Nintendo Gaming / So Rayman is a time exclusive?
« on: February 04, 2003, 03:10:08 AM »
It's not illegal! When they advertise it it is only for Xbox. They dont advertise it as exclusive now that it's on other consoles. Also notice that any restock of Hunter: The Reckoning for Xbox was missing the "Only On" stamp.
Anyway Devil May Cry was originally a one year time exclusive for PS2 but it would seem Capcom couldn't be stuffed porting it.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA SP
« on: February 03, 2003, 11:33:43 PM »
Well i dont have all the snes games i've ever wanted to own so NER! No but really I can see the idea they are using here with the port philosiphy. You see there would be roughly 3 times as many gamers around today as tehre were in the SNES era. And many of those people never got to play the SNES classics and would gladly pay full price for a great Zelda or Mario game of yesturyear. And at the same time Nintendo dont have to put much effort into these ports to make a quick buck. i honestly cant blame them.

And the GBA SP has no more RAM. None!

Yeah right you were hired by them. I mean for starters it HTLOZ not HTWOZ. Heck i bet you dont even know what HTLOZ stands for! (Hyrule the Land of Zelda)

Suprise Rick! You said you were looking for a a person that lives in Europe and Germany just so happens to be a european country! Also guys get a map out. No not a crappy map, get Peter's Projection or a globe of the world. That's right guys. Australia is enormas. I can imagine if I get the job. You guys ring me up "Roland, Ben's sick and we need you to be at EA Gold Coast's press event, it starts tomorrow at 2:30pm" Of course I guess it's not your fault that I have to then make a 4 hour flight to get to Brisbane and then catch a train or something I dont God-damn know to get to the Gold Coast.
Please be more specific in where you need these Europeans and Australians.
For a helping hand, just about all Aussie game developers, or at least all those worth a crap reside in Melbourne. This includes NAL's headquaters. Where i live, on the other side of the continent, is near the biggest port in Australia and a warehouse of Nintendo goods (Fremantle)

Nintendo Gaming / Im waiting for...
« on: February 03, 2003, 04:07:26 AM »
Hey Evilmanman is on the new forums! hurrah!
Yes as for the timeline it would appear that in the many hundreds of years that passed between Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Zelda: A Link to the Past it would appear that the Gorons, Hylians, Gerudo, Sheikah and Kokiri have all died out, with only the (mutated) zora's remaining. Yes I said Hylians because that old sage person says that the Hylians lived long ago and died out. That's why Link can't read their old writing without the book of Mudora. (spelling?) This also raises questions as to what race Link actually is. If I recall in Link's Awakening all the character art of the island inhabitants featured them with round ears. Yet there are still decendants of the sages...
Speaking of the sages the land of hyrule became a very sexist community in LttP. The Goddesses are refered to as 'Gods' and the sages 'wise men'.

But all this really shows that the timeline makes now sense. Metroid was making sense until a certain 3D installment changed all that.

Nintendo Gaming / GCN Games List - Memory Card blocks
« on: February 03, 2003, 03:12:06 AM »
Star Wars: Rogue Leader - 3 Blocks for 6 files.
Crazi Taxi: 4 Blocks for 4 files (needs 4 free blocks on card to save data over)
Super Monkey Ball also needs 3 blocks free to save.

I'm assuming the reason those games need those free blocks is because they create a duplicate of the save infomation and delete the old one. It would be interesting to find out how the game saves the data.
I think we should mark all known games that need extra blocks to save data with an asterix or something.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA SP
« on: February 03, 2003, 03:03:58 AM »
There wont be any SP exclusive games. It's like how the GB Pocket was basically a slimmer, improved version of the original Gameboy but not technically supierior.

What do you mean their running out of old games to port? I could name about 15 SNES games that I never owned that I would buy for GBA. And what do you mean there running out of ideas? I'm sorry but I must've missed the game that Kuru Kuru Kururin copies and I dont know where Nintendo came up with that e-card reader. And then theres the motion sensor games. There's plenty of promise there (but theres the compatibility issue...)

And the mobile phone gaming things wont stand a chance. I mean are you looking forward to Snake 3 or something?

Nintendo Gaming / So Rayman is a time exclusive?
« on: February 03, 2003, 02:30:53 AM »
yeah it's worked really well for Microsoft. I mean who bought Hunter: the Reckoning for cube? No one. But plenty of Xbox owners have it. Rayman 3 looks promising indeed, I might at least give it a rent.

With all the speech and stuff the GBA pumps out in Nintendo's SNES ports you'ld think it has a better sound card. And then you compare these voices to those in Super Metroid and Street Fighter 2 (The only SNES games I can remember with voice acting off the of of my head) and you'ld be certain that it's got a better sound card. Prehaps you could enlighten us in which one is really superior?

Guys, the only difference between a typical laptop screen and that in the GBA is that the GBA screen has a SCREEN PROTECTOR covering it.  Considering the rough use most GBAs go through, this is a Good Thing.
Goddammit I knew that I was hoping to be the smart arse to say it first too. Damn you staffers! The GBA SP actually needs this protective plastic over the LCD screen this time around because otehrwise the lights shining on the screen will be out in the open and at the mercy of the world. If they had a bare LCD screen then it would had to be actually back-lit and the power comsumption would be enornmas.

One thing that got me thinking abot the GBA SP however is the fold over thing. Do you think that because it folds over the buttons and crosspad might scratch or leave marks on the screen? I say this because the keyboard of Dad's fancy titanium plated PowerBook will actually leave marks on the screen unless he keeps a thin piece of cloth over the keyboard when folding it up. That said the screen protector (as we will now forever call the firm piece of plastic over our GBA screens) should be tought enough to not be damaged and wiped clean is such a thing does occur.

Nintendo Gaming / Final Fantasy 3 on Game Boy Advance?
« on: January 31, 2003, 09:25:39 PM »
Ok guys.
The Final Fantasy 3 that was ported to the wonderswan colour was the japanese one not FF6 thats caleld FF3 in America. Infact Square announced plans to port FF 4 5 and 6 to GBA shortly after the GBA was announced.
But good old Yamauchi stepped in the way and told Square to shove it so to speak. he told them that he wouldn't give them a licence to develop GBA games unless they pledged support for the Gamecube. Square were just about to sign the contracts to do just that when Sony stepped in the way and bought 19% of Square.

Then ofcourse there was the day hell froze over and yamauchi funded a sqaure-nintendo subsidory to develop FF games for GBA and GCN. So that said theres still a chance that Square will do what they orignally planned and port 4, 5 and 6 over the GBA but not before they finish Crystal Chronicles and Tactics.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience
« on: January 31, 2003, 09:15:36 PM »
You know the other day i was standing around in the local Harvey norman and a 9 year old was trying to tell me (I'm 15) that Gamecube was kiddy and Xbox more 'mature' it was just so funny listening to that come out of such a high pitched voice and a short body. I just stood really close to him and peered down on him. Then he shut up and I walked away.

But really It's Nintendo's fault that the public has this misconception of the system. All the other console have just as many colourful games as the Gamecube.
