I was wondering what the full number of Koroks would be. Not sure if I'm happy or slightly saddened to now know that. I guess I'm about 5-6% of the way there based on my memory of how many I've discovered so far.

Hopefully that means more inventory slots though who knows when I'm ever going to find and get to Korok Forest to take advantage of trading in my seeds. I did see a giant tree when I was scanning over Hyrule from the top of the Dueling Peaks and I thought that if a tree could appear that big from where I was then maybe it is the Great Deku Tree and that might be where Korok Forest is but I've yet to discover that for certain.

Something I wish some NPC would have told me: Dragons only appear at night. I spent way too much time doing literally nothing waiting for one to spawn.

I wonder if it is the case for certain ones. The reason I say this is that (warning dragon spoilers if you don't want to know too much on the subject) I decided to wander over to the Nabaru Snowfields (spelling could be off on that name) which is a short distance away from Hatero Village. Because of its position, I started climbing the mountains just outside Hatero and eventually made my way to the top of one of the peaks with the one the three trees you can see from the village and is part of a riddle for a Shrine Quest. I needed to use some of my cold resistant food from that height as the Warm Doublet wasn't enough at that height.

From there I was able to see Mount Lanayru but knew I wasn't equipped to tackle it. I did want more information on it though so I took out my camera and zoomed around for some close-up views but with snow blowing around things weren't too visible. I was looking at my day/weather to see if the storm might clear up and it was 4:00 pm but appeared to be stormy for awhile yet. The camera, however, picked up and registered something on Mount Lanayru so I snapped the picture and then looked in my Sheikah-pedia and it turned out to be a dragon that is resting on the mountain. That was the first dragon I had discovered and come across. Yet, that dragon was definitely out in the daytime. But maybe it's different if it is respawning. Did you actually kill a dragon?

I later went to the Faron region and discovered the dragon you were talking about with the yellow/greenish glow of light moving around the jungle. He's later appeared around Hylia Bridge. But everytime I've encountered him has been at night so maybe it is a night only dragon and the other one I saw is an all-day dragon? Still so much to discover.

I ran into the fat Korok a second time and was able to find the Korok Forest from his hints. If anyone wants, I can say where it is, but a vague hint would be that it isn't conspicuous.

Yeah, I've run into him twice in different locations. I think he is "trying to find his way home" and mirrors your journey loosely. He's been sticking at the second location so far, hoping I can get a few more slots before he moves again, but I used all of my seeds.

This means you should not hit enemies with the wand itself, only its magic. Smacking an enemy with the wand is a good way to break it.

That dragon is different. He's a boss battle you have to free first before you get random appearances of him. If you have a fire rod or similar, that will raise your temperature just by equipping it.

There's certain shrine early on that only uses the motion controls for its puzzle. I like how the motion controls were put into the bow but this was just a pain in the ass. There was no way to reset the puzzle back to a neutral state and if you combined quick movements with more subtle movements you needed to hold the controller at a weird angle if you tried to reset manually. If you backed out of the puzzle it still kept the last position you put it in and I sure as hell didn't want to back out of the shrine completely. It just feels like a weird design choice to not have a reset button in that case. It just made the puzzle more annoying than fun because it's pretty simple but it required a lot more mechanical skill than was needed.

So what I ended up doing was I accidentally turned the entire puzzle upside down. The ball still dropped, only I didn't need to navigate through this stupid maze, I only needed to carefully aim it into the chute I mean, I like that the game gives you different ways of completing puzzles but I can't believe how easy it was to cheese. That's bad.

If we are talking about the same puzzle, I was quite happy to best it by turning the board on it's side and using the railings like channels.   You can then upright the board when you are on the final leg for a easily directed jump.  Finally, positioning the board in such a way that you can get the chest and still get back to solid ground.   It was actually not too frustrating, and I usually hate those types of puzzles.  So I'm glad thinking outside the box wasn't "punished".

So I finally made it to a 3rd town. It's a town that has made an appearance in other games but gadzooks, Jesus Christ and thank you Iwata from above, this place looks like something people actually live in and not just a literal hole in the wall! It does so much to keep me immersed in the world it just feels more realistic.

This new director, I like him! The Oracle games, Minish Cap, Skyward Sword and now this just blows em all away. I trust him whole heartedly with how he envisions the land of Hyrule.

Quick question since I don't want to start scanning a FAQ and spoil myself too much on items.

Can you acquire a pot of your own to cook in? I'm wondering if I've missed something there. I can drop some wood and start my own fire but I can't cook over it.

Yeah, I like that too. When I boot up my Wii U, I can see which people on my friends are hip and cool by playing Zelda although it also sort of makes me a bit competitive and I want to discover things before the rest of you all or save Hyrule before you as if we are all wandering the map together and trying to be the hero. I've been trying to remember to post some stuff on Miiverse as well for anyone who wants to look back at another person's experience after they've completed the game and won't be spoiled by the posts I make at that later date. So, when I do that, I'll often see notices of other players who have since turned on their Wii U's and started playing too. It was kind of nice to see that in Xenoblade Chronicles X with player's avatars appearing outside the BLADE Barracks. The problem I'm having with the game is that I'm getting too into it to think about making a Miiverse post or wish I'd taken a picture after an event occurred but was caught off guard. But that's probably a good problem for a game to have.

Just out of curiousity, care to list the second location you've seen him at in a spoiler tag in case others don't want to know? I've got over 60 Korok seeds and I'd love to get some more inventory slots.

Funny thing about the memories: I kept trying to talk to the guy for hints, but he wouldn't give me anything.  Turns out, I hadn't actually activated the quest.  I still needed to go to the other town where you get your slate runes upgraded.  I had been playing for a while without going there, so I almost completely forgot what I was "supposed" to be doing.  Any way, I got the hint from the guy and have been seeking it out.  I tried to find it while on the train today, but it looks like I might need to do some cooking to get more cold resist.

Follow the road out of Kakariko village and head north. You'll find him by a stable just south of a Sheikah tower.

Not that I know of. The best you can do is throw stuff into the fire and roast it.

I found him a second time just past the riverside horse ranch. Not sure of the name, but I think it is north-west of the first horse ranch you find in the east. I don't remember names, but I can check that tonight when I get home. Not looking it up for fear of map spoilers.

I'm not following the directed story points at all. Just roaming the land like a lonesome warrior on my trusty steed hunting baddies and gathering weapons and treasures. Somehow I ended up in Zora's domain, but I'm taking pride in believing I am way out of turn for the story. And Zora weapons look awesome. Some of my favorite so far.

~Speaking of spoilers and the in-game experience, I highly recommend everyone turn off the HUD (choose the pro-HUD option from the menu). It removes everything from the screen outside of your heart containers and it makes the experience so much cleaner. I am more able to get lost in the world and immerse myself while doing this. I shut it off shortly after leaving the plateau and have never looked back. I can still place markers and check the full map, but this allows me to explore more freely without any hints or guidance.

This game is just too much fun. My only fear is that we will all be spoiled and any future sand-box open-world games we play will never live up to the quality we experience here.

That's something I hadn't considered... Planning to pick up & start Zelda very soon, but it might make my backlogged openworld games (Batman Arkham City and Assassin's Creed 4) seem less impressive from the sound of it.

Oh well, just a risk I'm gonna have to take! Sorry Batman!

so, I had something kinda scary just happen with me in my last play session.

I was fighting a group of Moblins and I'd hit one, and the game would freeze for a second and a half. the music would be playing, and it wasn't like a big frame drop or something, the game would just pause like if you went through a loading hall in a Portal game too quick or something. this happened a couple of times in the same fight, so I'm wondering if I encountered a group of enemies on a loading plane or something. very concerning. I saved, and promptly closed the software before putting my switch into sleep mode after that fight.

Anyhow, I'm 85/120 Shrines right now. there's no way in hell I'm doing 900 Korok seeds. X__X
