Who, me?

I'm just a formerly disgraced..um..bear, I think, with a huge star on his chest. You like stars, right? It's so relaxing to lay out in a field at night, look up at the stars, until it's RUINED by a raccoon shoving a knife through your fac...STARS. STARS ARE PRETTY. Got one for you right here. LOOK AT IT.

You got some art with STARS?

This website..exists? Yes. I remember now. It's been quite a while. Sure, I'll play.

TalkBack / Marvelous AQL Announces Forbidden Magma Coming to 3DS
« on: February 11, 2014, 08:38:37 PM »

A new 3DS simulation-RPG by the people behind Rune Factory.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/36532

Marvelous AQL's next project is a 3DS simulation-RPG developed by Rune Factory series staff, this week's Famitsu revealed.

Forbidden Magma (Kinki no Maguna in Japan) was first teased on a countdown site, leading to today's reveal in Famitsu. Very little information has been revealed about the project, although more details should be given when the official site launches on February 17.

One curious aspect is the apparent involvement of the Rune Factory staff. Neverland, the studio that created Rune Factory, filed bankruptcy and closed last November. It is unclear at this time if Marvelous AQL has hired on some of the disbanded team for this project. Rune Factory's series producer at Marvelous AQL followed the announcement of Neverland's closure last November by saying that the staff was "still doing great," possibly hinting at their involvement with Forbidden Magma. Rune Factory 5's continued development was also confirmed.

TalkBack / Re: Limited Edition Yoshi's New Island 3DS XL Bundle Leaked

It was actually pretty easy. I mostly scouted this website until I found sites that actually had, ya know, standards, instead of being glorified blogs. I just wrote up some reviews of games I had played, and submitted them. Turns out that quite a lot of websites will be impressed if you put some effort in and have a cover letter and the like. NWR is just one of the big ones that puts a lot of pride into their work.

Keep working at crafting your skills at smaller sites, and before long you'll have enough experience to impress some of the bigger dogs.

Oh my god, that first year of posting from me was pretty immature and obnoxious. It didn't help that I was 15 at the time.

In December, I decided to throw my hat back into the ring, and Neal remembered me. I was contacted early last week, so now I'm in the trial stage, hopefully on my way to being full staff. It only took 5+ years of work at other websites to get there.

Your favorite handheld system now comes in Yoshi flavor!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/36520

A Yoshi's New Island 3DS XL bundle has appeared on an online retailer, including the handheld system and the game.

The bundle, set to be priced at £199.99 (the same price as the Zelda 3DS XL released with A Link Between Worlds) is listed as coming out March 14, the same day as Yoshi's New Island.

Although the image posted to the online retailer, shown right, is only a fan mockup, IGN has confirmed that the bundle is coming to North America.

TalkBack / Child of Light Release Date Announced
« on: February 06, 2014, 07:02:08 PM »

The mysteries of Lemuria will soon be revealed.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/36503

Child of Light, Ubisoft's upcoming artistic platforming RPG, will be coming to the Wii U eShop on April 30, 2014 for $14.99.

The Japanese-style role-playing game created by Ubisoft Montreal is built on the UbiArt Framework, the same engine used to power Rayman Legends and Origins, helping to create worlds that feel like interactive paintings.

The new trailer showcases the art style and turn-based combat, as well as a crafting system and enormous skill trees.

Players will be able to explore the magical kingdom of Lemuria on Wii U, as well as on other home consoles.

GO HAWKS!

This game meant a lot to me. It helped that my family has worked for the team in various capacities since the 2nd year it was in existence. The photo below is me (the handsome fellow on the right) holding the NFC Championship trophy in the middle of my living room. Who knows, perhaps I'll have another picture with the Lombardi Trophy sometime in the near future, or at least with a very nice Super Bowl ring.

And we're still reacting to Oblivion's rants, why? It's entertaining, at times, to see him go off, but nothing more than that. I mean. He used the word broski completely seriously. Personally, I don't really care at all about either Frozen or Miyazaki in general.

Anyway.

I've seen Her, Gravity, Wolf, and 12 Years. That would probably be my rating order as well. Wolf made me laugh harder than I have in years, but Her and Gravity affected me the strongest over the longest period of time.

The only real way for this game to end is in a three-way tie shootout.

Vote..Godzilla?

Actually though, it turns out that MLKJr.Day is super busy for restaurants, especially when the kitchen goes to hell and we almost fire someone on the spot for messing everything up. By the time I got home, today's thread had already been opened.

I can assure you I'm a townie, don't worry.

Oh yeah, I also bought Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City. Looking forward to playing that once I get home.

I almost threw down and grabbed a sealed copy of Insmouse Mansion, but it was $180. Maybe if it's still there when I make one last pass through tomorrow afternoon. Any advice about whether that price is worth it at all? I can't seem to find any information about it tonight.

I picked up a Final Fantasy I Wonderswan Color today while searching through the vendor booths at MAGFest, with game, still in the original box and with all the papers. The box itself is a little yellowed around the edges, and the inside flap is a bit creased, but other than that it's in pretty good condition. I intend to keep it that way, with it going right onto my shelf as soon as I get home.

After realizing that people will actually pay real money for Steam Trading Cards, I unloaded all of them and traded them for Don't Starve and Assassin's Creed III for free. Didn't have all that much interest in either, but for free, sure, why not.

Caught the Wolf of Wall Street last night. Leonardo DiCaprio delivers a fantastic performance, and the three-hour runtime feels just about right. On a side note, it is now the leader in uses of the word **** (in a non-documentary film), with 506 separate instances.

Went on a couple of thrift store runs this weekend:

Found Wing Commander II, priced at $10, the cashier messed up and rang it in for 99 cents. The box is pretty beat up, and doesn't come with anything other than the floppies, but for a buck I'm not really gonna argue. I can find the rest of that stuff later.

A few unopened PS1 games: Dead Ball Zone, Frogger 2, Missle Command, Courier Crisis, Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout, and then Space Jam and Gran Turismo 2, but those were already opened.

The only things I've gotten through the Steam Holiday sale so far are Monaco and Electronic Super Joy, the latter of which I've played a ton of. Beat the first three worlds and the bonus content, now I'm just going back and getting all the stars to unlock World 4.

While I'm disappointed with the news as much as anybody, I certainly appreciated hear you guys talk about it in length. I'm among the Nintendo fans who still haven't picked one up, and I don't see myself doing so anytime in the near future (although this has less to do with my desire to get it, and more with my money situation at the moment).

I loved the Altered Beast joke (callback to 103, anybody?).

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

I picked this up a while ago in a Steam sale, but just got around to playing through it the past two nights. The references and jokes were amazing, and the game itself was obviously very well-made, as it was a mod of the Far Cry 3 engine (which I still need to play). I didn't bother freeing all the garrisons or anything, since the payoff wasn't anywhere close to worth it.

On a different note, maybe it's just cause I recently played the new Tomb Raider, but using the bow and arrow in this game felt way more satisfying than using any of the other weapons, the Killstar notwithstanding.

I meant to get it watched before the Crosstawk episode came out, but I just got around to watching Eyes Wide Shut tonight. I loved it, definitely echo everything the guys brought up.

I've watched a few of Kubrick's movies in the past (Shining, 2001, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove), but not for a while. I might have to make a point of going through his filmography here soon.
