I've only seen $200 million for the 4-day... apparently it did like $50 million yesterday. We'll see though...my attempts to see it have been thwarted this far.

It did something like $25.5M on Thursday. Totaled around $76M on Fri (including thurs). Estimated for $69M on Fri

Sun expected to be a slight minus to Sat, so that already equals pretty close if not equal to 200M for the 3 day weekend.
Add in another 30-50M for Monday.... And Damn Gina!!!

Black Panther only did $192M for the 3 day, topping not only Iron man 3, and Civil War but also Age of Ultron, but being bested for highest super hero opening weekend ever by the likes of Avengers...

It's weird how they always show the numbers before Sunday even happens. They're typically pretty close, but there have been a few major misses in the past, where the Sunday take was much higher than the estimate.

So BP did $60.1M on Sunday. 2nd highest single day US B.O. Ever behind Star Wars TFA ($60.5M).
This puts BP with a 3 day total of $201M

4day expected to hit around $240M.
Absolute craziness.

Wow! I wonder how Marvel will react from an executive level.  As in which heroes will be streamlined for the next phase?  What new directors are coming in?  How many BP sequels will be ordered?

I'm pretty sure Feige has the blueprint for the next "Phase" already mapped out since 3-4 years ago.
General scripts already in works, and some test CGI already worked out.

And I can almost guarantee you that 2 sequels, 3 Event movies + Civil War were all in the original contract.
Will probably negotiate for any additional appearances (gonna be getting that RDJ money soon enough)

I'm curious to see where they go with the new phase. Spiderman seems obvious, and I could see them expanding the space stuff (Honestly it's been some of the best parts of the MCU so far) Hulk seems due for a starring movie again. Maybe She Hulk shows up? So much else is Mutants or Fantastic Four territory.

I assume they would revamp the Avengers team to be Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and The Wasp, plus whoever else they can get under a reasonable contract.  Maybe have someone else take the mantle of Captain America, like in the comics.

I would like to see She-Hulk, but another Hulk movie would be tied up with Paramount, right?

Also, the plans from a few years ago are probably shaken up from the Fox deal.

Paramount has rights to first refusal on distribution for any Hulk movie.

I'm sure somewhere in this Fox deal may be something Disney is willing to part with, that Paramount may want and in turn give up those distribution rights. Not like they are making anything from them at the moment. I'm hoping this same strategy can be used in a deal with Comcast for Marvel Amusement park rights, and possibly whatever finger they have in the Namor pie.

And Yes, Feige has scripts and outlines for all sorts of movies... in the "off chance" the properties become available for use. I wouldn't be surprised if he knew about this Fox deal getting close about a year ago, and already started inserting ideas for mid Phase 4 regarding Fantastic 4 and X-Men movies/cameos.

BP Update. Apparently a record breaking school day Tuesday @ $21.5M.
At this rate, BP projected to be around $300M by the weekend, and over $400M after its second weekend... O_o

Incredible numbers, especially for a movie the rest of Hollywood never would've made, because a movie this Black could never make money and wouldn't be worth the risk of investment.
Marvel put their money where their mouth was, and now they sitting on a mine full of vibranium.

BP could hit $550/$600M+ domestic, and that's just insane.

I'm really surprised more didn't come out from that.  It seemed like outlets saved a lot of findings from it for slower news days, with tidbits "coming out" weeks after everything was available.

The last major movie with an all black cast was Red Tails, i believe, and George Lucas said that he ended up financing it himself because of the reluctance to do so by anyone else.

Either way i hope this, and Get Out, kicks off a trend for more similar positive movies to actually happen.

In the UK this has long been an issue, with several black actors (Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Idris Elba, David Harewood, Sophie Okenedo and others) all far more visible in the USA than in the UK simply because there's less work for BAME (black asian minority ethnic) actors here. It's a known thing too.

Hopefully A Wrinkle In Time from Disney will do well (enough) too, soon. It's not an all-black cast by any stretch of the imagination, but does star a couple of prominent people of colour in seemingly big roles. Directed by Ava Duvernay too, who did the excellent Selma and I think Marvel wanted her for Black Panther at some point?

To be honest A Wrinkle In Time doesn't really appeal to me personally, but I hope it does well with young audiences. It'd be a shame if it bombed and Hollywood executives could have an excuse to go "well, see, Black Panther was a fluke after all! No need to hire people of colour to direct movies anymore!"
I feel like a one-two punch of (financially) successful Disney tentpoles directed by people of colour could really convince a lot of studio execs to further embrace more diverse hiring practices. But maybe that's overly optimistic.

I really hope A Wrinkle in Time does well too.  It takes so many movies for Hollywood to see something against the norm as anything more than a fluke.

I saw on Twitter that Ava Duvernay actually turned down Black Panther to do AWIT and recommended Ryan Coogler.
