I'll take the Wii Shop of the DS Shop. Longer load times and only two titles per page! Ugh! :P

The DSi Shop is abysmal.  I couldn't have designed something worse if I tried.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Both shops are so freaking slow that I could watch an entire movies before they are both loaded up.

Here is an interesting article I found about the steady decline of the virtual console.

http://wii.kombo.com/article.php?artid=12036

It speaks the truth and unless the wii 2 revitalizes the virtual console experience, the service very well could fall eventually.

Do you have a link to that list? I am curious about exactly which games are still left unreleased.

You left off EarthBound on the first list (despite what some people on the Internet claim, there is nothing stopping Nintendo. Any music that is in there easily falls under fair use).

I am also curious as to why you think Pokemon Stadium 2 has any legal issues stopping it from being released. The only legit reason I see it not being released is because it's pretty much gimped if you don't have the handheld games and a Transfer Pak (since otherwise you are stuck playing the mini-games or using rental Pokemon in the main modes). Same with the other N64 Pokemon games (especially Pokemon Puzzle League since there are no reasons it couldn't be released and be fully enjoyable).

I ended up going with realistic possibility, actually. Allow me to edit that.

I don't see EarthBound appearing due to being niche, and the Pokémon Stadium games because they essentially require a Transfer Pak. The list is just my opinion of course. Also, I thought that Pokémon Puzzle League was already on the VC. Is it not?

[A huge list of games that doesn't need to be copied]

What the hell are we waiting for? Let's get those titles released as soon as possible.

I am thinking about starting up a topic on a 3DS virtual console and what games should be on it and I was wondering if it would be alright?

Just don't mention the 'R' word and you should be fine, Kytim. ;)

I'm pretty sure there is some legal issue baring Uniracers from coming to VC. It was something that caused trouble for the original game as well.

That is indeed an interesting list. Thanks for compiling that, Mop it up.

There really isn't much left unreleased in the way of Nintendo games (at least as far as original NA releases go). I wouldn't mind seeing a few titles which they published, such as Illusion of Gaia and Mischief Makers (even though I have already tracked down carts of them).

Also, doesn't Gumshoe use the Zapper? Wouldn't it then fall in the Duckhunt category?

I'm pretty sure there is some legal issue baring Uniracers from coming to VC. It was something that caused trouble for the original game as well.

I never thought Uniracers could have a legal issue. It's such a simple game.

This is the first time I have ever heard of there being legal issues with Uniracers. Makes me wonder if there are issues or if this is just another case of gamers trying to come up with a reason for it not being on VC.

Yes, Gumshoe uses the NES Zapper. The main character moves to the right on his own and you use the Zapper to make him jump (by shooting him) and to shoot enemies.

I don't know much about the games so I was just making guesses. If Gumshoe requires the Zapper then cross it off the list. Does World Class Track Meet require the Power Pad?

I don't think there are any legal issues preventing Nintendo from releasing some of the Japan-only titles. Fire Emblem and Famicom Wars come to mind. Though with the other two imports they released, Super Mario Brothers 2 and Sin and Punishment, they had a good reason: one's a Mario game and the other was to build hype for its sequel. So chances are slim, but after Nintendo releases everything else, it wouldn't surprise me if they released some imports.

That is indeed an interesting list. Thanks for compiling that, Mop it up.

Eh...considering the Wii can play the GC version with significantly less video compression issues (and the PS3 has the original game on the PSN), I can't think of many reasons to buy the N64 version of the game now.  Besides, give Capcom enough time and I'm sure they'll find a new way to re-sell that game again just as they did RE0 and the REmake.

3DS remake? What happens to the virtual console when everything has been released for every console available? Although the likely hood of this happening seems slim, it might happen one day.

Quote from: Wikipedia Entry
Lawsuit Shortly after the game's release, DMA Design was sued by Pixar for allegedly copying the unicycle design and concept from their 1987 short film Red's Dream. Mike Dailly, one of the developers at DMA Design, commented, "The problem with Pixar was that they seemed to think that any computer generated unicycle was owned by them."
DMA Design lost the lawsuit, and as a result, Nintendo had to terminate production of further Unirally cartridges. According to Mike Dailly, "The deal was that Nintendo wouldn't make any more carts so Unirally only sold the 300k initial run".[1] Many reviewers and players believe the game would have been quite successful, given its critical praise, had it not been limited to its 300,000 production run.

I'm guessing the excerpt you quoted was in regards to Uniracers/Unirally? I'm curious if that 300k is the worldwide figure or the UK figure, since they used the UK title.

It is too big - it's a 64MB (512 megabit) cartridge and they filled it to the limit.

There has never been any mention of a VC size limit. There is a WiiWare limit, but no mention of VC games having a limit. Even so, only about 3 VC games are larger than 40MB (the other two will not appear on the VC: Conker's Bad Fur Day and one I can't remember).

Since DMA Design (now known as Rockstar North) is a UK based studio, that is probably why they used the European name.

World Class Track Meet has almost no chance to appear since it required the Power Pad to play (the controller was only used to navigate the menus).

Pokémon Stadium 2 is the other 64MB game. It legally could appear, but probably won't, since the main draw of it was using your own Pokémon, and beating it with rentals was practically impossible and required great luck.

For anybody who hasn't bought Paper Mario on VC yet, now is a good time. Amazon is offering a download code for the game for $7.99 (saving you $2.01). This is I think only the second VC available on Amazon, the first being World of Goo, and saving you over 20%. I bought the game the weekend it came out because it was one of my favorite N64 games. I think it's a good thing that a game from Nintendo is up now too.

The XBox 360 Games Library tab? It's a few dozen games stored on your local HDD and still takes half a minute to load.
