motion-control for opening doors and other context-sensitive events
- took almost a year to decide what direction to go with the game

OMG! It's the next Diddy Kong Racing!
Kart racing + explorable overworld = DKR

Now I'm really curious.

After playing the monstrosity known as Diddy Kong Racing DS I do not want to hear Diddy Kong Racing again. However I have faith with Michel Ancel and the Beyond Good and Evil team.

SO Micheal Ancel is directing this game & he is working with the BG&E team on the Wii.
So the BG&E team is getting plenty of Wii programing experience before they get back to pre-production of BG&E2.
Does this make the chances of BG&E2 coming to Wii any better?
Title: Re: Rabbids Go Home - New Rayman game w/o Rayman
Post by: Peachylala on April 16, 2009, 12:52:24 PM
I'd rather have an original Ancel IP (not Rabbids, even though I like em'), built ground up for the Wii. While having BG&E2 would be nice, I'm still bitter they ignored the Wii. X360 and PS3 version of BG&E2 will have nice graphics, that I will admit, but part of me wants to see the game massively fail. Why? I highly doubt the HD crowd will get fired up over a game thats: 1) not a hardcorez FPS shooter 2) is colorful (though the BG&E2 trailers have me worried it's going to be Real-BROWN) 3) doesn't have DoA boobie phsyics.

Where's Pro to mock this current discussion when you need him?

I believe I read somewhere it's running on the same tech that BG&E2 is running on, and BG&E2 is on hold(still in the pre-production phase) until this game is done.

Did people really hate DKR that much? I loved it on the N64.

Maybe if this sells well they'll consider making a Wii version of BG&E

Rabbids Go Home looks like it's going to do well, since Ancel & Co will do such a good job on it.

It's going to do SO WELL that Ubisoft will realize BG&E2 is too risky a project being a non-casual game, and will be promptly cancelled.  The Rabbids Go Home Engine (formerly the BG&E2 engine) will be dispersed through the rest of Ubisoft development for all platforms, since it's obviously a success.

The world doesn't need a high-def 3-dungeon non-Zelda.

Jade is dead.  We're more likely to see Shenmue III for DSi than BG&E again.

It's either a love it/hate it game. I loved it as a kid on the N64. Now? Not so much. Mario Kart Wii is where the racing is at (unless Excitebots takes it crown, which it might...maybe).

The hate towards the DS version is valid because Rare added in a bunch of useless **** and that AWFUL speed boost mechanic. It's multi-tasking done horribly wrong.

Shenmue? Sorry Pro, we're more likely to see another Monkey Ball game on DSi then a new Shenmue.

And Jade isn't dead, she's just going through HD plastic surgery.

DKR for the N64 was fun, if you didn't mind playing through the game as the mouse or the turtle.
Title: Re: Rabbids Go Home - New Rayman game w/o Rayman
Post by: NinGurl69 *huggles on April 18, 2009, 02:53:33 AM
Mouse and Turtle were OK and necessary at first, mostly because we were so used to using Toad/Troopa in Super Mario Kart.

But once you unlocked The Cock, no one else seemed to matter.

The Crocodile guy had terrible handling but turned out to be surprisingly effective as a hovercrafter due to his heavy, but steadily arched turns.

Post by: Mop it up on April 18, 2009, 03:11:03 AM
I don't see what's so great about Pipsy (the mouse) or TipTup (the turtle). They may have good handling but their top speed is terrible. Timber (the tiger) and Diddy Kong (the monkey) seemed like the best of the regular characters because of their all-around abilities.

It's kind of strange how T.T. (a friggin' clock) was the best character.

Handling is important when trying to adjust to the game for the first time.

Anywho,  Cock > Clock.

Anywho,  Cock > Clock.
I don't see how, T.T. is the best in all categories: highest top speed, fastest acceleration, best handling. Drumstick just has speed, he's a lot like Krunch only a little bit more manageable.

I preferred Tiptup until I unlocked the cock. What was his name? Then when I unlocked TT I always used him.

Mr Daisy-Huggles just wants an excuse to say cock.

On a random note, I was playing Mario Kart Wii and once when Daisy passed me I could have sworn she said "Huggles!" Have I been twisted that much by NinGurl or does she really say that?

But the topic came up because I mentioned that this could be similar to DKR. Sure it did veer farther off when we started discussing DKR characters but it should be OK to talk about what features from DKR could be used in this game.

Also, is that the dreaded evil fish from Commander Keen that swallows you in one bit, KDR_11k? That wicked thing scared me to death in the game.

Is there any word on whether or not this game will use the Wii Wheel? I think that was a big draw for Mario Kart Wii and it could really help this game's appeal if it used it. Or is it not enough like a racing game for that?

They could do a racing sim that way where you use the wheel in one hand and the other WiiMote is used to shift gears.

Sorry my DKR talk got you confused Mop it up, this game just sounded similar in concept to DKR. A racing adventure game is how I would describe DKR.

The game features a very pleasing art style and presentation that to me seems very -- well, the word really is French; there's no better description. It's all inspired by minimalist 60s and 70s architecture, with its straight lines and uncluttered aesthetic -- incidentally, this graphic choice works well on Nintendo's console.
I also really like the look of the character in this game. The E3 trailer reminds me of those early 3d animated movies only with real artistic presentation.

Wait, when is launch day? It's already out? Are we witnessing yet another poorly marketed game for Wii that is doomed to die? Only time can tell.

For America, it was launched on the first of the month. It's the 6th of November over here. I find it hard to believe it won't be marketed, as all three of the previous games were on TV quite a lot around the time of release. The Raving Rabbids have made a fairly strong brand for themselves and this latest one would be easy to sell to people, so I'm expecting to see something on the small screen soon.

Hmm NWR had a press release with the 3rd as the date. This was a few months back.I went out to target yesterday and saw a spot for the game. No game.Guess everyone took advantage of the B2G1F deal.
Edit:Just looked around and everybody has the 3rd except Gamefaqs.

As far as Reviews I think I have seen some.BRB.

Gamesradar is the only review I saw. They game it a 8.

As far as early reviews go. I think that goes with what the site has as their release date. Probably get more reviews today and tomorrow.

Maxi, Target only gets game shipments once a week. With Conduit they had a spot reserved for the game on the shelf with a sticker and price, but the game didn't come in for a few days after they made that spot on the shelf. So it may not be sold out, but not arrived yet.

UPDATE~
IGN has posted their review. (http://wii.ign.com/articles/104/1041704p1.html)

They gave it an 8.5

I've played through the first full level and started the second one.  Barely started playing in other words.  It's great fun though, and has some action/puzzle elements as you have to find hidden stuff to cram in your cart.  I love the art style and the very odd tone of the game, and I love the Katamari like notion of collecting everything you can run over.  It remains to be seen if it has Katamri's addiction level, but so far it looks good to me.

Wait until you play the human levels, which equals more "MADNESS". I also like the "RESPECT THE POUCH" billboards in the city.

Confirmed, human levels are MADNESS upon MADNESS.

Really, this game has a great flow and responsive straightforward controls.  There's platforming elements crossed with vehicular (le shopping cart) elements, and the feel isn't strictly exclusive of either.

This game is flipping awesome.

Hell, even the co-op mode is fun. Probably the best implementation of the Super Mario Galaxy-esque two-player mode yet, imo.

Nice. Do you think it lives up to Ubisoft's early claim that new gameplay elements and innovations are introduced roughly every quarter of an hour?

I'll probably ask for Rabbids Go Home for my birthday. The characters were always a neat concept, so I'm really glad they did that personality justice with this adventure styled design.

I don't remember that claim (I didn't care for the game until I saw it at E3 and enjoyed the crap out of the demo), but I'd say that might be right. Every couple levels there is some new small twist, some larger than others. I hope I'm not too far into it, I played about three hours so far, all with Lauren (mamacitalew in the forums and my fiancée in my heart).

I've gotten to the third 'stage' and cart physics depends entirely on your skills with controlling the thing. Getting the items that require boosts takes skill.

Ironic that this makes a better 3-D Sonic that doesn't star Sonic. Also, "Don't touch my speedo!"

One-liners and announcer make this game so hilarious.

I'm on the third world (or something). Still awesome.

Did anyone get all the unlockable Rabbid skins? I'm enjoying frolicking around with Leonardo from TMNT and a Best Buy employee.

This game is incredible.

Although I get the feeling it's better as a slow burn. Plowing through the whole game in a day will not get you on the side of loving it.

That is sound advice.  One's brain should be re-nourished with vitamins and rest after a good burst, but not marathon, with the Rabbids.

I just got this game in the mail today, and damn is this **** funny.
The whole customizing of the Rabbid had me laughing my ass off for about 10 minutes.
tossing him around the inside of the remote and then trying to take pics is more fun than it should be.

So far I'm loving it.

I have to get back into this madness.  Past 2 months have been juicy for Wii gaming.

I'm sure you decorated your Rabbid. Send me a pic or a figurine.
I would send one back, but I played on a Wii that is not hooked up to the internet yet.
I'm gonna remedy that issue today though.

OMG, I just picked this game up again today and played the Supermarket level.
Does Capri Sun have some advertisement contract with this game?
there was a segment where they found the Capri Sun (this is after the giant billboard ofcourse) and then the other Rabbid steals it with a sword fish and then they do the appropriate thing for a "Respect the Pouch" commercial and turned the Rabbid's head into a swordfish. That was a L.O.L. moment.

"Respect the Punch" (I looked closely, it doesn't say pouch) is an ad for Capri Sun? Didn't even know that, I thought it was just some random gag I didn't get.

I posted my Rabbid on the Rabbids Go Home Channel random entry contest.

Vote for my Rabbid. (http://g2w.ubi.com/rgh-wii/en/Results/A00A11H86) (ignore the name it's under, got submitted using the wrong account)

I think it clearly says Punch. and it is a direct ad for Capri Sun.

But that's not why I bumped this. I just beat this the other day(a level here a level there) and I even entered the codes for the locked rabbids, but there is one left. Has anyone unlocked the 8th rabbid and do you really need to 100% every level to reach the last stage?

Pro, Neal, TruBlue.... anyone that has beat this game, have you gotten to the last level?

Something doesn't quite add up and I can't figure it out. The game says I have 31,445 feet worth of stuff, and I checked all the levels I've played and I still have 279 feet worth of stuff to collect, but I need 31,750 feet to access the last level. What am I missing?

31,445 - What I already have
+  279 - what I still need to collect
-------
31,724 - what both of those total
31,750 - what I need to move on
-------
26 - missing feet worth of stuff

Where did I go wrong? And how do you unlock the last hidden Rabbid skin?

I kind of forgot that this game existed. Maybe I should grab a copy before they all disappear from store shelves...

It's fun, funny and it helps to have a second player sometimes.
My most played game over the last week or two.

Gah! Another game I want to get but keep putting off getting...stupid car stuff is cutting into my gaming budget. Less tips = less games at the moment.
