What about going into Parental Controls, and setting it to "Let me do what I want". Does that work?

Just watched a video of it, and noticed they used sound effects from Link's Awakening for it. Is that legal?

Does Nintendo/Capcom not want my money? I am willing to give it to them if they bring the NES Megaman series my way!

I highly doubt Nintendo would want to segregate the masses by having the Basic edition not be able to do something the Deluxe edition could do. Simply, the Deluxe has extra conveniences along with NintendoLand. The small amount of internal storage in both systems is meant to get a person started. It isn't meant to be the only spot to hold content, as Nintendo has said numerous times that it can be expanded via external storage devices. I don't even think the internal flash memory is as fast as people believe it to be, or there would be a major discrepancy between the two packages.

I had my chance to get the Deluxe, but ended up not pre-ordering because at the time, I wasn't even sure about getting a WiiU. That changed the next day after giving it a lot of thought, but by that time, Gamestop wasn't taking any more Deluxe pre-orders.  So, I pre-ordered the Basic. If this is anything like the situation with the Wii, I wouldn't have gotten another chance until May next year (not without going onto auctions).

Speaking of auctions, the employees at Gamestop informed me that a couple people in my area alone had been going to every one of their stores to pre-order as many WiiUs as possible. Dang resellers.....

Luigi is getting competitive with Mario now. Just look at that gut.

I was pretty entertained by the video, but I'm still confused about something. Is the player controlling both Rayman and Murphy at the same time? I ask because in the video, it shows Murphy being used. If a player isn't controlling both, then how will that affect playing such levels solo?

@SonofMrPeanut

I get the feeling that Nintendo's idea of "upscaling" isn't what we think upscaling is. Reggie mentions Wii games are built around specific hardware, but DS games were in the same situation with the 3DS, yet the 3DS was able to "upscale" them. So, imo, Wii games won't be "rendered" in 1080p, but that doesn't stop them from what we consider "upscaling" to 1080p. They'll probably look better, but not nearly to the degree that rendering them at 1080p would accomplish.

This is not how I envisioned an F-Zero-like game on the 3DS.

At least it isn't Hotel Mario, am I right?

I'm still undecided about whether to go digital or physical for this game. Plus, I'm waiting for my 3DS to come back from repairs.

Consider it a challenge. :D

Indeed. I'm having to find clever ways of getting some operations done with as little looping as possible, since that seems to be the main reason for my program slowdown.

This is not good. Not good at all. I just found out how many lines of code can be executed within a single frame's worth of time with Petit Computer.

2000 lines of code. Sounds like a lot of lines? Believe me, this is minuscule even by standards back in the 80 with the NES running with a 1.79Mhz 8-bit CPU. All I did was make a FOR-NEXT loop that did 5000 iterations with nothing inside within a GOTO loop that checked the MAINCNTL variable for how many frames had elapsed since the last call, and at 5000 iterations, it came to around 5 frames.

Yes, I know this is an interpreted language, but even using the DSi's 133Mhz 32-bit CPU and taking into account the RAM read-delay glitch, I would have expected much better results. I honestly can't see how I can continue my Megaman 2 project under this limitation.

I'm ruined if MM2 gets localized! Been making my own version of it via Petit Computer. Well, having the engine to make a custom Megaman is good enough at least.

This is what I recently made with Petit Computer. A WIP obviously from the look of it.

First, this is incredible. Dare I ask how long it took to put this together?

Second, the death animation is awesome.  Totally cracked me up.  ;)

I started about 2 weeks ago (part of it during my camping vacation since this last Sunday). Everything was created manually, as I had no option to import anything. 1232 lines at 30.7K bytes (excluding tileset and sprite CHR/COL files). The DATA dedicated to the level layout is about 400 lines alone, but I can probably reduce that using simple RLE compression.

Now I've run into another problem. Is there any way to erase an array that was set with DIM without CLEARing all variables made? I can't use DIM to re-dim an array, and there is no REDIM command. The program I'm working on is meant to allow loading a level that can differ in sizes from other levels, and comes along with other things like CHR and PAL animations for the backgrounds, each also differing in sizes. Am I to just go ahead and make a large single/double array for each, and limit the data to those sizes?

They may have been able to add that 2nd circle pad, but without that matching pair of extra shoulder buttons, wouldn't that just leave the problem as-is instead of solving it?

I am rather frustrated by the method they want us to have assets for our programs. It is nice that they give us the option to LOAD stuff like CHR, MEM, etc, but why must they include that awful sound accompanied by that command?

SYSBEEP=FALSE

Give that a shot before loading the resources.

Thanks, that did the trick.

They gave us an option to disable the dialog box with it, but no such feature with the audio?

In all honesty, I don't mind that sound with SAVEing, but there will be so much more LOADing than SAVEing in a single game that it gets annoying. The only method I can think of to avoid that is......have all assets as DATA within the PRG itself.....that just doesn't sound feasible for anyone programming straight on the DSi/3DS.

There are PC tools that can make all this easier, but the current program has crashed so many time on me that I've tossed out that option until those bugs are cleared up.

I might have to pick this up if only to see if I can recreate Thy Dungeonman.

Obvious exits are NORTH, SOUTH, and DENNIS.

I'm going to purchase Petit Computer the moment I get home from work today.

It came.
I saw.
I conquered (with a purchase).

Wish I had known when VVVVVV was on sale at the time. $8 seems like a lot.

I don't understand what Nintendo is thinking. If they're making a big push towards digital distribution, why does the Wii U only have 8GB of on-board storage?

External Hard Drive. Having one built in would increase the price of the system, and not everyone will go digital.
