Mafio -GX: Wrap-up. It finally ends.

Out of the time barrier stepped Digi-Boy.

"Digi-Boy?!" exclaimed everyone.

"Great. Someone get a mind wipe device and then send him back to the past," ordered the Head.

"QQQ. Stun ray," demanded Digi-Boy.

A bright light flashed forth from QQQ's eye and froze everyone in the room.

"I'm afraid there will be no stopping my plan. In a few minutes, the past will have so irrevocably changed this future that the past will have become fact," explained Digi-Boy.

"What are you doing? Are you insane? You have no idea the consquences of your actions," exclaimed the Head.

"Oh but I do. I know exactly what will happen. Heck, I sent this robot back knowing that it would waste enough time until I was forced to act. It allowed me the time I needed to put my plans into action in the past. You see, when Black Shadow died from an intergalactic rift, I was asked to help make some devices to prevent that from happening. As I was working on that problem, I met up with Phoenix, an agent of yours. He offered to lend me QQQ to help with the problem. Of course, QQQ seemed to have some problems with his memory. He couldn't access certain things which limited his usefulness. I suspect that it was deliberate tampering on the part of Phoenix to keep time-travel secrets from being revealed. But, since I can get behind any device, I soon unlocked that information. With it, I was able to see what the results of so many things would be and I was able to discover secrets of your organization. I could see how the F-Zero organiztion would end and I could see how I could turn that to my advantage. That advantage will be fullfilled in mere moments," Digi-Boy monologued.

"And just what is you are trying to accomplish?" asked the Head.

"Well, to answer that I guess we should start at the end of the F-Zero tournament. That should be where QQQ stopped talking," explained Digi-Boy, "Let's see. Draq had just been killed and the racers were aware of another killer among them..."

Earth
Outer Space

"You mean there really is someone else killing racers?" asked Jody to Pheonix, "I thought it was just officials just mistaken because they didn't know about the mafia killings. Who is it? Is it Blood Falcon? He didn't seem to have any problem killing Draq and he is evil."

"No," Phoenix replied, "It rather obvious. Who was once employed in an elite division of the Poripoto Army where his unit was responsible for over 70 assassinations? Who was rumored to have become an assassin for hire after leaving that army? Who among us races to quench his thirst for blood? There's pnly one person. Pico aka ShyGuy is the killer."

The two racers faced Pico.

"It's true. Pico likes to kill. But Pico is a hero. He ended mafia terror. Pico not so bad. Pico can be your friend," begged Pico, slowly reaching into his shell.

"Look out," cried Phoenix to Jody, as Pico wiped out a small device.

"PICO-CHU!" yelled Pico, pressing a button on the device. Pico began to glow as electrical energy surrounded him and slowly began to extend outward. Phoenix ran over to Jody Summer and pressed a button under his right glove. In a couple of seconds, QQQ materialized beside Phoenix and Jody.

"QQQ. Deflect that energy!" Phoenix yelled to the robot.

At this point, Pico was focusing the energy into a ball above him. He sent the ball of electric death towards Phoenix and Jody. QQQ stepped forward and absorbed the energy and then shot it back to Pico frying him.

"Well, I guess that's the end of Pico," said Jody.

"No. It's not," answered Phoenix.

"What do you mean?" asked Jody.

"I'm a time cop. I was sent here by my organization because we received information that an event in the next F-Zero Grand Prix would change the history of the entire universe. I know now what it is and have collected the information I need. All this death and destruction, it will be undone. We'll go back in the past to the start of the race and prevent those responsible from carrying out their actions. So, Pico will be back. Heck, so will everyone who died. This will never have happened," explained Phoenix.

"So, Blood Falcon won't win the race?" asked Jody.

"No. In fact, according to my information, he was the only racer who was actually supposed to die in this race. But I guess with all the changes that didn't happen," said Phoenix, "Well, QQQ. Transport me to the Moon."

"The Moon?" asked Jody.

"Yeah. That's where we keep a time machine," explained Phoenix.

A transportation tube opened but out of it came Digi-Boy.

"QQQ. What did you do? You were supposed to transport me," exclaimed Phoenix.

"He did just what I ordered him to do," answered Digi-Boy. "The event that is going to affect the universe isn't what happened here. It's what will happen after when I rebuild the F-Zero organiztion. And I can't allow anyone to stop that," Digi-Boy revealed.

QQQ then blasted Phoenix and Jody with a heat beam, killing them. Looking through their belongings, Digi-Boy noted that Phoenix Lestrade aka ThePerm was just a regular racer or townie and the Jody Summer aka Shift Key was the townie idiot.

"Alright, QQQ. Take me to the lab," ordered Digi-Boy.

At Digi-Boy's lab, there were bodies of all the dead racers. Digi-Boy was conducting experiments on them and cloning the racers. There were also many peices of strange equipment and uniforms. As Digi-Boy worked on QQQ's memory and how to time events so that his plan of action would succeed, Blood Falcon walked in.

"@%&%^&&!" He exclaimed on seeing everything around him. "You've got to be the most sick and twisted individual I've ever met. I mean, even I've got a lot of problems but this is incredible."

"Blood Falcon! What are you doing here?" asked Digi-Boy.

"I saw the flash of energy on the track and raced down to see what was happening. I arrived in time to see you kill Phoenix and Jody. I tracked you down to here to make you pay for that," answered Blood Falcon.

"Well, I'm glad you're here. It will save me the trouble of having to locate and kill you," ansered Digi-Boy. Then he pressed a button and sent QQQ to the past.

Blood Falcon aka Vudu pointed to Digi-Boy and said, "I think you're mistaken. I won't be so easy to take down. I'm the Magician."

The Lane Corporation
Lab HQ

"So what happened to Blood Falcon?" asked the Head.

"He's dead," replied Digi-Boy, checking his watch, "Another minute or so and that will be historical fact."

"So you really know the consequences of your actions, do you? Well can you explain why people in the future wear such strange clothes and everyone looks female?" asked the Head.

"It's quite simple. People are just imitating their favorite F-Zero pilot. That was my plan. I rebuilt the F-Zero organization. I now control the most powerful event in the universe making me the most powerful person in the universe. Planets bow to my every request because I can bring the F-Zero races to them or I can take them away. Moreover, I made the race more powerful then it ever was before. And you know how I did it? I remade the racers. Here, take a look for yourself," said Digi-Boy. He grabbed a couple pictures from a pocket and help them up to the Head.

Here's Captain Falcon, as healthy as ever.

Here's Doctor Stewart. Alive again and no longer worried about her father's killer.

And Samurai Goroh. I think the new look is sure to win her more fans.

"What the heck?" asked the head in amazement.

"Yes. As you may be noticing the racers are now all women. That's what my cloning lab was about. I took their DNA and reformed them. With the women, I just helped make them a bit better. Women love the race now because it has women in a postion of power and as idols. Men like the race because of the women. I'm sure you'll notice the people that you have seen changed look like these racers. That's becuase the race is so huge, people emmulate these racers. They dress up as them to show their support for their favorite racer. And those uniforms have apurpose to. It allows them to run at speeds similiar to the ones their racer would have driven. And I control it all. The racers obey me and get their equipment only from me. That keeps them in line. With the racers in line, my grip on the F-Zero organization is iron tight," explained Digi-Boy.

"Your plan still won't work," said the head, "We have devices installed in the building so that we always keep our knowledge no matter how the past changes. We'll still know you've changed something and we'll still go back and fix things."

"But what if you don't exist in the future? Time's up," said Digi-Boy, "QQQ, activate transport."

The robot did as it was told. Digi-Boy and QQQ vanished from the room. The head could feel movement returning to his body but it was too late. He could see the new future expanding into the room and closing in on all of them. Soon the future change was complete.

The head of the orginaztion woke up. What a wierd dream. He wondered if it meant something. Was there some kind of jealousy or aminosity that he subconciously harbored against the President of the Orgianztion, Digi-Boy. Still, it felt so real. Could it be possible? Had he been in charge of protecting time? Was this reality not right? He tried to shake off the feelings he had while getting washed up for the day. But they didn't go away. What if it wasn't a dream? What am I supposed to do about it? He tried to focus on the day's events. A new championship race was about to begin and he had a long day ahead of him on making sure everything started and ran smoothly. But his thought's kept going back to the dream. Until, he thought about what he should wear. This time, I'm showing my true loyalty. he thought. And now his unease started to leave him. So what if this wasn't right. It sure seemed better then what he had seen in the dream. And besides, the Head was a big Black Shadow fan.

You're deluded Stevey. Can't you see that at the last moment, your son, the Magician, switched the roles of DigiBoy and Lily Flyer?

Hence, BILL AURION won.

To be more acurate, Perm switched with me on day 9.

Good game, Khush.  You really put a lot of effort into the story.  I read most of it.

I would like to point out that this is my first mafia win, even though I've played ever game on PGC; I have a 10% success rate.

Great mafia game, or the greatest mafia game?

Thanks, Khush, I really enjoyed this one.

Oh, thanks to decoyman too, for the great avatar.

I have to second what some others said. One of the high points for me this game was reading the awesome stories. This final one is a great, clever end to it. Twists and turns abound! As for the avatars, I was just glad to take what little load off Khush that I could. I think that part made up about 1% of the total work of this game. Super-kudos to Khush for making the other 99% of it fly. Awesome job.

I still think MaxVelocity could've pulled this one out, but I'm biased It was my first time leading a mafia, and it was great fun.

And I can't forget BigJim, who took the reins of the mafia even with it being his first game ever, and nearly led us to a stunning, come-from-behind victory. Nice job, I knew you had it in you. Ceric, Svev, nice jobs as well. We were all taken before our times. As for Deg... well, what else can I say but, in the immortal words of a rival mafia leader, Stevey, "VEDETTA X 100000!!!!!"

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm glad to hear that most everyone enjoyed it. I'm also proud for all the new people that played. We had at about 5 new people in the top 11 there. Sadly, a couple got hosed by being killed early on but I think at least one of them will still be back. (I'm looking at you Spak). Way to go Vudu. Not only did you win but you survived right to the end, making top 3. Or in the case of the story, 1st place.

Anyways, I have to say that it is quite a different experience hosting the game. I had a few worries over what was happening. First, the Stabby incident. Then, Pale trying to squeeze the mole for all his info. Vudu doing the same thing later by telling the mole to spill the beans. 18 Days basically told everyone to vote for Stevey. She was correct but that didn't go over well with Stevey. (I don't think that vendetta has ended). I had ShyGuy making coy posts about my protection of Stabby. Stevey asked me if I sent Infernal his mafia role. I had no way of checking because I had long dumped my mailbox of the roles being sent out, so I was worried that I might have messed up on that mafia.

I'd have some conflicting orders on the same person and had to figure out how the order would work. And questions. Man, the questions. So many explanations of roles. One thing I was worried about also was guiding people on how to use their roles. For instance, Mantidor was the magician and had a lot of questions about the role. Maybe it wasn't the best role for a new person but I tried to explain the benefits of the role and how it could be useful. I gave the example that if he knew the mafia was going to vote out the doctor, he could switch roles with the doctor and keep that role in play. This is something he later did. After Perm basically gave away his role in desperation one day, Mantidor switched roles with him that evening. Then as the doctor Mantidor kept protecting Perm in the night and prevented a MaxVelocity hit. Instance like that made me worry I was influencing the game.

The one time I did try to influence the game was at the end when it became apparent the Killer wasn't going to try to play for the win. I begged and tried to persuade him to think otherwise but he refused. That was another thing that had me worrying because by not playing optimally (playing to win), it could upset other people, like MaxVelocity, because that wasn't the way you play the role. You try to kill everyone, not just one side. It bugged me more personally I think because when I play strategy games with people, I want everyone playing to win. It always bugs me when people just decide to throw strategy out the window and just start doing things for laughs or hindering another player for no reason. I've had a few people do that to me and it just bugs me with a passion. But, let me get away from that subject before I start fuming over my own experiences. It didn't happen to me and if that's how ShyGuy wanted to play, I let him.

Still, it's good to know that in the end, there aren't any real issues that bother people or have them upset. I'm sure there are some things people will want revenge with in the next game.

Now, I mentioned before that I was going to go over the roles and what I thought worked, what needed to be discarded and what should be tossed. Also, I might even delve into the purpose of the role.

Let's start with Godfather. No improvements. I did borrow Pale's idea of replacing the Godfather for this game but I also made sure to make a compelling reason why with the mole. Never came into play. One thing I did think about was letting both mafia's make a hit every night but decided against it might be too powerful for the mafias. The townies can only kill one with a vote and the mafias would be able to kill two at night and that seemed unbalanced.

Mafia Doctor. I brough this role back in part because I wanted each mafia member to have something to do if they weren't godfather. Also, I expected there to be a hunt for the doctor with this role and for it to be a more powerful role later in the game by taking away townie protection and giving the remaining mob members protection. Spak had the best improvement for this role I think. Let them have actions on their mafia's night and actions every day when the townie doctor is dead.

Mafia recruiter. Again, another role from Pale's game. I remember in that game how awesome I thought that role was and talked to my godfather about strategy around it. My thinking was that we should kill the other mafia's recruiters giving us the only one. With our recruiter we keep bring in more member's while the other mafia's slowly wither and die. I later learned that there were great odds to successful recruiting and it was limited who could be recruited. (Although, if my godfather had followed my advice MattVDB would have been dead long ago and not have been able to recruit Zach successfully for a win at the end) I decided to narrow the odds. I tried to think of what would work for a good randomizer. The only thing I had available was a dice. Maybe the odds could have been improved on but again, if it's too easy to recruit, then everyday you vote a mafia member out, another one comes in. I don't think it was that bad. There were two successful recruits. Athrun only had two cracks at it before refusing to recruit because of his mole role.

Mafia Spy - Again, we discussed this already in the dead thread. Should the spy have had an action every night? I debated that but felt no. With two mafias there was a potential for both mafias to find the important townie roles fast and eliminate them.

Mafia propagandist. The name of this role may be changed but I think it has some potential. It allows the mafia to cancel a vote which can help. I liked the idea of picking a corrupted townie but that I will discuss more of next. The one thing that would have to be worked on is what would happen if the propagandist cancelled a vote and it lead to a tie. It would be obvious which person a vote was cancelled for by looking over the tally? How would the Game Master handle that? Fortunately, it never came into play.

Corrupted townie. I know one person who hated this role and I don't blame him. The idea for the corrupted townie came the fact that I thought it would be neat to have a townie working for the mafia. If investigated, he would seem innnocent. The problem came from the fact that the propagandist controlled the townie, thereby limiting his innocence act. There was also conflict over the fact that the Corrupted townie could become innocent again and thus there was a conflict of interest to work with the mafia. If done again, I would just make the corrupted townie a full-fledged mafia member. This person would be whoever the propagandist chooses though. One other thing. The idea for this role came from Zach's mafia game when I offered to give away my vote. i even said I'd post anything the person who had my services wanted. Maybe it should have been a clue that it wasn't the best idea when I was killed by Day 2 or so.

The mole. Likewise, since a townie was working for the mafia, I thought it should be evened by having a mafia member work for the mole. Wandering made some ggod points about the mole's loyalty and one way I tried to fix that was with the blackmailer, though this may again have created a conflict of interest like the corrupted townie. I was glad that the moles did follow the rules and only let out information as specified by the package rule. That said, it might have been to overpowered in the townies advantage. By 4 days, with no recruits, the entire mafia is exposed. Perhaps the way to limit it might have been a package on that mafia's action day. Or maybe a mole just can't work in this game. I came across this role under Wikipedia's article for this game which someone linked me the first time I played Mafia. And so, I thought I'd give it a spin with this game. It also came from my experience with Pale's game where I hooked up with a couple townies and the townie assassin and started revealing who was who on the other mafias. That still brings a smile to me.

The blackmailer -  It was a name only role. Basically, by eliminating it, it just allowed the mole to make a final choice. Townie win or mafia win. If there is no mole in the game, there's no reason for this role. And considering what had happened in the game, it might have been better to make the mole return to the mafia automatically. Though again, if the mole's actions were limited to just action nights, then it might still be feasible to let the mole have a choice. If there is no choice, then the townies may want to portect this role more.

That's enough writing for now. I'll talk abit tomorrow about the other roles. Feel free to keep posting your experinces on the game. It helps a lot.

well, as iv said before...the killer had no choice..he was blackmailed..he could either play to win or get voted out...if 2 people know the killers identity....then everyone knows the identity. If i hadn't switched vudu's role..the magician...i could have double crossed aliance and played as the killer

The corrupted townie role would have worked had I been actually turned Mafia.  As it was, I was a townie with no direction, and no communication from my mafia.  I couldn't have gone from one of the most vocal townies to a silent one either as that only singles me out.  I'm sad I wasn't let in a little bit more into the mafia because that could have really made things interesting.  I would have had a reason to not single Stabby out.  Khush's suggestion of actually turning them mafia, rather than being a pawn, because really who wants to be a part of the game and not be allowed to play, makes the role a legit one.  The way it was, at least for me, there was no point to do anything other then what I did.  It's sad I got hit by the killer and bounty hunter on the same day too.  Especially when I had a doctor say he would be protecting me.  Oh well.

And my brother randomly dieing?  That was weird.

Maybe the magician shouldn't be allowed to switch the killer's role. That might help to prevent creating a killer with allegiances, which is directly counter to the way the role was played this game (at least in the end).

I think the Magician as a whole is a wierd role that didn't make sense.  Dropping them completely would be cool.

Or how about letting the Magician turn a regular townie into any special role that has been killed off.  Then losing his power.  So if the Townie Doctor is died the Magician can create a new one.  It will be announced in the story, and the Magician becomes a regular joe.  This allows the Townies to have a person come back to life that could be hugely valuable.  If the Magician recreates the Librarian then that Townie gets the information of the old Librarian only.  And if the old Librarian hasn't used all his information then the new one gets that information.

EDITTED:

Oh and if the Magician gets recruited he becomes a Mafia Magician and can do the same and change a Mafia member into a new position.  Until reverting into a normal member of the Mafia.

And if the Magician chooses they can turn themself into any role instead of somebody else.

Can we start a sign up for the next Mafia...or wait until the Zombie game is finished.  Or how about Zombie Mafia?  Ok.  I will stop.

great game

despite all my mafia killed right in the begining :|

the magician role should be limited though, otherwise it's ridiculously difficult to keep track of the diferent roles (like happened with 4 constantly changing between them)

That is why I think the Magician should be a one time action.

Originally the idea was to bring a person back to life.  However, it was proven that was too powerful and enabled one person to come back to life and completely destory a Mafia team.  Or so Kush informed me.

However, the spirit of bringing someone back to life could still be captured by allowing the Magician to revive a special role in the game.  If any character dies, then the Magician change another person of his choice into that role...including themself.  However this only happens once.

This makes the Magician a very valuable player for the townies and should be hunted down.

However, the Magician is also a powerful character to recruit, because recruited they can do the same thing for the Mafia.  That just seems like a fun role to have, and that it would not be cheap at all.

I also think that if a recruitment is successful it should be mentioned.  And the Mafia should choose to either recruit or hit during their action, but not both.

And my brother randomly dieing? That was weird.

I kind of regret killing him so early. I told myself newbies should only have immunity on the first day, and then after that I should play normally...but, eh.

I suppose it's time for another exciting pm retrospective. Because I'm feeling lazy, I'm just going to give you all the pms I sent out with no explanations.

Day 0

I'm a townie.

Quote

to: Spak-Spang
I'm a townie, but there's no way I'm quoting any pms after what happened with decoyman. Sorry.

Quote

to: Spak-Sapng
SUPER sent him a pm that was worded differently than mine and vudu's. Vudu convinced the vigilante to kill him, and both the vigilante and decoyman died.

The game's supposed to start midnight tonight, I believe.

Day one

Quote

to: Deguello
Your will is my command.

Quote

to: Bill Aurion
Let me get this straight. You're saying that a) you don't think stabby is mafia, and b) you want people to vote for you because you're the bomber (even though you don't, because you aren't.)

Quote

to: Bill Aurion
So, by saying you're mafia and voting for someone you think to be a townie, you aren't trying to project the message 'PLEASE KILL ME.' And you may or may not be the bomber. Okay, got it.

Quote

to: khush
I'm not sure if I can time-bomb someone tonight, but if I can, I'd like to plant one on Deguello.

Day three

Quote

to: Deguello
In fact, that was my plan. Thanks for the names.

Quote

to: khush
Can I plant a bomb during the day? Or does it not go into effect until voting is over?

Quote

to: deguello
Sorry. If I was a townie, there's no way I would vote for stabby, and I think Bill would've picked up on that.

Quote

to: Bill Aurion
I'm no expert, but I believe that image is most certainly doctored....

Quote

to: khush
Actually, I think I'll put a time bomb on Bill.

Quote

to: khush
Yes, unless the doctor protected stabby and Bill is the one who'll be voted out. But if I'm not allowed to know whether or not that happened, sure, go ahead with Bill.

Quote

to: khush
Wait, I thought I couldn't do that!

Day four

Quote

to: khush
ShyGuy, Mario.

Quote

to: khsuh
Nyladrin, sorry.

Quote

to: vudu
I'm a hate magnent, I dunno. ShyGuy asked me to pm him my role a day or two back, and I didn't, so maybe that's it.

Quote

to: vudu
Not really, no. Still trying to figure things out.

Quote

to: shyguy
Use to be? What are you implying?

Day five

Quote

to: khush
Deguello please.

Day nine

Quote

to: Decoyman
Well, thanks. It was fun, though I regret not getting a chance to kill you all.

By the way, there's a time bomb on one of you guys. So if you happen to know who the killer is, I could, you know, take care of him for you....

Quote

to: decoyman
Well, that's why I didn't want the bandwagon to succeed. I wanted to make sure nobody won....

Day ?

Hey, dean of mafia. I was wondering if/when I could go ahead with my Star Fox Mafia idea. I was thinking about Novemeber 1st, but I wasn't sure if anyone else was scheduled.

And that's all she wrote. (I have no idea how some of you filled up your pm boxes thrice over.)
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon
