Hmmm...I wonder if Europe will get a changed songlist for EBA, similar to Donkey Konga?  Probably not though, it would be much harder to rejig the songs based around a story than ones just added to drum to.  Can't wait for Locomotion, though - I hope it takes place on a train.

You'll probably be able to import it from DVD Crave, they let people from other countries import Aussie stuff on the rare occasion that we get something early.

Lessee, I have:

Burnout Revenge
Kameo
Tomb Raider Legend
PD Zero
Top Spin 2
Lego Star Wars II (well, it's travelling through the amazing network of postal services provided by Australia as I write this, anyway)

Wow, I thought I had more than that.  I really like Tomb Raider Legend - it's the first Tomb Raider game I've ever played, and I thought it was great fun.  Hope another one comes out soon!  Kameo was alright - I mean, I played through the whole game and got all the fruits, so obviously I can't have hated it... Burnout Revenge is fun, but probably not worth it if you have it for another console.  PD Zero...I didn't mind it, but I didn't play very far at all, as First Person Shooters make me feel crook after a while, and also I'm just terrible at them in general.  I would like to play through the rest of it, though.

Man, I can't wait for this game - I love that they didn't translate the voice, so when you turn into Mega Man, your character says "ROCK ON!". :-)

Also Deg, congratulations - you have given the lowest review score for the whole site.  That honor currently goes to Charlie's Angels for GC, with a colossal score of 1.0.

I wholeheartedly suggest Cloning Clyde, because you get to tinker with genetics.  And collect action figures.

Wow, that's actually pretty cool.  Can you imagine what it must have been like at the time to see a game running in real-time 3D?  No, forget that - what it would have been like to PLAY it?  And when you think about it, the 64 really DID have buttons everywhere - before the 64, who would have thought of using a button underneath where your finger rests?  There's some pretty mindblowing stuff in that video when you think about it.

Was outta work for three months.  Good thing is that Moby seems to be much better than IGN for cataloguing all my games and whatnot (it's much easier to add any wacko new games that I get).  I need to add more Planet GameCube reviews to the game ranks, though.

"Mickey, I thought we were friends!"  "SOOOORRREEE MINNEEE"

That's quality, that is.  I can't get past that final set of tracks on Intermediate, though.  Aww.  I like the GBC version better, because it reminds me of RC Pro AM.  Pity it is STUPID HARD, like RC Pro AM.

Overall review: A Rodney Dangerfield out of Samuel L. Jackson for stupid commentary from Disney characters, and a Caramello Koala and half a Freddo out of Cadbury Block of Chocolate for gameplay.

Final Score (not an average): 7.3957265792 out of IGN

TalkBack / RE:EDITORIALS: There is No Definitive Zelda
« on: August 30, 2006, 02:35:25 AM »
Hey Evan, interesting editorial.  I don't really agree with all of it, but the whole point of an editorial is to voice your opinon, correct?  :P  And besides, it's done what it's supposed to do: stir up conversation.  So here's my two cents.

Nintendo is as guilty as everyone else when it comes to double dipping.  Link's Awakening = Link's Awakening DX.  Link to the Past = Link to the Past GBA.  If it's felt that those don't count due to the added content, then how about the NES Classics - full price for a NES game that's about 8K in size.  When Nintendo does it, they excel at it.  The only difference with these games is that they were not released simultaneously as the originals, which is the case with Twilight Princess.

I do agree that there is no conceivable reason as to why the Wii version should not support the GameCube controller, especially when third-party titles are quite capable of doing so.  I mean, really, RAMPAGE will do it, but not Zelda?  Blush.  I guess Nintendo feels really confident about the Wii version, eh?

And to those saying "Oh I'm totally not buying this Zelda since they said they would be doing this", I call bullcrap on that!  You are most likely the hardcore Nintendo fans.  You haven't played a new Zelda game for three years.  Nintendo doesn't even NEED to promote this game to you, because you already know about it.  You sell the game on your own - there is no way that you won't play the latest Zelda game.  Even if you don't buy it right away (doubtful), you'll buy it later.

But really though, if this frightening new control system is bothering you, why not just purchase the GameCube version and play it on your Wii, which is backwards compatible with GameCube games anyway?

Well...you can plug in an older Boktai game and make it use the sun sensor if you want.  I wonder if Lunar Knights will cross over with that upcoming DS "new" Battle Network game, set even more further in the future?

I can really burn points if you want me to.  Fancy seven rolls of Super Mario Bros. sticky tape?  Also, what's the point of owning something if you're not even going to open it?  That's crazy talk, man.  Are you saying I shouldn't have used my Famicom GB Micro or Panasonic Q either?

TalkBack / IMPRESSIONS: Game & Watch Collection
« on: August 24, 2006, 06:50:18 PM »
Learn more about this rare DS collection of classic dual-screen Game & Watch software.

Nintendo's handheld game history goes further back than the Game Boy.  First created in 1980, the Game & Watch systems were simple but easy to play handheld games that used basic LCD sprites to create gameplay.  In addition to the standard single-screen Game & Watches, the design evolved to dual-screen handhelds, which folded in half (a precursor to the Nintendo DS).

So, it's not suprising that the Japanese Club Nintendo exclusive, Game & Watch Collection, contains three of the best multi-screen Game & Watch games: Oil Panic, Donkey Kong, and Green House.  If you don't own the original systems themselves, they've also previously been recreated in Game & Watch Gallery, Game & Watch Gallery 2, and Game & Watch Gallery 3, respectively.

However, the recreation of these Game & Watch games is incredibly faithful in Game & Watch Collection.  With two screens, the games can finally be properly displayed, rather than having one of the screens squished in a smaller format.  Sound is also dead-on, with all the respective effects and jingles accurate to their original counterparts.  And, similar to Game & Watch Gallery 4, both screens feature the 'ghosted' LCD sprites that you could see if you played the original systems.

Due to the the system clock of the Nintendo DS, the watch and alarm functions of each Game & Watch are also emulated in Game & Watch collection.  Surprisingly, this is the first time ever that this feature has been emulated!  You can set the Game & Watch of your choice in "Time" mode, which allows the DS to function like a regular Game & Watch, displaying the time.  Interestingly, the alarm will not sound if you have your DS in sleep mode - effectively making the feature completely useless!  However, it's a nice touch to see the alarm sprites anyway.

As 'Game & Watch Collection' is a promotional item, there are only three games to play, each with a 'Game A' and 'Game B' mode.  There are no modern re-creations of the games, and there do not appear to be any unlockable games or features.  When compared to the Game & Watch Gallery games, Collection really is a bare bones homage to three of the better multi-screen games.  If you're after a fleshed out collection of Game & Watch titles, one of the previous Gallery series would be your best bet.  Collection is quite honestly not worth the $150+ that you can see it going for on eBay.  Hopefully though, these three games, along with a lot more, will be compiled for a proper commercial Game & Watch Gallery game for the DS.

Just watch out with Juka - I've got the Euro version, and there seems to be a horrible, crippling bug which doesn't let you beat the Ice boss.  Hopefully it's gone for the US release.  Orbital won't talk about it at all.  It's a pity, because I was really enjoying the game, too.

I grabbed Coloris, Dotstream and Soundvoyager when I imported Rhythm Tengoku (with free stickers!).  I love Coloris and Dotstream.  Haven't played Soundvoyager yet.  I'll probably get the rest just for the hell of it, too.

Ah HAH!

At the same time the Burger King™ Corporation embarked on an expansion program opening company and franchised restaurants under the Burger King™ trademark. This strategy was later reviewed and it was agreed that a single brand was more appropriate and that the 30 year heritage of the Hungry Jack’s®  trademark was the most appropriate to move the business forward.

The king is dead, long live Jack.

48
No, we DON'T have Burger King any more, because Hungry Jacks stopped them from trying to muscle in and swipe all their customers.  All the Burger Kings that popped up have been converted to Hungry Jacks now.  To Non-Australians:  Long story short - Hungry Jacks was a place in WA that got the Burger King license and established their own franchise here.  The franchise spread to the rest of the country.  A few years ago, BK tried to bring their own chain in, to compete with HJ's.  Which was stupid, because Burger King doesn't have the Grilled Chicken Burger, and they could never compete with that piece of genius.  (Not even Maccas could compete against that.  Remember when they tried to release their OWN Grilled Chicken Burger, with grated carrot?  Of course you don't.)  So, Hungry Jacks is teaming up with Nintendo and releasing Mario toys at the moment, to celebrate the 20 years of Mario (Super Mario Bros. came out in 1986, right?  Meh, close enough.)  New Super Mario Bros. also had promotional inserts where you could enter a competition to win a trip for four to the US with spending money to spend at the Nintendo Store in NY.

And knowing is half the battle!

(Blimey, there very well MIGHT be rogue Burger Kings lurking somewhere in the country, I don't know.  But all the ones I know of in Vic are all Hungry Jacks now.)

Yeah, that's really bizarre - it only got released a couple of months ago, according to all the official release info, but I remember buying it a year before that - at my local EB.  I find it hard to forget when a GBA game costs me $80 and higher.
