Maybe it is because I've grown cynical of NOA, but I think it could be due to poor planning on their part, and games like this, Xenoblade etc are being released to pad the Wii lineup so software sales don't completely fall of the edge of the earth before Wii U is out.
Isn't it too late for that? Sales already fell off the edge of the earth last year when the Wii didn't see any meaningful release for... what, nine consecutive months? Maybe longer?
Perhaps I'm just cynical, but the time when I can celebrate these type of announcements for Wii has long since passed. We are
finally getting a port of an 8-year old game that has been available in every other region on Wii for the last 3 years, and NoA wants me to be excited? Screw off. Put an enhanced version or Pikmin Collection on either the 3DS or Wii U and maybe then I'll start pulling out the wallet.
I agree that we are probably only getting this game as a mandated release to increase series awareness before Pikmin 3 is announced, although it might be a reaction to better-than-expected sales for Xenoblade. (NoA: "Wii actually has people willing to pay for quality, core gaming experiences? Who knew!")
