(Actually posted this elsewhere previously, probably not in the best spot, sorry!)

What's up folks?
I'm working on an arcade RPG (high score based, extremely streamlined) called The Bounty:Deluxe Edition. You play much like a JRPG (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, etc.), but with the urgency of an action game. You go through different zones fighting monsters, solving puzzles, evading traps, and finding secrets and loot- just to beat the game and get a high score.

Development is going beautifully, and I'm aiming for a Q1 2016 release!

Anyway, to keep this brief, it's funding on GoFundMe now through 11/20/15- you can check out an early beta demo on PC there, find a ton more information, and back it if you're interested at www.gofundme.com/thebountydeluxe.

The perks include:
Listing in the Credits
Digital Wii U™ and PC versions
Become a character in the game
Boxed Physical Copy (PC only) (limited run of 50, 21 remaining at time of writing!)

Every official reward level also includes a Steam Key for my upcoming retro arcade game, Bug Attack!.

If anybody has any questions or wants to chat about the game or whatever, I'll be around!

Fantastic, clever, and the metagame will prove to be super deep, I think.  ;D

The strategy to roll out features and maps is, in my opinion, a blessing. This will keep the overall skill level easing up at a nice tick. This will help new players (especially those new to shooters) become acclimated, and not too intimidated in the beginning.

Some more rounded out local features such as 2p turf wars w/bots would be excellent, and I hope they come as well... but it feels wrong to worry about what a game isn't as opposed to what it is.

There is an increasingly prevalent notion that games should check off prerequisite bulletpoint features on a list. It's sad, and undermines truly important things like personality and charm.

General Gaming / Super Epic Marathon for Charity this weekend
« on: May 12, 2015, 11:56:36 AM »

I figured y'all might be interested in this. Team Mayh3m Militia, which I'm a part of, is doing a gigantic marathon for Operation Supply Drop.
I'll keep this brief, but there is plenty more info on Operation Supply Drop (in case you aren't familiar), plus scheduling and event details via the links below. Our team collectively holds over 500 world records, and are breaking out all the stops in support of US and NATO troops.

My personal high point of this will be an attempt to break my previous glitchless Doom speedruns. However, to make it more sadistic and entertaining, I'll be taking down tablespoons of ghost pepper sauce at the beginning of each of the three episodes. No breaks, no water, nothing until the run is completed. That one is going down on Sunday, May 17th at 9PM CST. It's gonna be ridiculously painful, but it should make for a good show, eh?

Scheduling Details at http://www.ludicrousones.com/operation-supply-drop.html

No real surprises, but this is brilliant. This will get Nintendo IP to proliferate, but not diminish. You want the full Nintendo experience that you're being teased? Go buy that hardware.

The announcement and vague "you'll see next year" on the NX is completely on schedule. On a personal note, I seriously hope the "Fusion" thing is what NX is.

This is Iwata's ship. Each amiibo will just give you access to a different phase in Balloon Fight. There's ALWAYS another way for them to get us to play ******* Balloon Fight.  :D

Color me intrigued. I'm actually a fan of fundamentally sound RPGs that don't heap on piles of odd battle mechanics. More often than not they don't seem to pan out by either being a pain to use or easy to exploit.

In regards to the objects being obscured... would you call that more of an obtuse design choice, or genuinely bad?

Great review! Very well written, though I disagree mostly. That's the fun thing about opinions, eh? :)

Except for Fi. Fi is horrible... the whole reminding us about what EVERY item is each time the game is booted up sucks too.

Besides that I really enjoyed the dense design, think the controls are a dream, and loved the visual/audio direction.
Bonus points for the dash/lime of endurance system.

If you're in St. Louis, feel free to come by and play!

If not, The entire event will be streamed live at www.vgevo.com, so you can join in,
even if you aren't in town- I'll be testing the setup throughout the week, so online play
might be a thing too.

Regardless, my NNID is Ludicrousda3ve.

The D-pad (and buttons) have a better feel to me on the XL over the original, so I'd guess these New models will be better as well.

Right on, thank you!

The thing I'm curious about- which is an open question to XL and 2DS owners in a way as well, is about the dpad. Without mentioning the 'Cube's micro pad, I've never played a Nintendo anything that didn't have a rockin' dpad. Until 3DS. We bought one at launch, and everything still works (even with 4 kids playing it occasionally), but from day one, that pad has felt like it was going to break.

Did hardware revisions fix that... and if not, will the "New"s?

Thank you! You can have a hug!  ;D

You can actually win stuff by playing the game- Video Game Scoreboard (www.videogamescoreboard.com) has something going on where you can win money by competing. That's something they're doing for everything you set scores on from now on, but there's a bonus thing for their "game of the month" comp, which the next one is The Bounty.

I'm running an open contest that ends on the 4th, too. Play the game, send in any score, and you're eligible to win $10 for Amazon, or character unlock codes. Just a little fun thing to try to get people playing. The rules and whatnot are at www.gwwentertainment.com/contest.

Kinda debating on doing one of those every month for a while, but I'm on the fence about it.

Yep. So I have to be slightly annoying. Advertising budgets must be nice.
Anyhow, I'm sure everybody here knows how Greenlight works; by garnering enough upvotes, the game will finally be made available on Steam- which is a huge deal. I need your help.

Take a minute, and if you dig it, vote. Share with the world. Tell your friends. Tell your family. Hell, tell your enemies.

Let's show the world that a good game can succeed, even without big money behind it.

Not familiar with The Bounty? The Greenlight page has the trailer, screens, and all the info and links you could want. Thanks, and wish me luck!

I'm Switzerland, man. The past rewards were kinda cool.
It's too bad they didn't offer digital as well as some physical stuff, or even just more/better digital stuff. I can't complain that I finally got NES Remix- but I do think, perhaps selfishly, that after amassing enough coins for Platinum, it could've been both? Or cool EU stuff from last gen (Another Code:R, Disaster, yada yada) like others have said?

It is what it is, I guess.

I'd like to add something intelligent to the conversation, but I can't. I have the same relationship in games with Bayonetta as I do in music with Slayer. Nothing put blind, animalistic joy.  :cool;

Cool that they're bringing back Paper Mario. Might have to snag Metal Torrent... if I can ever steal the old lady's 3DS.

General Gaming / Re: Getting Old and Gaming

Kitty? That's awesome. :)

The strategies that come into play in terms of netting gaming time evolve constantly as the kids get older- and like everything else related to parenting, I'm fairly sure that none of us really have a clue as to what we're doing. It's an adventure, though!

The Wii U is a godsend, though. I've also got an old slim CRT monitor next to my workstation- so during lulls of everything else, (kids or work) I'll snag a couple of minutes of some NES/SNES/Gen/etc action.

General Gaming / Re: Getting Old and Gaming

It's tough. We have four kids (between 5 and 11)- and it can be interesting to try and make gaming time. I work in games, so there's that... but it isn't the same. There's the whole family playing together; which is generally lovely. Of course, that's not the same either.

Lolmonade, I can heartily suggest Castlestorm. You can pick it up and clear a "level" or two pretty quickly, but the game is pretty deep, varied, and charming. There's also two player, extra modes, DLC, and leaderboards.

I'm submitting my registration for being a licensed Nintendo developer on Monday- so that's when I'll hear actual details about the dev kits. All I know now is that they're supposedly really reasonable about the whole deal.

This game (The Bounty) is actually staying on PC, but the next that I'm working on now is in Unity... so multiplat, with a lot of really neat stuff using gamepad functionality. Super excited about that... eight year old me would be losing his mind!

A lot will ride on this game's success, but I'm optimistic.  :)

That is a really interesting idea! I'm drowning in post-launch work on my game, but in a month or so I'd happily do this.
